Glad we stopped in here for lunch today. Quality food that tasted great to all of us. We started out with a scoobie snack after our waitress recommended it. It was a french fry pulled pork yumminess. Not greasy and full of taste. I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of Mac n cheese. Others ordered the brisket plate, half a chicken plate, coleslaw, green beans, kids chicken fingers, hamburger.. we ate as much of it as we could! Really nice people working there. Got a brisket and rib combo with potato salad, fried corn and a slice of chocolate cake. Ribs were completely untrimmed, not even trimming the flap on the back. This does give you more meat, but it didn't help the cooking, as the thickness of the ribs vary greatly from one end of the rib to the other. Some of each rib (you get two in a combo) was pretty good with large sections that were not cooked enough and tough. Flavor was fine. Brisket was overcooked and a little dry, but ok flavor. Potato salad was heavy on the sour cream, but not bad. Tasted more like a baked potato made with a waxy potato than potato salad. Didn't care for the fried corn. Cake was delicious and reminded me of the kind you get at grandmas' houses and little meat and three places across the south. Pet peeve: please don't put so much ice in the cup that I can't get my straw to the bottom of the cup. Ok BBQ, but not so good that I'll not try their competitor across the street the next time I'm in town. I had stopped going for BBQ could not find a good place in Georgia I had missed Texas BBQ. Then today I thought I would try this place it was so good I ate 2 sandwiches turkey and brisket the meat was so juicy not dry like most other places that zap all in the microwave oven. We stopped here after driving for a long time and it really hit the stop. I'm happy we came across it. The food came out extremely fast even though the place was pretty full with guests. This is one of my favorite restaurants in metter. When I go there they are very polite and welcoming. They bring out your food fast considering how many people go there. I love there Scooby Snack! I get mine with bacon and extra sour cream on the inside. I have never had a meal that I have hated/ disliked. This is by far the best barbecue place in metter. read more

Was introduced to this restaurant while on a recruiting trip to Georgia Southern with my daughter. It's located about 20 minutes outside of Satesboro. Owned by a GSU grad, you seat yourself in the medium sized restaurant. It's not fancy on the outside or inside, but the food itself is amazing. Can't go wrong with the brisket, mac n cheese, or fried corn on the cob. They don't serve alcohol, but will give you the huge plastic cup of your favorite Coke products, water, or lemonade. If your headed to Statesboro, it's a must stop. The service is amazingly friendly, and you'll see the owner bringing food out to tables when it's slammed. read more

Got Brunswick stew and a half chicken to go along with some cake The Brunswick stew was quite good, certainly the best I've had south of Atlanta. Nice texture, good hint of spiciness and with chunks of potato and whole kernels of corn, I liked it a lot. Slightly sweet for my taste, but not at all out of line, I'd stop here for a cup anytime. The chicken, on the other hand, was a disappointment. It looked great, nice color with a little crispy skin, I was pretty excited until I tucked into it. Not seasoned enough, it was overcooked and dry, even in the thigh and leg. Really disappointed. Had I been eating in, I definitely would have asked to replace it. The place had a nice crowd, so I'm assuming this is not the norm, but I can only comment on what I got and it wasn't up to snuff Cake was simple, multiple thin layers with icing between each one. Very, very rich, it reminded me of the homemade cakes of my youth. Great memories, but really needs milk to wash it down. It was so rich that I couldn't finish the piece (my kid appreciated it) Well worth a return to confirm that the quality of that chicken was probably not what they normally serve. read more

My wife and I love the food here. We probably eat here once to twice a month. We are fans of the Scooby Snacks. The portions and prices are more than fair and the service rocks. The place is very clean but the seating is a little tighter than I like. Got an order of eggs over medium and toast and eggs scrambled with cheese and toast. Finally brought out the scrambled eggs after an hour, but they didn't have cheese.
