Two salads ordered both were wrong. Simple garden salad without croutons or cheese had both; and grilled chicken salad (no customization) had no cheese. Once I removed all the cheese and croutons from mine and put it on the other salad, all that was left was lettuce with very little tomato or cucumber. There was one customer in the store when we picked up the order. The outside order slips were correct so we assumed salads were too. We were wrong. I am so impressed with, I'm guessing, the new management of this location. So many employees to help get the food out quick and even to come to the tables to ask if you need a refill. So much better customer service than it was before. The only thing that I keep noticing that needs to be cleaned is the napkin dispensers on the tables. Always dusty and grimy. I've ordered carryout online from McAllister's deli previously, but had never clicked on the little information button next to the taxes and fees. When I placed my order today I clicked on the button, turns out they charge a fee to use their website when you place an online order, this is absolutely absurd and while the fee is minimal, are they gonna start charging people fees if you want to dine in and use the chair or sit at a table. We had never eaten at a McAlisters. We are in the villages visiting. We asked the counter help what is good and he didn't steer us wrong. I had the Ruben which was amazing, my hubby had the jalapeño Turkey crunch which he really enjoyed. Both are side was Broccoli which was cooked perfectly. Worst McCallisters I've ever been to. The cashier with the long hair and glasses is rude and mumbles when he speaks. The kids in the kitchen obviously don't care at all about what they send out. All in all, not bad. The only gripe I have is the value or cost versus the food size/flavor. For the same amount of money, I know there are places that are the same or less expensive and offer quality that is better. I love iced tea and so I had several refills at the $4.00 price. The service was pretty good, but busy as it was lunch time. So, given that, I thought the staff did a good job. I'm not sure if all stores are priced the same as I was in a tourist area, where I would expect it to be priced higher. Also, being a vegetarian, I am very limited as to choices. My wife eats meat and she found her needed gluten free options. I only wish they had a bit more choices for me. I asked about removing the chicken from the $13 salad and was told that it would still cost the same whether with or without chicken. So, for the vast majority, you will like it. If you are picky about food or price sensitive, then you may find it not to your liking. One last thing is, I do know that their cookies are good. This sandwich gem was a bit of a surprise. We stopped in for a quick snack, and I was immediately impressed with their roast beef and horseradish sub.. yummy to the core. However, their chicken and dumpling soup was something that I will have to order again and again. It reviled Grandma's soup, and trust me, that is saying a lot. I have never been a fan of McAlister's but my wife loves the baked potatoes there so occasionally I'll go but I've never liked it until now. I had the half of roast beef club and the chicken tortilla soup. I did ding them one star because the tortilla soup is better at Jason's deli but it was still okay. The real star was the sandwich, the spicy mustard and horseradish were excellent. I'm glad that they finally have something I really like. Nice size restaurant with additional tables for outside dining. Kind of reminds me of Panera Bread with similar menu and ordering style. Stand in line to order and pay, but, different then Panera bc you are given a number to place on your table and food is brought to the table rather than standing and waiting for it. Menu had soups, sandwiches and salads. Pick 2 combos...half sandwich, soup, salad or half of a spud. Line was slow at lunch bc only one person was taking orders and line was just outside the door. Most tables needed to be bussed...I moved some dirty dishes so we could have a table. Finally someone came to buss tables and I asked her to wipe ours. She forgot and came while we were eating. Since our food was on a tray it wasn't a big deal. My guess is they were short staffed. My menu choice was the pick 2. I ordered the broccoli soup and half sandwich...chipotle chicken on ciabatta roll. Soup was good but I did not pick right on the sandwich. It was tiny and lack luster. Menu made it sound better. Hubby picked much better...he ordered the signature deli sandwich and salad. Hubby commented that when you pay the tip comes up as well. Shouldn't the tip come after being served? After all, we only ordered. Just sayin'. Overall, It was just okay for me...I would not go out of my way but fine if nearby and hungry. We love McAlister's. Whether we're in TN or FL it is always a great healthy way to enjoy lunch. This is generally a great location and it is our local. The food is always, fresh, the restaurant clean and the staff friendly and efficient. My only disappointment is that the new app has a wonderful feature called Tableside that is not available here and we're just not sure why. Especially as we're all starting to get out and about more, as an extra layer of protection, it seems as if it should be a no-brainer. Also, there is no way to add coupons to the app when setting up to pay on your phone. It's a double whammy. RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATION: Our favorite deli in The Villages, by far, is McAllister's in Brownwood Market Square. The food is pricey, but also always consistently good. I had the baked potato with veggies and cheese which was delicious, but so large I ended up bringing half of it home. My hubby had the grilled cheese and tomato on ciabatta with potato salad. The ciabatta bread was particularly good and the potato salad was excellent. Our son had the Italian sandwich and broccoli cheddar soup. He raved about both. The restaurant did a good job of moving a large crowd in and out. Our server was really hopping. We find McAllister's consistently better than TooJay's, which has a delicious Matzoh Ball soup, but is very hit or miss on other entrees. We also enjoy it better than Panera's at Lake Sumter. The last time we were there my broccoli cheddar soup looked like it had been scrapped from the bottom of the pot. My son's salad was tiny and very much not worth the price. But, I digress. I liked it. Maybe it'll even get a 4 on my next visit. Had tomato soup which was delicious along with a side of broccoli. One friend had a salad, which was huge, and the other some meat and bread and gravy concoction. Everyone's plates were wiped clean by the end of the meal. It's kinda like a Panera type ambience except you get a number on a stand you bring to your table and the food is served to you. They offer potatoes with a variety of toppings, which is what I'll check out next visit. I love getting potatoes out as you don't see that on menus that often. It's in the Brownwood square and is your low key choice along with Five Guys, but this is better for healthy vegetarians as you have more from which to choose. read more

Attention All Pharma and Medical Reps!! Don't use this place for your lunches. You absolutely cannot count on this place to get it right. Nightmare service stay away!!!! I'm a medical sales rep and I placed an online order at 9:30 in the morning for pick up at noon. When I arrived no one was working on my order. I was told by the male cashier upfront that no one had called to confirm my order so my order wasn't going to be worked on. In essence they were blaming me for not taking care of an online order. I showed the cashier my online order on my phone it said it was complete, it was going to be ready at 11:45, I had an order number, my credit card has been charged and his attitude was this is my fault. I was told they could make it in 45 minutes but that would defeated the purpose of my business lunch. My doctors office was irritated that I had to find food elsewhere and was 30 minutes late. I also lost my opportunity to speak to a key physician. Complete waste of my time The staff is completely incompetent and arrogant. For me, this was a stop as I came off the turnpike. The sign was a little deceptive making me believe it was closer. I never imagined I was entering "The Village". I'm too young for admission! I have been to McAlister's in other cities and know it's going to be a chain deli. It was exactly as expected. As I see in other reviews, the staff appear to be very young people and our counter person didn't know what chives / scallions were and put raw onions on our potato instead. My sandwich was just as ordered and delicious if not a bit skimpy on the turkey. The mac and cheese was also tasty but the soup was the true winner. It was a spicy chicken tortilla and really hit the spot. The tables were clean and cleared as quick as customers got up.
