I realized I have automatic suspicion of pizza places in a shopping center. Panino's disrupted that totally. Two of us came in for a test run. They have a selection of pizza styles, New Haven, East coast, Chicago thin and deep dish and Neapolitan. We ordered the side salad and cream of chicken soup and the 14" Chicago thin crust. Had the sausage, pepperoni and 1/2 olive and 1/2 anchovies. The sad and soup came quickly. Both were fresh and the salad dressing as well. I agree with the old recommendations on the soup. The pizza was huge and crispy. Lots of fresh tomato sauce and stringy cheese. They have a bar with an okay wine list. But we ordered sodas. The staff and service were super friendly and helpful. They have a huge menu and we'll be back again. read more

Great food, great service, better people! Ordered a heat shaped pizza and heart cakes for Valentine's Day dinner with the family as we do every year. Driver arrived promptly with not only our food but an additional pizza. Driver tells me the owner (Lenny) remembered our conversation from 5 years ago regarding the Grandmas pie not being the same as years past in not a good way. Let me know then the recipe changed causing a change in the dough so stopped ordering this specific pizza. He sent the pizza for me/us to try again as the recipe has been changed back to before and it was absolutely fantastic!! Will definitely get back to ordering on a regular basis. I came here with my 3 kids for dinner after a friend recommended it as her favorite pizza spot. We walked in an hour before closing are were warmly greeted. Multiple different workers went out of their way to show my kids a good time. People were incredibly generous and kind and my kids loved every second of the attention. We ordered a 16 inch extra thin cheese and sausage . Pizza was delicious. Extra crispy think crust, perfectly looked and perfect amount of cheese. Crinkle cut fries were surprisingly good too . I've patronized this establishment several times and I've always been satisfied! Well I decide to order delivery last week and was given an estimated time of 75 minutes.. I ordered my toppings on one side and just all cheese on the other side for my picky toddler. The delivery guy came sooner than the projected ETA and had two boxes, I figured he had picked up the wrong order, but he politely apologized and informed me that they had messed up my offereorder so they gave me the pizza I ordered with all my toppings and a free small cheese pizza!! This is what keeps me as a customer, they could have easily made me wait longer with no explanation, but they handled the error with integrity and that my friend's is the epitome of Great Customer service! They need to update their website to clearly indicate that they only offer takeaway and not dining service. We drove 20 min for dinner based on their "award winning" gluten free pizza. When we got their we were surprised that they are not a restaurant and only offer takeaway. They even said we were not allowed to sit at the tables outside to eat because if we placed a to go order. For over 10 years, we have been buying food from Panino's , 5 or 6 times a month. It has be our go-to place for Pizza. However, after our encounter with the manager, Joey, we will never buy from them again. We ordered gnocchi. When it arrived, it looked like a dog's breakfast and tasted like cardboard. We called the manager and he told us we'd have to bring the product in to the store in order to get a credit. Obviously, he thought we were trying to get something for free. "That's the way it is at Target. Why should we be any different?", he asked. I told him it's because we have been a faithful customer and have spent a great deal of money over many years. That clearly didn't matter to him as he hung up. I wonder if this incident will matter to Joey when his owners experience a considerable drop in business - not just from us, but from everyone who will hear our story. read more

Great place to order pick-up or delivery from .... From Cole slaw to fried chicken to pasta to soup. you can't really go wrong. They only way to go wrong with a delivery or pick-up is to not inform them that you don't want plastic ware when you do not want nor will use plasticwear latter. read more

They were a little slow for the evening when we were there. Which was very unfortunate, the staff were very tentative and super helpful with menu suggestions. My friend is celiac and they were very accommodating for him as well. Everything we had was amazing, from the gluten free breadsticks, to the pasta and the gelato to cap off the meal. read more

Evanston has so many amazing local pizza restaurants, but Panino's might have to take the prize for my favorite. The staff is so courteous and friendly (even the driver who delivered my pizza last night was so friendly and kind, even though I was making him come out right after a snow storm). Their pizza is so darn good (we always get the sausage, sometimes with peppers and onions, but their sausage is sooo good) and ingredients are so fresh. They are completely consistent and dependable. If you are looking for pizza to please a crowd (my little kids are picky about their pizza), Panino's truly checks all the boxes. We also love their garlic knots and artisan pizzas. Can't speak for their pasta or wings because we always get pizza, but I've heard from friends that all their food is incredible. So happy to have Panino's in our neighborhood! read more

