I want to preface this review is from an interaction that happened a little while ago and I've been nervous to share it. I found it written out in my notes app and felt compelled to share as I'm almost certain this person must still work there and rereading my experience still makes me feel uncomfortable:
My coworkers and I just started ordering from here for lunch. The food is really great but I had an absolutely horrible experience with whom I believe to be the owner's son.
Long story short, I did not place our order but I did offer to pick it up, when we got our food back to our workplace we noticed the salad dressing was missing and two of our pasta dishes did not come with cheese on top. Because it was multiple issues I offered to go back and ask for them.
When I got there and brought up the order and the missing components the son pulled up the order to check. Right away he got really passive aggressive and defensive. Basically telling me that we had made a mistake assuming the basic items we ordered came with cheese on them. He looked at me and spoke to me as if I was from another planet for thinking spaghetti and meatballs would have Parmesan cheese on it. He asked me over and over again- "you mean like the cheese you sprinkle on top?" Feigning confusion but clearly he was just making fun of me in front of a kitchen full of his coworkers.
They all then started to come out and aggressively talk at me about how the dishes we ordered do not come with cheese and that it is our fault we did not get what we wanted.
More than once I said something was probably over looked but I don't know for sure because I didn't place the order, apologized for the misunderstanding and just asked if I could please purchase two little to go cups of the cheese and the dressing so I can get out of their hair and return to work. Instead of acknowledging my response/request and moving forward with the transaction he continued to ask me these really passive aggressive questions like "so you are going to put mozzarella on top of the gnocchi and then what? Put it in the oven??" He asked me what I meant by Parmesan cheese at least three times.
At this point I was flustered, confused and uncomfortable and just wanted to get out of there. Someone who was behind the counter even said "just give her the cheese so she can get going and not have to come back again." I don't know if he was making fun of me too or noticed how uncomfortable this guy was making me but finally he aggressively threw like an entire pound of mozzarella cheese into a large to go container and gave me a little cup of the Parmesan- I guess he did know what I meant by "Parmesan cheese" then?
I tried insisting that I wanted to pay for these items I was happy to pay for these add ons (since he made it very clear that we did not order properly) and he responded with, "it's not about the money sweetie."
I left there finally, feeling really uncomfortable and confused about what had just happened. More than once I tried to make a joke or keep the mood light since he obviously was upset and it seemed he felt I'd accused him of some horrible mistake but he kept pushing and pushing and being very aggressive. Maybe he thought I came in hot and thought I was trying to tell him something about his menu that wasn't true but even after I said a mistake was probably made on our end he didn't let up. Above all else it was really creepy and off putting. I wouldn't want to run into this guy when he's not at work.
I don't even want to think about what their repose to this review might be. I've never had an interaction like this before and after I was finally able to get out of there I sat in my car in shock about the situation and how uncomfortable I was. My coworkers and I are all genuinely bummed because the food is really tasty, for a take out place, but I don't think we will be back. read more
