I'm truly puzzled by the reviews. 4 of us had lunch on Sunday Jan. 6 and everything was fine. Our soup and salads were tasty and fresh. Even though this is an eatery based on the main ingredient being bread, they were more than happy to give us an apple as our side since we don't eat bread due to dietary restrictions. And the apple was fresh and crisp and juicy. If you are looking for gluten free foods, for heavens sake don't go to a restaurant that specializes in bread. The service was fast, the associates were friendly and the restaurant was clean. No complaints here. All 4 of us would go back. read more

We used to eat here often but no more. The new cashier make a mistake on our order, no big deal. She had to have the manager Katie come over to correct the order in the system. Katie blamed us for the cashiers mistake because we didn't use the specific term "duo" for the special that was advertised by signs in the restaurant. Her apology for the mistake, though none was needed, was a snide "sorry you feel that way". We will never eat there again. She then snickered, like it was funny to treat us so rudely. read more

I like the breads and sandwiches. I staff is usually rude, if not rude they act like they hate working there. They throw the orders on the counter with such disregard. I almost never get asked to enter my loyalty phone number, I get irritated that they don't seem to want me to get reward points. The only reason I recommend them is that they are the only option for this type offers baked breads in the square. The salads I have got there have been very inconsistent, sometime the correct amount of ingredients and other times not even close. read more

Visited PB today and found out the soda machine was broken and they were out of tea. When I placed my order I asked if the med veggie sandwich could be made vegan. After receiving an affirmative I decided to check the order on the receipt. Sure as day, feta cheese was still on the ticket. We asked the cashier if she could remove it - she did but my point is, don't agree if you don't know/follow through. While I try to "keep my eyes on my own paper" we did hear several others having various issues with food and service while we were here. It seems as though we weren't the only ones with issues. I went in for a loaf of bread and the cashier walked over like he had glue in his shoes and a comatose stare. When I went to pay there is a box that says how much do you want to tip...are they kidding! What's up with this tipping madness...I order a loaf of bread, he hands it to me and I tip him. For what? I'm hating on Panera a lot less these days. I do enjoy the soups and the warm French bread. It's fun to actually indulge in the bread bowl soup from time to time too. Salad alone is ginormous. Soup and salad is just enough food. When I tried the beet / quinoa, the beets were still frozen. Totally not enjoyable. The green goddess without the meat is delicious. The only pastry I like when in the mood is the bear claw. And I do crave the passion fruit iced tea quite often. Staff at the moment are friendly and efficient. The outdoor seating at this location is a big plus. read more

Leave it to impossible-to-please and demanding Villagers to leave one star reviews over the pettiest things. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this Panera. It follows the same standards EVERY single Panera Bread follows and I would say it even exceeds most of those standards. I've been here nearly every day this week to use the free wifi and every time I've stopped in, I've noticed employees cleaning, taking plates and trays from customers, and taking out the trash from the bins. The management and employees are all friendly and helpful, from my experience. I brought my sister and mother here for lunch and we all have dietary concerns, which can be frustrating for us and I'm sure the cashier who needs to stand and listen to us go on with how we need our food prepared. No one has ever made me feel like I'm inconveniencing them by being specific about how I need my food prepared. I've had one issue where I asked for the dressing on the side of my salad and when I went to pick my food up, I discovered it was on the salad, but all it took was asking to have it remade and they did without any issue. If something is wrong with your order, all you have to do is ask and the staff here will immediately fix it for you, which is great! Because this store is located in the middle of Lake Sumter Landing, it can get overwhelmingly busy around lunchtime, but other than that, this Panera is amazing. read more

They have changed the menu so much,that they hardly have any of the items that bring me coming back. I had a favorite salad and soups and sandwich; but the only thing left of what I went there for is the two soups. Oh and I like the ice coffee also. Prices have gone up and the amount of salad has gone down. You ask for small salad, the small bowl would be to the top of the bowl, now you get a half bowl. They had the best black bean soup but it is gone and so is the ham sandwich. read more

I've had so many bad experiences at this location, I've stopped going there. It's not worth the price. I can get a better deli sandwich at Publix for half the price. It's a Panera. Food is decent and consistent, but you may get bored after visit number 5. That said, it's still a go-to for lunch when visiting the Villages, given the other chainy (pronounced "Cheney") choices. Go for the "pick two", and include a salad or soup. The macncheese has some appeal too. read more

