Decent pizza with great views. Came on a Monday as a visitor to town, but it was very crowded. Out myself on the waitlist and walked across to the beach. About 30 minutes later I was texted and came to be seated. Got a great view from the roof and ordered the Gronk pizza which was basically a meat lovers pizza. They explained the kitchen was backed up and it took a long time to get food, about 45 minutes. When it finally came it was pretty good with lots of tasty toppings. The staff was the best part of the experience. They were all very friendly from ordering, to giving us plates to providing take out containers. The interior needs work. Pictures on the wall are nice but some of them have been vandalized. There was a piece of drywall or something leaning against the wall as well. Pizza was meh. Was greeted at the front by a young lady, who took our orders and we seated ourselves. The place is very nostalgic! Old school arcade games and the walls dressed with photos of past customers, and seems the customers get to etch phrases and their names with date meanings as well. Went to Paesano's on a recommendation from a friend. Order at the counter and seat your self. Only soda pop and iced tea to drink. Ordered a classic round with pepperoni and mushroom and small antipasta salad. It was just okay. Salad was fine, black olives tasted like the can they came out of, pizza had very little flavor. Fiancé actually had to salt the pizza to add flavor. Sorry to say was expecting better flavor. Maybe the Chicago style or the deep dish have better flavor. read more

We were staying in TC for our anniversary and wanted an easy, comforting, and yummy dinner that we could enjoy after an afternoon & evening out on the town and settled on Paesano's. We ordered the 14" pizza bianca with no olives and extra artichokes. The crust was delicious, and the artichokes were fabulous, however we were not the biggest fans of the cheese combination. The asiago and fontinella were overpowering and took away from the balance of flavors. Maybe that's what some customers are seeking out, but it just didn't meet our expectations for a pizza bianca. Love this cozy cute pizza place! The dining area is covered with pictures of families who have dined at Paesano's before you--and it has all sorts of kitschy, italiana vibes. Note: if you are dining in on a hot summer day, I don't think there is air conditioning. They also have a small outdoor eating space if you'd like to enjoy your amazing pizza outside. I was also impressed with the customer service and our made to order pizza. We opted for the pan pizza and loved the house-made dough. We ordered a standard crust pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and garlic. The crust was on the doughy side. The sauce on the pizza was too thick and too sweet for my taste. There was no appreciable garlic on the pizza. They advertise chopped garlic as a topping, but I doubt they even put garlic powder on this pizza. Overall not a good pizza. As it turns out, eating at Trattoria Stella Friday evening was not our last restaurant meal of the trip. We ended up missing the free breakfast at our hotel by oversleeping the following morning, so we decided to grab a pizza at Paesno's at noon before we left town. Because one of us is madly allergic to tomatoes, we ordered the restaurant's Pizza Bianco, described as a "white pizza with a Mediterranean flair." The restaurant states it is "our perfect crust brushed with extra virgin olive oil, chopped garlic and Provencal herbs. Topped with a creamy blend of mozzarella, Asiago and Fontinella cheeses." We asked them to add chicken to it. Some pizza restaurants look at us with a puzzlement when we ask them about pizzas like these, so we were pleased Paesano's had one they could make for us. And it was good. Service is good, the atmosphere is good, not having a liquor license and serving pizza is not so good. But I suppose next time we'll order it as take out and eat it with a good red wine back at our hotel. read more

Talk about an old school gem of Traverse. The city is changing so much and this place remains. The owners couldn't be more gracious and kind. The food is A+. What a wonderful little pizzeria on the Boardman River... you can sit out back on the deck with a riverside view. The interior is incredibly charming... not trying to be a pretentious thing that it's not. It's like what mama used to make. Trying to do a trip up north on the cheap led us to try and do something fairly low key for dinner in Traverse City. Paesano's was the perfect place! A very standard looking pizzeria with delicious smells can rarely steer someone wrong but I checked the yelp reviews just to be safe. Unsurprisingly they were positive so we decided to give it a shot. So glad we did! Great traditional pizzeria with excellent flavor and prices. We just got the standard pepperoni with mushrooms and garlic but they had a decent menu of toppings to choose from if you're more adventurous/creative than us. The wait was fairly long but when the pizza arrived it was totally worth it. It completely hit the spot! Perfect balance of sauce, toppings, and cheese. Crust was good but not too doughy. It made me really happy! My only regret was not going up a size on the pizza since the slices themselves were fairly small. I definitely could have eaten more! A tip that I read on here and would have missed otherwise: there's seating in the back outside deck! It's small but it's a nice view of the river and the ducks will appreciate any spare crust nuggets that may go overboard. read more

I usually do not even go for bread sticks, I am always rooting to order the stuffed cheese bread, or any cheesy bread type combo when we order pizza. These bread sticks don't even need cheese, they are just that good. First, Paesano's gives you loads of breadsticks, this order is very generous, yet I still don't want to share!! We were in town on vacation, and decided to stop here for dinner as the Film Festival had downtown completely overwhelmed with people. We ordered a pizza and a sub, and a few sodas. The wait was not long, but long enough to drink through the sodas while we were waiting. In this day and age refills are pretty standard but not here, you have to pay 25 cents per glass for a refill! Who does that? Food okay, but nothing that really stands out. What I remember most is paying for my refills - not a memory a business owner should want for its customers! read more

We had a pretty frustrating experience here. After looking this place up on Yelp and then confirming on their website that they're open till 9:30 we drove 20 minutes from our hotel to try their pizza. Unfortunately, when we got there two of the staff members decided to close the place before 8:45 p.m. when we tried to go inside. I yelled through the window and asked the lady what was going on as their website said they'd still be open for 45 minutes. She smiled and said sorry and walked into the back. 10 years ago I came to Traverse City with a friend of mine to enjoy a weekend of camping and we came into the city for a bite to eat and this pizza place was the place we went to and even after 10 years it's still as good as I remember. I was happy to know the place was still open when coming to visit a few weeks ago and I was a little disappointed that they didn't have any seating but because of the whole coronavirus going on right now unfortunately they didn't have any seating it was only carry out. But I was still pleased because by the time I got back to my hotel which was about five minutes away from the restaurant the pizza in my breadsticks were still nice and hot and I was very pleased about that. The owner is definitely one of the nicest people you'll ever meet always full of smiles and really knows how to sell his products. To me it's probably one of the best pizza places here in Michigan and I'm very happy I got to have it again when I went up there and they were still in business. This is always one of those places I recommend to friends when they're going up to Traverse City to try out and they are never disappointed when they do.
