Shockingly bad service. After a long wait for the cashier I ordered the Asian Salad with baked potato with butter. I was told the butter was where the prepared food was placed on the counter for customer pickup. Order after order was put out. My friend had almost finished his order and I asked the preparer about my order. I looked at my receipt and saw that it was rung up as a salad with potato soup, not the baked potato that I ordered. That order had sat there on the counter for some time. I asked the preparer if she could replace the soup with the baked potato that I ordered and was scolded, "We don't have baked potatoes." I did not want potato soup. After getting snapped at instead of being offered something else, I took the soup and salad to my table. The Asian salad was delicious! Too bad the portion was smaller than a mini-mouse could be satisfied with. It would take 8 of these salads to equal a real salad. I fished out the tiny potato blocks from the gooey cheesy mess and tried to eat all of them, but couldn't get through them. The tiny piece of bread was OK. Came here to hang out with some family while Milton was come through. Been a while since I've been to Panera but as always they make good quality food. Most of the Panera restaurants got rid of the Italian sandwich, but notice this location did not. Had to order it and it did not let me down! It had great flavor and dripping with Italian dressing. The meat was cooked perfectly and went great with a pack of potato chips. Service was good too as they weren't slammed but steady. Food was made quickly and ready for me to take to the table once we all got our drink's situated. Will probably be back once another storm comes our way. read more

It had 1/3 of 1 grape tomato in it and 5 small diced pieces of chicken in it. Almost all of it was lettuce and dress ing in it. All for $14. It was worth $1 to me and i was going to return it but didn't want to hassle with it. My friend's tuna sandwich was also chintzy, not very much tuna in it. It's a chain but this one is in a great location and the service was friendly and fast. It's right in Sumter Landing Square, in The Villages and just across from Starbucks. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is covered, so a great spot to have dinner and listen to the nightly music (which is free and starts at 5pm). I've been to this location several times. On my most recent visit, I had the Green Goddess Chicken salad. So fresh and tasty. This one is my favorite salad. I'm gluten free and they do not offer any gluten free bread, but the salad is a great option. My friend had the seasonal squash soup with warm bread and really enjoyed it. read more

This is a very big Panera and it was busy in the middle of one of the centers in the Villages. Missing are the tablets to order, only a register to order. A little weird. I guess I came at the wrong time, all cans with half and half, 2% and skim milk and almond milk were empty. After they were refilled, the iced coffee container was empty. It's a chain.. but if you want a fast excellent salads of any type -Panera bread is the place to go. The Cobb salad we tried was first - no other place in the villages has a Cobb salad- well prepared with egg and a tasty dressing - second - the Greek salad (we tried this at a later time) was full of olives and the pepperacini are now sliced and spread on the salad -- much tastier! I pretty much only go to Panera Bread for breakfast and my most consistent item that I order is a bagel and cream cheese. The service here was friendly and professional and the ambiance is what you would expect from a Panera Bread. The place was pretty busy when I was here, but I guess that's because you have a lot of fans of Panera Bread. Panera Bread has helped me turn an early morning business meeting from a lot of grumpy faces to smiling faces. It is amazing what a culinary bribe can do to change morale and shift the vibe of a meeting to a more positive mood. I would definitely recommend this particular location of Panera Bread on the strength of their breakfast. read more

Paneras can be really hit or miss. It's not a consistent experience across the chain, but this one was pretty good. Super popular and seems larger that others, with nice outdoor seating. I was with my 93 year old FIL and it's a go-to spot for him and I can see why. the "pick two" deal is great. He has a monthly membership card for $10 which give free drinks, any time. You don't have to purchase food. So he stops there a lot in the morning when he's going out for "free" coffee. idk if all Paneras do this but it's the first time I've heard of this great deal. Service was fine, food came out quickly. Turkey chili was on point, so was the avocado/bacon sandwich. I'm rounding up a bit because this might be the nicest Panera I've been to. read more

Was in the Villages area and decided to get Panera. They don't seem to be as many menu options as they used to have however, there are still some pretty good choices for a quick and healthy lunch. Panera has been a favorite of mine- I am thrilled for the kiosk installation several years ago ~ prior to that, I always claimed it was a sit down menu with fast food ordering setup! We were recently in The Villages and stopped by Panera for tea. Being from St. Louis, the home of StLouis Bread and now called Panera, we were accustomed to the store being a certain way. As the store is a Franchise, they might not completely follow the guidelines of the Home Office. The picture attached show a version of their soufflé with cheese. After buying it and taking a bite, I was greatly disappointed with it being virtually all bread and very little internal contents. I showed the Manager, who was great and offered to either replace or offer something else at no extra cost. She was great, but I urged her to show the people who made it and to express my dissatisfaction with it. Having known how they should be, I politely shared that. So, as a Franchise in my opinion, it does no good to irritate people with products that do. It inspire future sales. Also, as it was a Sunday and maybe extra busy, why not install kiosks where people can order, pay and if there is a cup needed for tea or coffee, get started by grabbing that? They were so busy that I used my own thermos for hot tea and left $3.00 cash on their counter. They had 3 registers going and lines out the door. So, self-ordering makes a huge difference and should be considered there, as it is done in St. Louis. I should also point out that their iced tea is THE BEST and I have always loved and raves about that. Generally, the staff has always been wonderful and so maybe the owner should consider updating to a better, more user friendly design. And for $12.40 it's ridiculous when you can get way more filling salads at other nearby restaurants for about the same price more or less. Tip-ask for dressings on side. Not a Panera fan! Dogs, dogs - everywhere dogs. Big sign on patio - NO DOGS!! People don't care because, no matter how much people complain, dog owners do not care and management enforcement is trivial!! Great way to ruin an otherwise good experience. Of course, the food is still ok and coffee good but the continue to have empty pots throughout the morning. Now they changed the set up and pots are smaller so they run out even more often. I can't ever get too enthused about a corporate establishment. But it's a good spot in a nice location to sit for awhile over some coffee and read or talk to friends. I'm only giving it 3 stars instead of 4 because they are always out of cranberry muffins, and so I have had to settle for blueberry each time I've been here. The service at the counter could also be more consistent, too. The Spanish Springs location has a much better track record on both counts. Anyway, I'll most likely be back. read more

Pros: same Panera menu offered elsewhere Cons: harried staff, always crowded, not enough staff, food quality not as good as other locations...just needs help to get up to par with other locations. September 25,2022. Went for lunch at approximately 14:00 on a Sunday. Very quiet, ordered Asian salad with chicken. Usually very good. The prep person made salad that was supposed to be full salad. Really small, barely filled bowl. I asked " that's a full salad?" Answer: "yea man, that's it ". Next: "do you have butter for the bread?" Answer: go to the cashier she has it.