4/19/21- my first visit back to Panera after the COVID shut down was met with a rude cashier. She was immediately irritated when she could not understand me through my mask and behind the glass shield. She became more agitated as I could not follow some instructions she was giving me. I have poor vision and had a difficult time following. I was embarrassed and felt like I was on display to all waiting in line. Instead of helping she just got louder. Panera is always a good pit stop in my book and this location is just as good as the rest except it can get insanely busy as it's right in the middle of the busiest shopping district in the villages. Love the coffee and free wifi guys keep it up. read more

I hosted a meeting with 12 people. I was able to reserve their private room at no cost since I ordered food. I had everyone pick out what they wanted and submitted the order 24 hours in advance. The order was delivered to the room by smiling employees. The food was fresh, delicious and enjoyed by all. We were checked on a couple times to be sure everything was ok. I am becoming more and more frustrated with this restaurant. We had several problems tonight. First, the kid behind the cash register (Kyle) got my wife's order wrong. She ordered one drink and then charged her for two. And then as she was swiping her loyalty card he grabbed it out of her hand. When she got back to our table she was so mad I thought she would want to leave right then. I had a problem also. As my wife was ordering I went to the bathroom. I washed my hands and then found out there were no paper towels and the sink area was a mess. As I left the bathroom I stopped and told the manager. He said he would get right on it. Our food was good and that is why I am giving them 2 stars and not lower The final problem was as we were leaving I went back to the bathroom to blow my nose. This was at least 15-20 minutes later. Still no towels. The only person who seemed to know what he doing was Cliff who offered to help as I was taking our trays back. Very poor customer service tonight Panera. Oh yes- I almost forgot-- they are now asked for a tip at the cash register. Not a chance!! read more

Ordered delivery for the first time from Panera in Sumpter Landing and we are unimpressed. Paid for 2 pieces of extra bread which were checked off on the receipt but not included in my bag unless the driver ate them. And asked for bacon on a sandwich but didnt get it even though it too was "checked." Disappointing. read more

The the food and service are as good as any Panera, but this is one of the worst layed out Pantera I have been too.

So your soda machine is broken. All you have is water and lemonade. Not bad lemonade though. However went to get a refill and went to the new kid, don't think he knew you weren't suppose to refill for free. After the other people I was with that got there food, I went up to get ours. Well it was just sitting there. Not sure why they even gave me a pager thing if your just gonna yell out my name. While waiting for the refill for the lemonade, two people came back to say that the orders were wrong. Even my partners order had cheese after we told them he has an allergy. Needless to say, find somewhere else to go. Totally not worth the $30 for a lunch. I should have made it all myself for about $10. Lesson learned. read more

Was excited to enjoy breakfast with my daughter this morning and was met with a rude cashier Shellie or (Rochelle named on ticket) Was not smiling at all. Very unfriendly demeanor She automatically started giving a sign of irritation. We were placing our order and wanted to make sure she heard us so we repeated it nicely and she started getting overly aggravated and said "I GOT IT" in a aggravated tone. Then with my daughter still waiting. I just ran to grab a napkin was YELLED at in front of people not to go anywhere when my daughter 15 yrs old was clearly waiting there and I told her I was just grabbing a napkin and she said something rude to my sweet daughter. I spoke with manager Demetria who was very sweet. She saved our experience from being a very bad 1 to a solid 3 with her kindness. I do not know if we will be returning to this location. The cashier was overly rude. Very put off by the unwelcoming experience of shellie (Rochelle on our ticket) people skills definitely need much improvement!!! read more

