When questioned, the server indicated it was because we paid via credit card, not cash. This was an irritant because there was no prior mention of this additional charge either from the server or the menu. If it's stated on the menu it apparently wasn't in a prominent place. What I don't get is the fact that I can order something a bit more pricey with the card. When I'm made aware of this I order accordingly; that means a lower priced item. That in turn translates into less profit for the establishment. Card users have a tendency to order more items or more expensive items. That gets lost when it becomes card vs cash.
