We randomly found this place on Yelp when we were in the area. The business is located in a shopping plaza with other businesses. After we decided what we wanted and paid I checked in and found out there was a 10% off coupon on Yelp. After showing the cashier he took the 10% off of our our order. We sat in a booth while we waited for our food. Our food was done in a timely manner. We drove a short distance to our destination and the pizza was still warm. The supreme pizza was good but some of the vegetables pieces were really big. The slices of pizza were a nice size as well and were filling. read more

I used to like the wings here. But... This neighborhood restaurant a couple minutes away is not on our regular rotation, but it was National Breadstick Day, and it was the closest place that came up on Yelp for breadsticks, and we weren't feeling like Olive Garden. We should have gone to Olive Garden because their breadsticks are on point, while the breadsticks here were NOT breadsticks! The Pesto Cheese Breadsticks were just flattened out pizza dough sliced into thin columns and flavored with garlic and pesto. We ended up throwing out most of the leftover "breadsticks" because they just weren't very good. We also ordered bonein chicken wings, Meat Lasagna and some other pasta with meat sauce. The 2 entrees each came with a small garden salad. The salads were fine, but the rest of the foot was just mediocre. You probably won't love the food, but you won't hate it either. Prices are slightly high, but not out of line. I think our total was about $70. Soda is only available in 2-liter bottles so we ended up not eating our meal there since we each wanted a different soda flavor and didn't want to buy that much soda. I don't think I've ever tried the pizza here. A friend says it's good and orders from here all the time. Based on my dining experience, I'm not inclined to try it. We're pretty picky about pizza. The ambience is very casual, and you order and pay at the counter. read more

We are locals and have been ordering from here for at least 8 years. We support small businesses and loved this place, but the last 3-4 pizzas we've ordered here have been dramatically different and look nothing like the pictures I see in other reviews. The crust is flat, tasteless and doesn't taste fresh anymore. The sauce is scant and there is are hardly any cheese or toppings at all. I don't know if they switched owners or what, but it is no longer a place I will go to or recommend to friends. What a shame. It used to be so good back in the day. Not anymore. read more

We came in on a Saturday afternoon and placed a pick-up order of a medium pepperoni pizza and an order of jalapeño poppers. There was only one customer ahead of us who was waiting for a fairly large order (like 3 pizzas and some sides). After placing the order with the guy up front (who was super friendly), he said - give me like 10 - 15 minutes. As promised, a piping hot pizza that I saw him take from the oven was ready in a little over 10 minutes, with which the jalepeño poppers came to a total of ~$17 pre-tip. I had forgotten to get a 2L bottle of soda which he rang up after at like $3. The jalepeño poppers were SO GOOD (served with a side of ranch) and the pizza was cheesy and hot. How annoying is it arriving somewhere and realizing it's closed. We arrived at 9:15pm. The sign clearly says it's open and Google and yelp say it's open till ten, but we arrived and the doors were locked. If you look close there was a guy there in the front making boxes. And instead of just confirming with us that it's closed he just completely ignored us when we were at the door. So my review is based off the service. We didn't even get to try the food . read more

I enjoy family owned businesses for they work so hard and I'd prefer to give our money to them vs Pizza Hut and others. I never order anything other than a supreme with all the fixings but I wanted to try the BBQ Chicken and it was delicious. My uber driver referred me and I'm glad he did. I had seen this place when searching for Pizza near Balboa Avenue. I am thankful I ordered and we will order again from the family owned business. You should too! read more