I usually stop in there on Sunday mornings for coffe and some sort of breakfast . Food is panera quality. The big problem with this place is its ALWAYS RUNNING OUT OF COFFEE AND CREAM AND MILK! It's been there for years and you think they would have it figured out by now. There is usually two pots of each , decaf, reg, dark, and the dreaded hazelnut coffee. Who the heck drinks that stuff in the morning? Anyway the first thing someone wants in the morning is coffee and sometimes you wait 20 mins or more. By then there is a crowd waiting at the pots and it becomes a compition to get a cup. No place that advertises coffee should ever run out. The person who is in charge or the person who is suppose to keep an eye on the coffee just doesent care in my opinion. I also noticed that some of the entitled seniors bring their own drinking cup in. Most are much bigger that the large you pay for and some bring in something that looks like a small thermos bottle which looks to hold a lot more that what you would pay, for a reg cup . I watched some people as they pay for a small cup and they go to the pots they pull out this huge thing and fill it up. Not very honest. I saw one woman question an employee and said by the time she got her coffee her breakfast would be cold. The employee just srugged her shoulders as if to say , so what do you want me to do about it. They need someone on the weekends to really care about what's going on. My suggestion, go real early you won't be disapointed and you might actually get some place to sit and eat. Seating that's another free for all. Watch as hordes of seniors come thru the doors and the pairs break off and grab tables and SAVE seats for their large breakfast party. Disgraceful ! We've been to a lot of Paneras and I have never had faster service than in this one in The Villages,Florida. Before we could sit down the buzzer went off and our order was ready. We both had ordered soup and half sandwich. I had the onion soup and Italion meat sandwich. Both were excellent. I always get the onion soup at Panera and it is one of the best anywhwere. It has a unique flavor yet you know it is onion soup. My wife had the turkey classic sandwich and veggie soup and liked them both. The bread at Panera is always excellent. If you're in the area,don't be put off by the apparantly crowded store, because they are fast,fast.,fast at this Panera. read more

I love the food here but nothing like spending your entire lunch break standing at panera because the "Rapid" pick up isn't ready until 30 minutes after the pick up time. What made it worse was that another co worker who ordered well after me had hers right on time while I'm still waiting. I like to go to Panera once in a while for breakfast, but I always have to bring my own coffee due to not liking how their coffee tastes. So I forgot my coffee this time and decided to try out a smoothie. I went for the green one, figured I get some nutrition at the same time. The smoothie tasted good, the problem was that cup was not full, I would say about another good four ounces would of filled it up. The cup was not even that big to begin with. For the price of the smoothie, it's not worth what you get. Will not be getting that again! read more

For the last 3 years, each time I go there I have had extended wait time to order. Usually just one casher . I have stopped going there. read more

I order from this location because it's conveniently located to my work. Often when I order from Rapid pick up the food quality is disappointing. I have ordered the chicken noodle soup and open it to find only broth or soup that's obviously not fresh. And today a burnt bagel. Truly awful! Not a single gluten-free option on the breakfast menu (even the souffle had pastry and the Greek yogurt was pre-made with non-GF granola). The bacon/egg/cheese sandwich on "brioche" was really a thin slice of egg product, a cold cheese slice and a translucent slice of bacon on a hamburger bun. The pre-made Greek yogurt cups were pasty with chewy granola. The place was dimly lit and depressing, and even the bathrooms were dirty with sticky floors. I guess they've got a captive audience in The Villages, but this out-of-towner was not impressed. Yikes! read more

Used to be a favorite, three meals a week at minimum. Gradually, the portions became smaller and smaller while the prices went up, not down with the portion size. Gradually the coffee was not replaced as often, but, while very drinkable, nothing like it used to be (is anything?). The wonderful soups slowly, gradually, became incredibly salty, I mean right up there with Campbell's canned "salt water" soups. Next the kind of unwashed, dark limp, lettuce they started putting on the sandwiches. The chicken, bacon, avocado sandwiches no longer had slices of avocado, a tiny "dap" of a "green something", way way too green to be avocados. Next, cold, really old bacon, limited to ONE slice. I would often have 2 decent bowls of chicken noodle soup a week, and one with literally nothing but bullion flavored water. When I finally got a bowl (larger than the "cup" of soup, but surprise, the same amount in a larger container) and found EXACTLY 6 HALF NOODLES, 4 pieces of carrot, and absolutely no chicken what so ever, it was too much. I took it to the back counter and VERY politely asked if could possibly have something put into the broth. The young woman looked very confused, said without anger, but also with no interest, "it HAS stuff in it". No, I said, please look. She went over to the soup, this time put the ladle DEEP into the bottom of the pot, and told me very matter of fact, there is nothing else IN HERE, see ? I was really stunned. Just shook my head, walked away. That was the last lunch for someone who bought at least two $50 cards a month, some months three ! I limited my visits to an occasional cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll, those once wonderful cinnamon rolls. A few weeks ago (can't remember exactly when), could not believe the cinnamon rolls were GONE (forever ? perhaps, looks like it ?). In their place are a BAD version of the pan style cinnamon rolls found at Publix and most every chain grocery you can think of. Even the frozen ones in the grocery you heat yourself are much better. I will miss he wonderful Panera's with the generous soup and sandwiches, with soups whose first/primary ingredient was NOT salt, and when the bread and cinnamon rolls were to die for. read more
