We got lucky finding this gem! Great service and family atmosphere ~ UGA decor didn't hurt either! The flavor on the meats was phenomenal. We tried St. Louis ribs, brisket, and pulled pork and unlike some bbq, the meat was the star of the show! Sauce was great, but really didn't need it ~ the meat was that good! Papa Bucks ribs are very good. Potato salad and baked beans are great as well. You will leave satisfied or take out like I do and eat at home. The Rib Pack is a good deal and you get a whole rack and two Pint sized sides for $25.00 bucks or just a rack of Ribs is $19.00. There aren't many stops between Atlanta and Savannah once it's an hour outside of Atlanta. We were going to stop by one of the chains to fuel our belly but saw this local BBQ joint. So glad stopped here. Had sliced Texas brisket platter. The meat is tender and tasty, even tastier with the secret sauce on the table, which gives a tangy kick. The restaurant is decorated with some interesting photos and the best three reasons to support local business on the blackboard. The sweet young lady even offered to put water in cups for the road. True southern hospitality. Worth a stop! read more

The pulled pork was delicious. Got it on the way from Savannah to Atlanta. Would recommend pulled pork! I got the sandwich and my husband got it as a part of his combo. Absolutely without a doubt you Must stop and eat here. I was driving from Savannah to Atlanta. I had the sample platter. four meat combo brisket, chicken, pulled pork , and ribs St Louis style. brisket was tender crust was perfect best I've ever had. the BBQ SAUCE is vinegar based very good. the baked beans were very sweet like I like them. the ribs chicken we're very good mac and cheese was very good; they used shells as the pasta. but the star of the show was the brisket without a doubt. the price was very good for what I got $16 for the 4 meat combo with 2 sides. Cute place, sweet people, ok food, good price. Had the pulled pork plate (comes with2 sides). The fried corn was quite tasty, though overly salted. The Cole slaw was mercifully not mayonnaise-y, but under-seasoned (and FYI no hint of vinegar). Mac and cheese was ok, fried okra was a winner. Last, and alas, the pulled pork was quite fatty. Picked through it and left with a fair amount of 'meat' on the plate. Hopefully this was just a bad batch, and not representative. Maybe the brisket is better? read more

After going through Brunswick Georgia started to crave Brunswick stew. Found this place on a fluke, but so glad we did! The stew was great as was everything else we tried; ribs, brisket, baked beans, Mac'n' cheese, corn salad and a giant glass of sweet tea. Service was great, Michelle was very helpfully in figuring out what we should order. All the staff was very friendly. If we ever find ourselves on that stretch of I16 again we will definitely be stopping there! read more

We visited Papa Buck's yesterday and boy did we enjoy it! Somewhat new to the area we have been let down on visit's to new place's to check out. Best barbecue I've ever had! I first tried it at my sister in laws wedding. Ever since then I've been hooked. My parents had them cater my brothers rehearsal dinner. Hands down the best brisket I've had outside of Texas. The pork stacks up to anyone. The sauce looked thin, but ended up being really good. I had the Mac & Cheese and potato salad as sides, which were both great. The M&C was made with large shell pasta, which was different, and the potato salad has a zip to it I couldn't place, but was unique and really delicious. The staff was really cool, too and I enjoyed chatting with them to break up my solo road-trip. Everything was priced well and they had some daily specials that seemed like good deals. I'm really glad i stumbled on Papa Buck's (close to HWY 16) and will go out of my way in the future to visit when in Georgia. read more

I live in the area around papa buck's and eat here often every time I've went it was delicious. But I always order something called the Scooby Snack. It is a basket if French fries with Boston butt, real bacon bits, cheddar cheese, delicious BBQ sauce, and your choice of sour cream and or jalapeños. I order it with sour cream but no Jalapeños and every time it is delicious. But one of the best parts to me is their BBQ sauce, it's the best BBQ sauce I've ever tasted! read more
