Newish to Chicago (moved here almost a year ago) My son is a crazed CTA fan and hasn't yet ridden the purple line, and when he finally got the opportunity, he wanted to ride it all the way to Linden. We get to Linden for a late dinner and thankfully this place is close to the station. It's a modest restaurant with few tables (picnic style appearance). There are some people waiting for take out and delivery runners coming in and out. Everyone is so nice. Pro tip there are a few more food options on the QR menu than the menu on display on the wall. Prices are a little off between the QR menu and ring up but it's not a big deal. We ordered paninis and they were delicious! My husband got the panini Italiano and I got the Philly chicken panini. We ate half at dinner and ate the other half the next day. The panini is a grilled sandwich more than a pressed sandwich. It was buttery , crunchy and perfect!! Even heating it up the next day didn't take away too much of the crunch. We very much enjoyed this meal and when the kid has a craving to ride the purple to linden again, we'll be back. Pricey, but so good when you decide to treat yourself. (I order delivery, which is a little extra, so I'm looking forward to trying them in person someday.) I love JP's Vodka Pizza. I'm not typically a fan of cracker-thin crust, but the way the sauce and cheese adhere to it and give it a bit of springiness is just right. But the best treat of all of is their cannoli. Immaculate and charming inside, with large rectangular checkered covered tables and benches perfect for family or casual reunions. The menu catered to a range of tastes, and designer Pizza selections were extensive. We ordered spinach salad with beets and walnuts, and the North Beach pizza. We watched our gluten free pizza dough being rolled through kitchen doorway. The cheeses were unique and exquisite. Easily the best GF pizza I've tasted. But there's more. Dishes were delivered to our table with personal care, and coffee arrived in a full pot - a dark roast freshly hand filtered. We really need to keep businesses in this district; they've been dropping like flies lately, but seeing how this place is run, I don't think they're going to last. Take a look at their Yelp rating graph: it's been going down steadily. In my experience with their customer service, I've been treated rudely and told to shop elsewhere when I had a problem. I ordered a fettuccine Alfredo from this place last week. I paid $3 for broccoli and $3 extra to add chicken to my pasta. Total of $21 for the pasta. After 45 minutes I got my pasta I'm a small container. The pasta was dry with barely any sauce. The chicken seemed like fake meat, the ones you buy from cans. But the worst part was the broccoli, I'm adding pictures of the broccoli they added to the pasta. I really believe they got the rests of broccoli in the pan and throw it on my pasta. This was a shame. The pasta didn't taste good, it actually tasted like absolutely nothing. I was very disappointed. I called to ask where was the broccoli in my pasta, because I had paid $3 for it, and the person said the cook claimed to have added it. You can judge from the pictures why I was so mad about it. We have ordered from JP's for years. It is well-run with great customer service. They once delivered 3 pizzas to us and one of the pizzas was wrong. The kids worked up quite an appetite during an afternoon at Growth Spurts* so my friends and I decided it was time for dinner...and headed down the block to JP's. . I have no doubt "JP" was thrilled to see our 6 rambunctious children, but fortunately there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant to bother at 5:30pm. We found a large table and locked the 3 pre-schoolers in thanks to a bench. Who needs high chairs? Actually we needed those for our toddlers. We ordered a large cheese pizza for all the kids and an order of buttered noodles for one of the toddlers at the table. The pizza came out relatively fast...and very hot. Once it cooled down the kids dug in and seemed very happy with their thin crust cheese pizza. I stole a few bites myself here and there. While not the best pizza I've ever had, I'd order it again. I do love myself some thin crust! My son was also a big fan of his friend's buttered noodles. He enjoyed so many that we thought about placing a second order for them. The highlight of the meal (for the kids, definitely not the adults) was the ice cream freezer they attacked for dessert. My daughter went crazy over a sponge bob popsicle with gumballs as eyes that died her lips blue for days. She's STILL talking about that popsicle a week later! Before leaving the kids enjoying playing chase around the spacious restaurant (again, I'm sure "JP" loved us). Great find on Yelp! We walked from Ryan Field after the Northwestern vs Penn State game. Just wanted a quick slice and beer. Service was fast and super friendly! The restaurant is big for a pizza place, clean place, the Staff are nice but they seem to be rushing when there taking your order, the pizza itself was like a fancy version of a school pizza (I frankly enjoyed it) the wings were alright just lacked with flavor the mozzarella sticks were decent to say the least, their ice tea was really concentrated but it was good I didn't mind. It seemed like just a Pizza grill from the outside. I was game tp try and was surprised. I had an Italian Beef Panini and a salad. The salad was very good , with beets, feta, walnuts and spring mix. We have had the Quattro formagi pizza and the special vodka pizza of the month. Both are really really good. We also tried the zucchini sticks which were also delicious. The menu has a lot more to offer, but we haven't tried much beyond pizza. The staff is so kind, accommodating, and proud of their pizza. JP's is not your average pizza joint. there is much more to look forward to while coming in here. The service is wonderful, the food is great, and the prices are excellent. One thing I can definitely say that I like about this place is getting here. It's right off the purple line Linden stop. I work in the city, so that's very convenient. The staff are very wonderful as well. Very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. They make you feel like you've been coming here for years even if it's just your first time. Went there on a Saturday afternoon with my wife to check out the "best pizza in the North Shore." We're currently big fans of Pizano's in Glenview for their thin crust - which is actually a little thicker than average thin crusts, but no where near the traditional Chicago deep dish. For NY style pizza, we really enjoy No Man's Land. We shared a Wise Guy Pizzetta - a smaller, but enough for two pizza that is apparently cooked twice to make the crust extra crispy. Fennel sausage with sweet onions and mozzarella. Crust was as thin as No Man's, but didn't flop. Sauce was excellent, crust was a little more buttery than others I've had but not overpowering like Home Run Inn's crusts. Needles to say, we devoured it. We both agreed it is now our overall favorite pizza in the area. We also tried and shared a meatball sandwich. The server was nice enough to divide it for us and served it to us in two plates. Came on fresh, crispy bread with homemade meatballs that were cooked perfectly and smothered in mozzarella cheese and their excellent marinara sauce with a salad "garnish". Excellent and would order again. Sandwich came with an option of soup or salad and I opted for their soup - Minestrone. Awesome. Big chunks of vegetables, whole beans and noodles. I'd describe it as a "chowder" style Minestrone which I love. Seems like every place makes it their own way, but their way is my favorite . I'd order a bucket of this to go in the future. Server asked us if we wanted dessert and even though we were stuffed, we said yes because so far they hit the trifecta as far as everything we ordered being excellent. He came back with three pinky sized canollis drizzled with a little chocolate. He said they were on the house. Only "miss" was that their pop machine seemed to be lacking carbonation and the pop my wife ordered was flat. No big deal. No the fanciest place, but we've gone out enough to know that we're all about the food and service - way too many experiences of fancy places where the food and/or service didn't live up to the decor. Based on what we had, our server and the over price - $27 with tax - we'll become regulars here and will support this local business. Highly recommend so far. read more

