Very strange experience here. Came for a fishing tournament and was excited to get food and drinks with friends as it looked like a happening place, however, I was bombarded by two waitresses at the same time talking to me and I tried to order a sweet tea and they only have en sweetened tea. Is this even Texas? So then I was going to do unsweetened tea and just get Splenda with it and all they offer is sweet n low lol. So I ordered a Coke zero and water instead. They were very aggressive about requiring me to present a credit card to start a tab and all I ordered was a water and Coke zero and asked for a food menu. They didn't bring a food menu out and I had to ask for it. The whole thing was weird and I decided to leave and go eat somewhere else. Absolutely do not recommend and if any management reads this you guys need to have a different process in place and there's no reason you should have two servers coming to the table at the exact same time talking to the guest and causing a ruckus like they did. read more

The food is ok!!! The service I'd give a 2 out of 10. The view is cool but really it's just a lake. The owner just gives a bad taste to the establishment. He is such a womanizer as well. Absolutely does not respect woman at all. The staff is doing their job and he is so negative to them. BTW the owner hates people with service animals. This is the second time I've came here and I just don't like the way he is at all. The establishment could be so much nicer if the owner had more respect to people. My family has been coming here for over 20 years. We've watched ownership change and have continued supporting this business despite its recent decline because we genuinely wanted it to succeed. Our experience this week was the first time I've ever felt compelled to leave a review. After about five hours by the pool, six adults had shared four buckets of beer, along with multiple rounds of appetizers and food. When our server decided to stop serving alcohol, that wasn't the problem. If she truly believed we had been overserved, we would have happily paid our bill and called an Uber. Safety should always come first. The issue was that she told us my father was slurring his speech. My father is a stroke survivor and has a permanent speech impairment. We explained this immediately. From that point on, no one seemed interested in listening. The conversation became about defending the decision instead of acknowledging the impact of mistaking a disability for intoxication. When we asked to speak with a manager, no one even came to our table. We eventually had to get up and approach the manager ourselves. The apology we finally received felt like an obligation rather than genuine concern. What should have been one of the few full days I got to spend with my dad during his visit ended on a painful note. Not because we were denied another drink, but because no one showed the empathy or professionalism to simply say, "We're sorry this happened." After more than two decades of loyalty, I left feeling that our business no longer mattered and that my father's dignity mattered even less. This place is so inviting on the outside and the location is amazing! However, as soon as you approach the front door, you're met with dozens of "No" signs. I get rules...we're rule followers...but really? My 2- 20 year olds and their boyfriends were standing rigid as if they had just been disciplined because they weren't 21 and couldn't get a table without me being there (I was on my way after parking). The child at the door told me I couldn't be on the premises and suggested to leave my 8 week old puppy in the car at 103 degrees.... Go for the beer and the view. The pizza...not so much. The patio is fantastic. On a hot day, your legs will stick to the chairs but in the evening, you couldn't beat the view of the lake. The house chips were good and the beer was cold. The chips had a nice seasoning. I'm writing to complain about the service I received yesterday when I arrived there yesterday at 1:45pm. The place was pretty empty. I would say maybe 6 customers, so you were in need of business. I had my service dog with me and the manager (a rude woman with red hair) told me I had to leave because no pets allowed. The waitress (who probably really wanted to make some money) told me to inform her my dog is a service dog. I told her and informed her I have a card I can show her. She said to me "ADA ANIMALS DON'T HAVE CARDS SO I KNOW YOUR DOG IS JUST A PET." That is blatant discrimination but I left without showing her the card because I no longer wanted to give them my business. We went next door to Conroe Lake House, it was very busy and we have a fabulous day. read more

They take your credit card upfront and charged our credit card for drinks we never received, we were being intimidated by over served drunk people at a table, told our server rather than get in an altercation we would just leave. I never ended up getting the steak even after I paid for it and closed my tab. My servers name was Caitlynn, avoid this server if you'd like your food to arrive. We flagged down another sever , and asked if she could help us. No help. For a lakeside open air bar, you would've thought they'd advertise themselves to be classier but to be frank, they weren't. For one thing, the service was less than desirable. The food wasn't that great either. The pool was a sorry excuse of a pool, the volleyball "court" was a soggy grassy mess, and frankly, not the best option for a first timer at Lake Conroe. Let's start with the service. I don't know if the staff was short that day or what but we had very poorly trained servers or something. The lack of checking on patrons was inexcusable. What's even worse, ordering food from there is like pulling teeth. You can't find your server, they rarely show themselves, they don't pay attention to their sections, and their ability to pull the bare minimum of even getting me a water was a shocker to me. It's water and you couldn't even get that going! Many of the people I was with ordered food and it took nearly 30-40 minutes just to get their food. Granted, it's a bar but when you serve food, get the food out to your customers! The chicken sandwich I got was pretty basic. Grilled chicken (dry as can be), romaine lettuce, tomatoes, and fries with condiment packets. The kitchen definitely slapped this together in such lazy fashion. Another thing to note is that it's a lakeside venue so one would think to be able to bring your own cooler. NOPE. No outside booze allowed. On the boat which you can rent from an outside vendor, they'll allow you, but one you set foot into the place, all outside alki must remain outside. Not even a can of Truly which is the most benign of all drinks. Sure it's their policy but it's pretty stringent for an open air bar. The overall experience of this place was subpar at best and definitely recommend other options around Lake Conroe. read more

I gave this bar a stellar review in the past but that was years ago. Apparently it has changed quite a bit. I took my little Yorkie to Lake Conroe to go swimming in the lake. As I was visiting different spots to find a good one to swim, I stopped into this place where I have had a lot of fond memories. MI pulled into a parking spot, my Yorkie, jumped into her purse and we headed for the entrance. As we were approaching a man came towards us with a Papas On The Lake t-shirt on with his hand out in front of him waving it (as in stop) and shaking his head. He said I could not bring her inside. This was exceptional to me because she has been, not only welcomed, but celebrated, in most establishments, including bars and restaurants, and my place of work which is an office setting. I thought he came across rather pointed, but I politely asked what the issue was. He said he had personally witnessed people bringing into an establishment a "service dog," and then ultimately letting the dog eat off their plate. I expressed that this was never an acceptable behavior but to no avail. I stated that she always sat on her purse in the barstool next to me and chilled, but I was abruptly shut down without even a consideration. I was disappointed because I knew that she would be well-received by all the other patrons, as she always is. But I guess this is not an establishment that I will ever visit again. And not just because my dog was not allowed in with me because we have been turned away before, al biet rare, but because he was so rude about it. That was not necessary. read more

This establishment has a reputation over the past several months of being rude and disrespectful to the elderly. I also had them be very disrespectful to my daughter, who is coming off the lake to leave to their parking lot with a very small little dog. He did not even make a single sound. He was there, because they do not allow dog friendly space, but ONLY walking through. We were just going to our car. The manager physically put his hands on my seventh month pregnant daughter, and was confrontational with her. Who are these people??!!! This is not an exaggeration. All we wanted to do was leave their establishment. The management and owner is extremely rude. GREAT views! Excellent broad selection of food and decent prices. We brought our baby with us and toddler. My toddler carried an empty water bottle with him into the place and the bartender gave us a really hard time about that. They do have a sign that says no outside food or drink but it was empty and my kid was just playing with it. Found it to be not the friendliest about that. The only other issue was our service initially. I think they must have been short staffed because we didn't get greeted for almost 20-30 minutes and it was not that busy. I will have to say after our server did come she was super nice! I would come again! Burger wasn't the best in my opinion, patty was pretty dry.