What a disappointment. Last month, we had guests who wanted thin crust pizza, so we gave Panino's a try. It was fine - nothing special, but I picked up a menu at the restaurant to see what else they had. I was excited to see that there were Neapolitan style pizzas, as well as East Coast white clam pizzas. So tonight we ordered a couple of the Neapolitan, plus the white clam, which I picked up at the restaurant. They smelled fantastic. Only when I got home did I realize that we had a clam-less white pizza, and the "sauce on the side" that was promised was missing - I had basically paid $18 for a fancy looking 12-inch cheese pizza with no sauce. On top of that, every pizza had been marked up compared to what had been on the menu that I had picked up only a month ago! I had been looking forward to good pizza all evening and ended up just feeling let down and ripped off. read more

Best thin crust pizza in entire Chicagoland area - IMHO. I used to order about once a month but sadly had to cut carbs so now I only order when I'm absolutely feigning. I had such a pizza craving last weekend but was in the south suburbs. Decided to chance it and was so disappointed. "Post Thanksgiving and the fam wanted a break from turkey, so I suggested and picked up a few pizza pies for our next family hang." (Quoted from my last pizza review because there were two spots I ordered "za" from. Here and Union squared.) Figured since I chose pizza, why not try a pie from a few places. Both businesses happen to be located on the same street but some minutes (drive) apart. On a whim I decided to try Paninos. When searching square, rectangular cut pizza, they popped up in my search. Their photos across the web looked enticing and a few reviews touched my appetite. Their square pie is known as "Grandma Pie", it's a Sicilian style that is stretched in a square and baked in an oiled pan. The za comes with mozzarella, chunky tomato sauce, garlic, oil and oregano for $17 dollars (current pricing 11-2018). Additional toppings are extra. Decided to add spinach, onions and tomato slices. It comes in one size only and has eight slices which equates to a medium square pizza. Though, cost-size-wise, larger and more quantity than Union squared. Inside the restaurant, the scene was warm and inviting. The place was freeing up and per counter staff they had just gotten a break after a long busy day. The smell of food filled the air and honestly I could have ditched the family and enjoyed a dinner for one. But, with cute kiddos waiting back at home, I knew I must go. Grabbing takeout in-person is necessary just to take in the enticing smells and sights. Two desserts drew my attention immediately. Their gelato display and these delectable looking turtle-style brownies. Are you a fan of brownies? You should try theirs.. it, is, satisfying. Found inside a glass pedestal display were these fresh, enticing brownies. I could see the fudgy texture which called out to me. Moist bottom and thick, gel like topping. Perfect for spooning up. Decided to grab one and a pint of mixed gelato. Half Cookies & cream and half chocolate brownie. Final thoughts. The turtle was greatly satisfying and went as quick as the chocolate brownie gelato. The grandma's pie was a hit despite only having vegetables. My family kept saying the freshness of it and the sauce were rich. The crust is a homestyle pan which was different from the Union squared pie. Personally, I didn't think much of the shape. Homestyle crusts are oookay. Looking at photos I kinda expected it to be more like traditional square, pan pizza. I would try it again with different toppings or try something more Chicago traditional, like thin or deep. read more

We have enjoyed Panino's in Evanston for years. A little expensive for pizzas but a fun place to go with good food. However, was disappointed with our latest experience. Service was great. Pizza (thin crust with garlic and bacon) was a little disappointing with too much cheese, too little sauce and only a little bacon. Was shocked to see the bill for a 12" pizza: nearly $29 (before tax). I checked and even Pequods would only have been a little over $25 for the same pizza. I guess we will be driving a little further for pizza in the future. read more

The service here was unbelievable for the restaurant being a fast food/cafeteria style. The only thing that a "waitress or waiter" will do is bring out your food. However, before hand they make sure you are pleased with your selection, as they are willing to alter anything for you - kinda like Burger King - "Have it your way". ... And the portions. I had enough for three meals, which explained why they're a bit on the pricey side. The presentation of the food is also well done. The bowls for the salads are "angled" large bowls - making the part that sticks up higher than the other sides like a handle. The waitress was very helpful and available and did extra; bringing out other items and answering questions. The atmosphere was nice, however, my colleague and I went after the lunch crowd and it was chilly so not too many folks were out and about. A cozy place during down hours...