Gluten-free pizza. Hello. I work nearby. I like that this place is close. I like the gluten-free pizza. I like the restaurant's discount for local businesses. I like their salads. I like that when I dine here with others, everyone can basically find something they enjoy. The drawbacks are that sometimes food can take a while. But, maybe that's just what happens when you eat at a table where you order a salad and 3 other people order pizza. Whatever. I can usually be patient. I have heard rumors that they can also serve sandwiches on gluten-free bread, but I've never ordered this. Something to put on the to-do list, perhaps. read more

Normally I don't write bad reviews because most of the places I go to aren't bad. That being said, I have no intention of ever returning to this place again. Two stars because the interior of the place is pretty nice, and so is the staff working there; the restaurant itself is clean and tidy, and our waiter was courteous and quick. The food, on the other hand, was overpriced and not well prepared. I had the McCarthy Burger and my mom had the fish and chips. I ordered my burger medium, but it came to me burnt, and I could taste more of the grill than the meat. Fries were nothing to write home about. My mom described her fish and chips as being "too soggy, too salty, and too little". This was not a burger and fries worth paying $10 for, and the fish and chips were certainly not worth $12. We gave it a shot, and this will probably be the first and last time we eat here. My suggestion is to take your money elsewhere. read more

I'm done with ordering from here. This is the third time we have ordered from them and the third time our food has arrived cold. We were promised 30-35 min for delivery tonight and over an hour later our food arrived. They did not bring utensils or napkins--we had needed both. My husband's burger was so so and certainly not cooked the way he asked. I got a greek salad with chicken. It was mostly lettuce and kalmata olives (had more veggies the first time) and the chicken was cold and dry. Also, most places bring bread when you order a salad-they did not. Get the caprese pizza emm! I always add cilantro to the pizza it adds a nice extra flavor! The pizza is really good [i've only ever had that one pizza there LOL ]however I don't like the no public restroom sign on the door, having chronic stomach problems since I was 13 I know what it's like to need a bathroom when you need one, and don't really like to support establishments that say no public restroom but that being said this pizza is really good so I go there once in a while for that pizza. read more

My favorite pizza joint back home that deserves some recognition. Been going there since I was a kid in New Trier, they used to be in Winnetka but now in Wilmette. When I am visiting my parents back home, we go here all the time. Very friendly service, craft beers (they do have my favorite Bell's Amber) and some kick ass pizza. Their Pizettas(SP) are lovely, with the super crispy crust. I tried the new pesto Pizzetta and it was soooo good. read more

As local residents, my family and I are always hopeful that good restaurants will open and thrive in the 4th and Linden business district. When JP McCarthy's arrived, we were cautiously optimistic. Every time we drive past, there appears to be a good flow of patrons...so we decided to give a delivery order a try. We ordered a pizza and some beef barley soup....and everything was delicious! The soup was made with all fresh ingredients...even some fresh dill, which really brought out all of the flavors....the best beef barley soup I've had! The pizza had equally fresh, delicious ingredients. I was happy to see artichokes on the pizza menu, and they did not disappoint! The crust was a perfect thin crust, with a great brick-oven...almost smoky taste. Best of all, the order arrived in 35 minutes...much better than the 1-hour-plus we experience with other local pizzerias. We will definitely return, and can't wait to try more menu items! A trip to JP's Pizza is a tradition for every Northwestern game for our family now. We go before afternoon/evening games and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and unbeatable pizza. Service is always friendly and fast, and they are great at communicating specials or recommendations. The pizza is some of the best I've ever had in the Chicago area--fantastic crust and fresh toppings in great combinations. Atmosphere is very casual, but always clean and welcoming. This place is a little under-appreciated in my book. We happened upon this pizzeria and found it to be a nice little diversion from the usual pizza place. The service was amazing, the food delicious and the beer selection righteous. They even accommodated us by creating both a custom pasta dish and a custom ice cream serving that weren't on the menu for our toddler. I think the only thing this place could possibly use more of is a bit more ambiance and personality to go along with everything else that's working well. We'll definitely be back and are certain that if more people gave this place a chance, it would probably be packed. read more
