We are not from the Onalaska area and were just passing through and decided to stop and get some food before heading back home. After waiting in the pickup spot for quite some time we received our order, in which several things were wrong. We are usually ones to never complain and just blow it off but we were missing 2 drinks, a side, silverware and a completely different sandwich than what we had ordered. After being handed our order, the worker proceeded to tell us that they changed their hours and are closing early at 7 pm instead of their usual 9 pm close time. We understand this, and had no problem with this but not being from the area, we were just going off of the hours that were posted online and don't feel as though it was necessary for him to tell us that when his interaction with us was just about over anyways. We told him what we were missing and what the messed up sandwich was supposed to be and he proceeded to ask us for the receipt. Having a sister that works at Panera, we knew by his uniform that he was a manager and we found what he said to be unnecessary and not appropriate. As he went inside to get our items, we could see him yelling and getting angry through the window. It is okay to be frustrated, but when the customer is being respectful and calm and just wanting their $50 order fixed, there is absolutely no reason to be rude or make a scene right where the customer can see you. As we were waiting we noticed that we also did not receive silverware, while this would be no problem if we were taking the order home, we were going to be eating in the car as we were over 2 hours from home. My mom sent my sister to the locked door to save him another trip, and when he opened the door, he acted rude yet again. Although he, or someone put a couple bakery items in the bag for the problems we did not feel as though that fixed the issue by any means. Again, we are not people to post reviews but we were extremely disappointed at how the manager handled the situation, and the quality of food and just recommend that staff be held to higher standards. read more

The place seemed to be in disarray. There was garbage all over the floor and the bin for the dishes was overflowing. Worst of all, when our order was ready we were advised that they were out of French baguettes....how does a place that bakes there own bread run out of baguettes? This location showed a complete lack of concern and care on a recent order I placed. We live 60 miles away and like to place a pickup order when we are going to be in the area. Placed an order on Wednesday for Friday pickup of 2 dozen bagels, received an email confirming the order was ready for pickup Friday morning. About an hour later we pulled in to get our order (was about 10 miles out of our way even on this trip), walked in to the store and was told they were out of bagels since yesterday and they had nothing for me. I asked to speak to the manager about why an order was shown as ready to pickup when it wasn't, he basically just turned his back and walked away. I mentioned that when previous orders were not able to be completed they called to let me know and see if substitutions would be acceptable, and the cashier piped up "We can't call everyone". So it boils down to them not being able to complete an order placed and paid for 2 days earlier, and being ok with me driving a half hour out of my way and coming in to save them the 45 seconds it would have taken to call me. Clean food & quick service, already out of some menu items though around noon-ish. Kind of spendy as far as value is concerned, but nothing is bad or superb, so i'll definitely stop by for a bite in future, although probably not anytime soon with many other more exciting options nearby. The place looks neat, but the table we sat at felt a bit "sticky". Will try to order @ the kiosk next time, or perhaps continue with my take-away "tradition". Omg this is my absolute place to eat when I I am nearby! My favorite thing there is the salads they are sooo good I could eat them every single day. I totally recommend it! The only thing that I don't like is that you have to get up to put your own dishes away but it does motivate me to be less lazy haha but beside that I have no problems it is just an amazing and delicious place to eat at! The employees are super helping and kind too! They also really keep the place very clean and comfortable! So overall I love the place! read more

Every time we come it's very slow service. Probably the slowest service I've ever had at any Panera locations and I've been to quite a few. It also could be cleaner. Sticky tables and crumbs all over the seats and floor doesn't really make me want to eat there. Absolutely out of the twilight zone. My mom and I went here a few weeks ago. It was not busy, maybe 5 people in the restaurant. Cashier was with one person in front of us for about 10 minutes. Checked her out then the cashier just walked away. While we were in line. We stood there for about 5 minutes while she walked around, we finally flagged her down. My mom orders her meal as the cashier struggled though it. Half way through a manager comes from out of the back, looks at the cash register and says "that's not it" then disappears as we have to start over. My turn, I order a sandwich (not modified) and a coffee with almost milk. I watch the cashier press a variety of buttons for approximately 10 minutes. Different totals appeared, then disappeared on the screen. My mom and I just started at each other in wonder. We eventually finish and sit down. A while passed and my mom walked to the bathroom, saw what looked like out food on the counter. She asked a worker if that was for our table and was told "we're trying to figure that out". We get our food after some time and I asked the girl who brought it if there was for sure almond milk instead of regular milk in it, as I lost confidence in the staff by now. She said she didn't know and left. We don't even remember if the food was good, we just remember the absolutely weird experience. At least we got a good story out of it. read more

One year ago I would given panera a 5 star rating...maybe it's just the one in onalaska but the workers practically move in slow motion and constantly mess up my food. I ordered a Mediterranean veggie sandwich and got home to open a turkey bacon and mayo sandwich? I could see if they were busy but they were not. Waited a solid 15-20 minutes and not one person looked like they were happy to be there. Next time I will spend my money elsewhere. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because I love their smoothies. read more

