We first tried the nearby restaurant NYPD and walked out as they could accommodate our needs. We ordered the American Toss and it was big enough for 2. But the dressing was slightly oily, maybe not mixed so well. It did taste good though. We also ordered a GF pizza with half Kala Mata olives and roasted red peppers. I like the olives much better and it was cooked perfectly. The crust was crispy and not soggy as some places under cook it. The service was fast and staff were all so friendly! Yesterday we wanted to get some chicken cutlets. We called the restaurant and they told us that they had plenty of them and that they would be closing at 4 o'clock. When we called it was 3:20 and we were 15 minutes away. We arrived right before 3:40, they were closed already. They were inside we could see them from outside. There was an old man who wanted to complain about a double charge that they had made to his credit card. He knocked on the door and they just looked at us and didn't have the courtesy of explain why would they close early, even though I had just called and told them I was going that way to get the chicken cutlets. Minutes later there was this lady leaving fast, with this huge bag of food (I could tell). I was and still furious. This is no way to treat customers.... And overcharging an old man... that's even more concerning. Be aware!!! read more

Saturday night we decided to head over to Gio's for dinner after hearing lots of good things about this restaurant. Located off of 301 in Oxford, we found the food tasty and the environment cozily charming complete with accordion player and guitarist. Our waiter was very competent, even making a selection change for us after we ordered. We started with a very smooth Italian red. They don't serve bread, but the pasta fagioli soup was good. Heavy on the beans, it was vegetarian just the way I like it. For entrees, my husband ordered the bolognese. He really enjoyed it. I got the special, cacio e pepe, and it was delicious; cheesily creamy and very peppery. We finished with espresso, which was nice, and the chocolate Dubai cheesecake which was, unfortunately, not. It was very dry and pretty tasteless--the only miss of the night. Overall, if you like authentic Italian you'll be very happy here. But the restaurant is small and they don't take reservations for parties under six. We waited about half an hour. Since there is no bar, it wasn't a pleasant wait, but the end result was well worth it. My advice: go early or late but be aware that they do close at 8:00 pm. read more

It's not bad. The Rigatoni was so much better the 2nd day and the atmosphere is casual. There was a pianist performing and it seemed like a real regular's kind of spot. The cannoli was really good. If I could rate this higher than 5 stars than I would. The absolute best salad I've ever had. A heavy looking thick crust pizza was super light. We also got an Italian sub that was fresh and tasty. First things first. The food was good. If it was just about the taste they would have gotten a couple of more stars. I was with a group and we were promptly seated. First thing I noticed when I picked up the menu is that the table was sticky. The room we were seated in was very loud and I had to yell at people seated with me to be heard. My lunch was a sausage, pepper, and onion sandwich. It was tasty but there wasn't very much there. It came on a plate with nothing else. No sauce, no chips, no cole slaw ... nothing. A small sandwich just there by itself. I will say that other dishes, served at my table, looked much more appetizing. One person at my table, who ordered a corned beef sandwich, commented that it was good but there was no mustard. Just Wow! First time here and first off the lady working as the cashier/to go was absolutely in a very bad mood, rude and her face was so unhappy. I have never seen anybody working at any restaurant/food place that was this bad. She was short with me rude and impatient . I ordered the classic Italian sandwich and a piece of carrot cake to go. She said 20 mins and it was ready in 10. She bagged it up... No napkins, no fork etc. She just wanted me out of there. The beautiful, fresh cakes in the display case are not what you're going to get. They apparently have some behind the counter that looked like they have already been partially eaten and days old. Unbelievable! (See photo) The sandwich was nothing special with no mayo or anything on it. They give you a little tiny container of vinaigrette which isn't enough ....but the bread appeared fresh . Food has really gone downhill. The calamari we had tonight was awful. The breading used is off putting and to top it all our plate included flash fried spaghetti. The waiter told us it was used as a filler on the plate! The bruschetta pizza was so so but runny! Delicious Italian Market and Restaurant. Went here for lunch and tried the Godfather sandwich. It was turkey, ham, roast beef and provolone with lettuce, tomato and olive oil/vinegar. If you ask for it toasted, they melt the cheese which was delicious. They also have Gluten Free buns which allowed me to enjoy a sandwich. They have a nice selection of sandwiches, pizzas and salads. Our table also tried the fried zucchini fries with marinara which were a winner - not greasy, crispy with a sprinkle of parm cheese. There is also a dessert case to die for - huge pieces of cheese cake and super stuffed cannoli, just to name a few. You can do sit down or take out. We took home some of the pasta and my family enjoyed it. They are apparently also open for dinner on the weekends but sounds like you want to get their early, as the wait can be pretty long and it's not a big dining room.
