There were only a few people at the bar, yet it took more than five minutes before he even acknowledged us. When he finally did, he seemed unsure about the menu and wasn't able to clearly answer basic questions. But being new isn't really the issue--we can all understand someone learning a new job. The problem was the complete lack of attentiveness and basic service. Once our food arrived, Christian never checked back to see how the food was, whether we needed anything, or if there was anything else he could get us. Our drinks sat empty for quite some time while we waited for him to notice that we needed refills. A restaurant can have great food and a great atmosphere, but poor service can ruin the entire experience. That's exactly what happened today. There is a basic level of attentiveness you expect when sitting at a bar, especially when it isn't particularly busy, and unfortunately we didn't receive it. Based on today's experience, the service alone would be enough to keep us from returning. Management really needs to address the level of training and customer service being provided behind the bar.
