One of the best pizzas I have ever eaten! I didn't expect this in such a small community. We had the Howlly- plus pineapple. Off the hook, perfection. Crispy crust with a wee bit of chew - not too thick, not too thin - just perfect. Topped generously but not so much that the crust does not hold up. Nice!! So full of flavor. Nothing boring nor ordinary about this pizza. Friendly, prompt service. Clean establishment. I cannot find any reason to give any less than 5 stars. read more

Was camping up in Stanley this past Fourth of July weekend. And headed into town for the parade and street fair. Decided to order pizza for a large group online with a pick up time of 8 PM. When I arrive to pick up the pizza there was a line out the door and around the block for people waiting to order. They were running about 10 minutes behind, which was to be expected with the amount of people ordering. They let me know I could wait outside in the picnic area and the staff was so kind and brought all six of our pizzas plus plates and napkins out to us. Even though this was a to go order. We received the same service we would have if we dined inside. The pizza was hands-down delicious. It was lovely to enjoy outside with live music during the street dance. 6 pizza's fed 16 people and we even took a whole pizza back to camp for lunch the next day. The price was more than fair. $163 including a tip. We will definitely hit this place up when we're in town again. Pizza just hits different in the mountains. read more

Stanley, Idaho is one of my all-time favorite places to visit. I lived there at one point. The Sawtooth Mountains can be seen from the restaurant. The rustic atmosphere fits perfectly with this small mountain town. You order up at the register and food is brought to your table. I've had pizza and calzones. Both are delicious, but I think I had the best calzone of my life this summer at Papa Brunee's. You can customize! I did a cheese, ricotta and pesto calzone. It was SO good! After an 8 mile strenuous hike, this pizza brought me life. We've been eating food we cooked in our RV for a while now, but it just wasn't going to cut it after today's hike. Covid-19: you can order and pay over the phone. You have to go inside to sign the receipt. I didn't see anyone wearing masks inside. Our pizza wasn't quite ready and they brought it out to the car for us after I signed the receipt. We got 3 medium pizzas: Blue Apple, Pepp-E-Due, and Notorious P.I.G. We also got some firesticks. This was for 3 people and it was entirely too much food. I guess hiking all day will make you overestimate. We finished all of the firesticks and half of the pizza. Who doesn't love leftover cold pizza though? I loved both the Blue Apple and the Pepp-E-Due. They both had unique toppings and were delicious. The Notorious P.I.G was good, but it was pretty much just a meat lovers pizza, so nothing too exciting. I loved their crust. We got regular and it had a good crunch to it on the outside and a good flavor. The firesticks were good. They were like an upgraded cheesey bread. They had a little kick but weren't that spicy. I loved the cream cheese addition. This is definitely the best pizza I've had in such a small town and way better than I would expect to find. Check it out! read more

Considering Stanley has a population of 63 people, one would not expect it to have a great pizza restaurant but believe me when I tell you--they do! Papa Brunee's is great pizza. If you're hiking around the Stanley area, you should absolutely try it after a long trek. My wife and I shared several of their pizzas after hiking 10 miles to Goat Lake while fasting the entire day. Let's keep it real folks - in the middle of almost nowhere you are not getting gourmet anything. But for what this place is - it's five stars. Large facility - clean. Service was friendly and prompt. Order at the counter and they bring out your food. We way over-ordered and they happily gave us a box for leftovers. Meatball appetizer was good, the bread was clearly slice and bake but the meatballs themselves looked and tasted homemade (basic red sauce). Very decent portion size. Pizza - ordered a Margherita and asked to substitute olive oil for the red sauce. It was very fresh and delicious. We ate the leftover slices cold the next day and had no complaints. read more

