Great food, classic style dinner that gives both varieties of food and shakes. Place is usually packed due to the size, but the wait is not crazy. You are seated upon entering the place. Ice cream, burgers, veggies, all fan fare favorites. Tv and music is entertaining the inside gives a cool zone with AC keeps you cool from outside heat. They have seating outside too. Large parking. It's been years since I've been here, and only due to distance. It was refreshing to return years later and the food is still fantastic, the staff is still friendly and helpful, and it was nice to see their remodel. They've expanded their seating area, adding 8-9 more tables, and moving their ice cream area. The chicken sandwich is fantastic, comes out crispy and fresh. The house made chill is very good, a slight cinnamon flavor which makes it unique. The fries are always nice and crispy. And the shakes are phenomenal. I call it a dirty burger and that's a great thing. Very busy place but they recognize you right as you walk in. There is a register and a person usually right there to guide you. You can eat outside tables or inside bar or tables. Fried foods are delicious not the healthiest place to eat but once in a while you can be bad. I'm into healthy eating but moderation is ok. Great shakes on a hot day. Burgers fries onion rings shakes etc. All a guilty pleasure and Shake Station is a great place to go. Cafe feel. I opted for the pineapple slaw but it was a miss for me, I should have went with the sweet potato tots. But the blue cheese chips were amazing and they did not skimp on the toppings. Atmosphere - Great. The restaurant has an old-time diner feel. There are about 20 booths and tables, as well as counter seating. Service - Excellent. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Food - Very Good. I ordered the Smash burger and a chocolate-peanut butter milkshake. The burger was cooked perfectly and the it tasted great. The burger came with fries and they were also very good. The shake was a great blend of chocolate and peanut butter. However, it was so thick I could not use a straw and I had to use a spoon for virtually the entire shake. I know that some might prefer this, but I like to drink my shake, as opposed to eating it like a cup of soft ice cream. Overall - I did enjoy the meal and if I were to return, I would ask that the shake be prepared so that it was less thick. I will also note that the meal was fairly pricey. read more

You know how you pass a place numerous times and never stop. Not today, a 50's diner vibe nice menu and friendly staff. Arrived around 11:45 by 12:15 not an open seat in the house. Food was good not great but they were slammed that's no excuse for coming out cold and needing to go back. My burger sat under the heat lamp around 15 minutes before the other order was ready. Came to table cold and onion rings also cold. Sent it back but I'm sure I got the same meal back in under 5 minutes most likely microwaved back to life. I will give the staff credit they do hustle covering a lot of ground. Will tray agin at some point but either earlier or after lunch rush. read more

I stubbled upon this place after making a trip to detwilers. I was actually really surprised at how cute and good this place was! This is absolutely a 50's small town diner vibe. With that said, expect your waitress to be in high-school or collage. Our waitress was a young girl and she was the sweetest! They have a pretty big many with lots of options. I recommend the buffalo chicken sandwich with the tator tots, it was out of this world good! I would also recommend getting a cherry soda (made in house with grenadine). If you read my reviews, you'll see that I'm obsessed with ice cream. It's my favorite food group and I have the body to show for it. I actually keep a list on my phone of the highest ranked ice cream shops in the US, and I plan to try all of them. Any time I travel, I always try the highest ranking ice cream shops wherever I am. Shake Station is practically in my backyard as I am a resident of Palmetto, FL for about 8 months out of the year and I am a regular at Shake Station. My review of the food is that it is good- it kind of reminds me of Bob's Big Boy type food, as it tastes better later in the evening. The ice cream is really what I go there for, and I really do like it, but I want to make a suggestion, which I will get to soon. The hand dipped ice creams are good, if not great. They have plenty of good flavors to choose from, with chocolate raspberry truffle being my favorite. They used to have a dark chocolate flavor at one time, but I haven't seen it in months, but I hope it comes back soon. The portions are great and the prices are excellent, especially compared to other ice cream shops in the area. The service is always good, the servers are mostly younger people who are always nice and friendly. My biggest issue with Shake Station is the way they make their hot fudge sundaes. They put the hot fudge in the bottom of the cup, then the ice cream on top, followed by whipped cream, nuts and a cherry. The problem is, by the time you get to the hot fudge, it is cold and very chewy, and it is stuck to the sides and bottom of the cup. I don't remember Shake Station doing this previously, but