So excited to see they've moved to Silver Spruce! I'll definitely be stopping by more often now…read morethat I know I can grab a bite. We got slices of the mushroom pizza (mushy madness) and a sweet caramelized onion+sausage pizza (Jaime's Bianca). Both were fantastic, came up quickly and made us consider ordering more.

This New York style pizzeria is located inside Silver Spruce Brewing, which is a fun,…read moreindoor-outdoor venue. Frontage on Eighth Street, but it feels like a neighborhood joint once you are in there. I apologize to Two Sons Pizza, for not writing a five star review, when the pizza was five stars. I mean, we've got The Filling Station for the real thin but still chewy crust. Excellent. Charles and Reid for Detroit style, which is life altering delicious (and I generally hate thick pizza). And Two Sons completed the power triangle with big New York style slices and pies. But what the F happened? They've always had a little bit of that dismissive hipster kind of vibe, where they try to make you feel like you're not important, or possibly not cool enough to enjoy how amazing their pizza is, or was. But now it's like the one or two employees who are there at a time, don't want to be there at all. And that's what the pizza tastes like now The slices used to be massive, like cutting an extra large pizza into six slices. They were priced accordingly, $7-8+, but well worth it. Delicious. Now the pies are old sitting around for hours, and they don't perk up when reheated like they used to. I don't have a problem with proper New York style slices, being reheated, that's part of the tradition. But the attitude I get is, if they aren't slammed busy, they don't care about having fresh food, and you just get what you get. It seems the employees don't care, they are like robots now, and unhappy robots at that. They've got the NY magic and the special sauce, they just aren't using it anymore. Maybe the chef quit, maybe it got sold, I have no idea. The last slice I had, I threw it in the garbage, and went to Toby's dog house, the hot dog trailer outside. But it was closed on a day it was supposed to be open. The guy behind the bar at Silver Spruce brewing has the same dismissive/dumb attitude. I wouldn't be surprised if all three places closed after summer 2026 ** since they are capable of making a good New York style pie, at least in theory now, just order a whole pizza. That way, it will be fresh. The slice game is dead there. **

It was a mixed crowd, with lots of families and young children. I had the Northwoods Blueberry Açaí mineral water while I waited and it was SO GOOD. Once we were seated and placed our order at the bar, the food came out fairly quickly. We had the hummus appetizer, the Rocket and the Three Rivers. I loved the Rocket - I love any pizza with goat cheese! This was a great spot to kick off our vacation with the fam after a long day of travel!

When we got there, the hostess warned us that the pizzas were taking up to an hour to make. I appreciate that they warned us before we committed to dining there! We didn't mind the wait. There are no waiters, so you order everything at the bar then they bring your food to you with a table number. I ordered the raspberry beer and it was really good. I typically don't like beer, but I love fruit flavors. As an appetizer, we got the red pepper hummus and it was meh--I didn't really like it. It was thick and had the texture of cold refried beans and instead of pita, it was served with tortilla chips that tasted like Tostitos brand. For my flatbread pizza, I chose the Wolverine which was topped with pineapple, pepperoni, jalapeños. I've never had pineapple on pizza so I can't really be a good judge, but it was alright. I liked how thin the crust was. For dessert, we got the mini ice cream bars as recommended by the woman sitting near us. They're Ice Box Brand Ice Cream Bars by a Michigan-based company. They sell two sizes: regular and mini. I chose a mini toffee crunch and it was the perfect size. It was really good. I'd love to just buy these ice cream bars to have at home!!

We were told as we ordered that they only serve breakfast on Sundays. They took our beverage order quickly and brought the coffee and water equally as quickly. We ordered the Hungry Mans Breakfast (3 eggs, bacon sausage, hash browns and toast) and House Made Hash & Eggs (2 eggs, corned beef has and toast) (same as the past 2 years) - you just don't mess with perfection. We ordered eggs overeasy. They brought us a treat of a small cup of homemade strawberry jam for our thick cut fresh sourdough toast - this was a new addition this year (the jam) and we enjoyed it. Nothing is particularly greasy but everything is cooked to perfection. This is one of those places that just makes the quintessential breakfast (or breakfast for lunch). You will leave feel satisfied and happy. July 2023 Amazing find! Last year we stopped to get brunch as we were starving and there aren't many choices along this stretch of road. We would come here on a regular basis if we could. There are a lot of locals but they are equally as nice to out of towners. So this year on our drive, we remembered their food and made a point to stop for a late breakfast. In particular, we recalled their delicious corn beef hash and ordered it again! We ordered the Hungry Mans Breakfast (3 eggs, bacon sausage, hash browns and toast) and House Made Hash & Eggs (2 eggs, corned beef has and toast) (same as last year). We ordered eggs overeasy. The staff is attentive and ensure your coffee and water cups are full without asking. This is one of those places that just makes the perfect breakfast (or breakfast for lunch). They are fully committed to the woodsy, outdoor, rustic vibe while still feeling upscale. Our server was excellent and brought refills consistently and without being asked. We ordered fried mushrooms and spinach and artichoke dip for apps. The fried mushrooms and ranch were AMAZING and also pretty massive. The dip was verryyy cheese forward and was a little goopey, not my fav. The flavor was good, but I wanted it to be creamier and more balanced. It was the only thing we got that wasn't a hit, but not enough to change this from 5-stars! I ordered the Prime Rib with veg and a baked potato. IT WAS AMAZING.