Expensive and just average. $38 for 4 people and 2 of us got just soup and water, no drink. 2 breadbowl soups, 2 drinks, 1 "full" salad, and 1 "whole" sandwich. Salad and sandwich very small. Asked for a Mediterranean veggie sandwich without feta, and a black unsweetened iced tea. Very simple order. I received a Mediterranean veggie with feta and an ICED tea without ice. The line was too long to ask for a new one and I cannot eat dairy because of an allergy. So now I have waisted $10 on food I can't eat. read more

It is a little pricey, but they can be really good. I have taken my family to their drive thru before. Their drive thru service is better most fast food in regards to time and customer service itself. The food itself is really good, wish the smoothie size was bigger for the price though. I arrived at Panera with the intent of enjoying coffee, doing some computer work, and then eating lunch. I was unaware of Panera's Paleolithic, bone-headed peak hour policy, by which you are summarily booted off the internet after precisely half an hour, no ifs, ands, or buts, do not pass Go, do not collect $200. For someone whose primary source of income stems from computer work, this is a ludicrous proposition. In today's technologically advanced world, I am gobsmacked to find such an incredibly backward restaurant. Aside from the insult, decent. Food was pricey but good quality. Cashier was polite and efficient at her job considering she was the only one and the line went out the door. This is a great place to grab a coffee or a meal and connect to the free wifi. They have the best chicken wild rice soup. I absolutely love their tea selection. It's also a great place to warm up with a good book on cold nights. read more

Tried the Chicken Tortellini Alfredo... two syllables come to mind - GA and ROSS. Chicken looked like the kind you buy in the canned meat aisle. Pasta was mush with a weird aftertaste. Sauce seemed like it was out if a jar. They were out of cranberry orange muffins, blueberry, and apple muffins. In fact the bakery case looked pretty barren for a Sunday lunchtime. Baguette and broccoli cheese soup was the only saving grace. Way to many dirty tables for the end of the lunch rush. I went by two clean ones and thirteen dirty ones to get to a table I wanted to sit at. Lots of employees just standing around. read more

Panera food is prepared fast, but it is better and pricier than your typical fast food. I love the rapid pick up option and the drive-through for the ultimate pick up dinner. This Panera is very clean and welcoming. You can customize your order if you are vegetarian or eat gluten free. The soup menu is rotated and new menu items come out every few months. This place can be very busy on weekends at lunchtime; I try to avoid going there at high noon unless you have time to wait. read more

Love the new order kiosks. We used to stand in line forever at this location and this time we breezed through our order process with the kiosks. A nice lady brought our food to our table. Our soup was hot and our sandwiches delicious. Panera is a little more pricey than other "faster" food options but is worth it for the quality of what you receive. Went to Panera Bread this afternoon with an elderly, disabled woman for lunch. When we were checking out, we were asked if we wanted to purchase a cookie for $1. Initially we declined, but as we were leaving, we decided to ask if they would honor that offer. The first issue was that there were no less than 6 people in line and only one cashier. The frustrating thing was that you could see at least two managers amongst multitudes of people standing around talking and laughing. We finally got to the register and explained what we wanted, the cashier thoroughly grilled us on what we ordered and informed us despite her earlier offer, I would not qualify since I had water and not a drink. Whatever. Nancy didn't really want one anyway, so I ordered a chocolate chunk cookie. Then I am told, no, I cannot have that cookie. The sign right in front of the register, in BIG letters says ANY cookie. Their words. After waiting all this time and frustrated about the lack of service, I ask for a manager. The clerk ignored my request at first, intending on helping someone behind me or something until I insist on seeing a manager. Chelsea, as she told me was her name was one of the people whooping it up in back and when I asked about the the lack of a cashier she said she didn't have anyone else on the schedule. I asked her about her little party in back and she says they were in a middle of a shift change and there was important information to get out and they have a good time. Well, they continue to treat customers like this and they will have all the time in the world for a good time because they won't have a business. Came in on a Saturday night around 5:00. The place was not exceptionally busy, there was enough time for the employees to stand around and talk. What the employees did not do was take care of the restaurant. The dirty tables that surrounded us remained dirty the whole time we were there. We sent a sandwich back that was overdone. Litter on the floors, and the bathroom in need of cleaning. Very disappointing. read more

Have been coming here after church brunch for years. Enjoyed the consistency of the food, service & cleanliness for many years, but have noticed a steady decline over the past year or so. We went today after not returning for several months and found it has slid much father down in quality. They used to offer counter service for just bagels, pastries and bread at one location and the sandwiches, soup etc. at another. So, we waited patiently at counter to order a couple of meals. Although several staff looked at us none came over to assist. We then went over to the bagel counter and were told they didn't have the staff to work the other counter and we'd have to wait at end of long line here. Knowing the food was not that great the last time we had been here, we bailed and went elsewhere. Go to Green Grass Cafe instead - much better and friendly!! read more

Ordered lunch for my family (5 of us) using rapid pickup when driving through on my way to Chicago. When I picked up order, the counter supervisor handed it to me and said everything was ready to go. I hustled out to my car and hopped back on the road. When I went to pass out the orders (soups and salads) I realized they had not included the bread sides or the plastic ware. We were already back on the highway, so I had to stop at the next gas station to get utensils. Kids had no bread to eat with their $6 soups. read more