Stopped by for lunch mid-week in late September. A small, but steady influx of hungry customers made their way into Papa Brunee's. Order at the counter. Bottled drinks are in the cooler, or you can have a fountain drink. Dippin Dots are in the freezer. We had a large pepperoni and cheese pizza and a personal size Sawtooth Special. We dined here after a long day of hiking after reading numerous reviews of how good the pizza was, many citing "the best in Idaho". Unfortunately this was not our experience. The service was friendly and the toppings were generous; however, the crust was extremely disappointing and resembled frozen pizza. Ahh I love this place! I was super hungry after a long trek in the mountains and needed some food that was not only feeling but that could satisfy my tastebuds. The night prior I had been to the Mountain Village Restaurant across to the street and had the saddest nachos...anyway, moving on... After staring at the menu for a fat 20 minute I finally decided to order the taco pizza. My decision was largely based on how many topping were on the pizza. I only waited about 15 minutes before I was carrying my soon to be delicious dinner to the cabin I was stayed at. The pizza was so darn good I ate half of it the first night. The toppings were so fresh and there was so much! I did have to use a fork half the time only because the toppings kept falling off it was piled on so much. Alternating bites dipped in sour cream, salsa and both enhanced the taste. I enjoyed every single bite I had. It also made an excellent dinner the second night. It almost tasted better reheated. If you do that I would recommend taking the cold toppings off and adding them back on after you've reheated your slice, unless you like hot lettuce. We wanted to find a good dinner spot for after Redfish and the night before hiking Sawtooth Lake. I went in with my wife and 2 kids. We sat outside on the beautiful patio area. I was impressed with the options available on the menu. They were accommodating in doing some half/half options so we could try out different flavors. They even made a mistake and without saying anything simply made it right by bringing us an extra pizza with no charge. The pizza was very high quality from the dough to the toppings. It is based in one the iconic Wild West looking buildings in Stanley and gives one of those local joint kinds of feelings to your eating establishment. We're fans of Papa Brunee's. It's a simple and unassuming place, very clean and they are taking good care of customers and staff during COVID. The food quality is very high, the salads, sandwiches and pizzas were excellent and prices are very reasonable. We had a caesar salad and it was crisp and delicious, the dressing was just right, with a hint of anchovy goodness. The meatball sandwich is something I would definitely order again, the meatballs and red sauce were scratch made and outstanding. Pizzas are what they are famous for and justifiably so. We had the Pepp-e-due which was something unique. It has the savoriness of pepperoni, the sweetness of sweet red peppers and just a hint of *honey*, which was a surprising and delicious twist. I went here and got the Weekly pizza of the week special. The pizza was really good. And our server was great. But... The pizza was hot when it came out of the oven . Aand it burned the roof of my mouth a little when I eat it right away. The pizza was "the dirty Hawaiian". A Hawaiian pizza with Prosciutto and drizzled hot honey added. It was delicious although I thought the name was a little inappropriate and it made my hands sticky from the delicious hot hunny. I asked for the manager to complain about my burned mouth and my sticky fingers. A guy name "Josh" came out of the back and said he didn't know what to say. I asked for a free beer to stop the burn and to wash off my hands and he refused . I'll definitely come back and just hope " Josh" isn't working. We will come back to Stanley just to taste this world class sour dough again. It's worth the 6 hour drive from salt lake. Papa Brunee's has mind boggling good hand made dough and sweet, delectable tomato sauce. Their pizzas are made with incredibly fresh, delicious ingredients applied generously and liberally. Their pizzas are creative, one of a kind. The DOUGH the DOUGH the DOUGH. It's a worth a trip. It's soooo good. For whatever reason, Stanley, Idaho is a microcosm of culinary excellence. End of this establishment plays a big role in that. This is some of the best pizza we've ever had and we are from the north east of the US, we have the likes of Haven pizza at our fingertips. This pizza was actually as good as any pizza we've had a New Haven. It had everything going for it - crispy, doughy, light, right amount of sauce and cheese, novelty. Even their caeser was excellent. They had a waitress from Romania who was absolutely busting her ass and I know they are trying to hire. She did an incredible job keeping the house, satisfied, and fed. The service was incredible considering that there was really only one food runner, and a single waitress and cashier. We will be thinking about it for a long time.. it was that good. Also, the owner is clearly a hockey bro and appreciates professional hockey. We are Big hockey fans and enjoyed the playful sportsbar like atmosphere. read more

Got a to go chicken wrap which was decent. This place is only open about 3 months a year in the summer and during some spring/fall weeks they are only open 3 days a week on the weekend.