the last 5 times or so that I have been there, this has been the case, and it just ruins the sundae. Hot fudge is called a "topping" for a reason, not a "bottoming"- it should be served warm and placed on top of the ice cream. If Shake Station made this small change, I'm sure a lot of us sundae lovers would be very happy about it. We ate at this location twice last weekend believe it or not to really give it a good review because I was up in the air. I first want to say that that atmosphere and ambiance is pretty decent if you're looking for an old 50s burger joint feel. The service was not as bad as people made it out to be, everyone must take into account that they are all young people serving us probably not seasoned waiters and waitresses. We ordered the chicken wrap, cheese burger and fries, Pattie melt, and fried green tomatoes. The Pattie melt we will take a pass on for the future, the cheese burger was average, the chicken wrap was tasty, but small with one chicken finger in it, the fries were great for traditional all around fries, and the fried green tomatoes were also ok. This was my first time trying this restaurant and I don't regret it! If you come here, expect friendly service and delicious, fresh food but brace yourself for the place to STAY busy! I had the Big LT with fried green tomatoes and sweet tater tots as my side. The sandwich was on Texas toast and so big I could only eat half! I don't like crinkle fries but the crinkle fries were crispy and better than my sweet potato tots. The tangy sauce that comes on the smash burger is very good! The peanut butter milkshake was great too. My one complaint was that even though there is a sign on that door saying "Service Animals Only" two guys with two dogs came in. This spot is a little greasy spoon like spot serving ice cream, shakes, burgers and a few other sandwiches. The place is always busy and when we arrived, there was a wait to sit inside. We grabbed a table outside. Service was fast and friendly. We both got a burger and a chocolate malt. I rolled with a double mushroom Swiss burger with bacon. Our food came up quick and looked good. The shake was pretty average, but the burger was tasty. It was seasoned, not overcooked, and definitely juicy. I was happy with my selection as was my coworker. Decent spot worth checking out. Decided to take another country drive in Fritz (10/6) and saw this place on Google maps, tagged it and read some of reviews, didn't sound bad and from the looks of the map, seemed like it was a roadside joint sort of in the country. Closer I got to 301 the more developments I encountered. Once I got on 301 south the traffic was heavy, it was around 12:30 after all. This part of 301 is getting built up with strip malls and made it difficult to keep an eye out for the Shake Station. Then I saw it on the south side of 301 and like other posts, the parking lot was full. Found a spot. Made my inside and yep, done up like a 50's malt shop, I liked it. Counter seating was full so I took a booth. Sat there for a moment before I presented a menu, it was busy. Didn't take long to order. I ordered the cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and onion with a side of fries and a coke. From the size of the crowd, I was prepared to wait. Spent my time checking out all the memorabilia on the walls. Then it arrived, presentation was good. Fresh LTO and bun, but for some reason I was expecting a smash burger, this was not. I would say it was a frozen patty. Fries were crinkle cut, not bad. All in all, food was good, nothing spectacular. I will have to come back and try the BLT someone was raving about. Great 1st visit...is it any wonder that after 3+ years of driving past almost daily, I made a mindful decision to stop for lunch. Suprise- surprise...there is indoor "and " outdoor dining...(THE MAIN ENTRANCE IS ON THE SIDE!!) There is a quaint diner inside with A/C...and a great covered, emore rustic deck on the outside. I've always wanted to try this place out, not because of any reviews I've read. But every time I drive by I always observe the parking lot full of vehicles. Today we stopped and my wife had the impossible cheese steak sandwich and fries. She really liked it but the fries were not done so those were a miss. I had a bacon cheeseburger burger on swish cheese and onion rings. My burger was average but I was very disappointed with the onion rings. My onion rings were overcooked with a few of them burned and I only got a few to begin with. We had shakes and they were very delicious and I would definitely recommend getting one. We have been here over 15 times since moving to Ellenton on June 21. The food has always been delicious and the service outstanding! It really is sad when there is one person on staff that completely ruin our night tonight. She treated us like we were a bother since we were only ordering ice cream. She was snippy and very abrupt. When she brought our ice cream out, what a disappointment. My single scoop cake cone was barely of the brim of the cone and my hubby's triple scope barely came half way up the 16oz cup it was served in. She never checked in on us one single time as she brought the check with the ice cream. We'll be back, but I can guarantee Nikki won't be serving us. read more