But I can get past that if the food is good.... we ordered chicken wings were rubbery ( hello can we deep fry some wings please instead of do what you did to them??) Winter season is soon approaching. For most of us that means the hustle and bustle of Christmas is just around the corner. You may be wondering what the hell that has to do with pizza. Well, pizza as good as this, is ones salvation. When the madness of life hits and you find your exhausted, cold, delirious and spent, you'll want to find yourself ordering pizza from Pappas! The workers slapped each other on the shoulders while swiftly spinning dough and arguing in Italian. It felt as though for a moment I was transported to another country. One in which time doesn't exist and the hustle and bustle of life is only a nightmarish old wives tale that vanishes upon the arrival of the warm and gooey slice of heaven that's made of dough, sauce, tomatoes and ricotta. Don't Expect: Anything fancy as far as the actual restaurant is concerned. It's not even what one would even call a restaurant. It's more of a dingy hole in the wall pizza joint, which adds to its charm. I'm not one to leave reviews, but in the current environment, I feel compelled to for our smaller businesses that are still trying to make things work. I've ordered delivery from here a few times from DoorDash, and each time the food has been amazing. Just ordered dinner tonight, things I haven't tried before--lobster ravioli with shrimp, papa's combo pizza, and chocolate cake. I haven't even gotten to the other two items (I know they'll be good, though), but the lobster ravioli in itself made me want to get on Yelp. I've had LR in several other restaurants and this is definitely delicious. Not only that, but it comes with a side salad and garlic bread, and for the cost this beats them all. They didn't skimp on the ravioli or the shrimp, which I feel most places do. And it was packed extremely well to hold in the heat. I definitely recommend this place! read more

We came on a Saturday thinking the menu would have a variety to choose from, but that was an incorrect assumption. We had the caprese pizza and the Italian Sando. The brioche bread was dry and tasteless, the pizza had a 5 dollops of mozzarella and not a lot else. The flavor of the pizza was ok, but honestly not worth it. The service was slow, but there was quite a crowd. The noise level was horrible...you had yell across the table to be hear. Don't waste your time. read more

My family and I live in East County, seeing all the lost small business due to the Pandemic. My husband I feel it's important to help local business, and try new places to eat. A friend recommended Papa's Pizza. I have to say it was a hit with my family. We ordered the Alfredo pizza, and antipasta salad, and the hubby had to try a hot San which. The restaurant is small, each employee we had contact with were friendly and professional, they were wearing masks. I am nurse and one big thing I look for is cleanliness and how business are helping to keep their customers safe. I observed the staff help customers ahead of us, enter each one the staff wiped areas down immediately after, they even hand sanitized before they helped. Our order was exactly as ordered. I can say with certainty we will return to Papa's Pizza.... I have my eye on their Greek Pizza. Thank you Papa's pizza for your delicious food. read more

The happy hour ends at 5:30 on weekdays I believe. My daughter enjoyed the cheese whale pasta, which is her very favorite. My wife had fettuccine Parmesan, which was an ice cream sauce and I had the penne Ragu. Everything was good and we enjoyed the evening. It looks like they've expanded the seating to include some outdoor street side tables. On a warm evening this was very nice to have breeze from the water.

Tasty, but too many blackberry seeds coming up the straw. I'd get another one next time. For the appetizers: RISOTTO ARANCINI (a MUST get) - these were absolutely delicious. Four good size bread crumbed fried balls of risotto sitting in the restaurant's own tomato gravy. HOMEMADE FOCACCIA WITH DIPPING OIL (yes, that's the official name) - this is a basket of super soft, warm focaccia bread for a great price. I would get it no matter what main course you're getting! It soaks up every sauce and it's just delicious. MAIN: BAKED LASAGNA (meat) - with the two appetizers this is the perfect size for both of us. No need to get one per person! It was absolutely wonderful. I would get it again. All in all, I'd definitely go back. The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful and the employees we came in contact with were great as well. Very very noisy, pushing for drunk consumption, sometimes good and inventive food, other dishes flat out sub par.The food is missing. They used to be here and it was an pleasure. Just about every time I order pizza, I order it from Papa's! The pizza is great, the calzone with extra ricotta are delicious, the antipasto is amazing and the buffalo wings are good. I don't have anything bad to say about Papa's. Delivery is fast and FREE (no delivery charge)!! Everything is priced fairly cheap so I don't have any complaints. read more

Parking was very easy in this plaza. The inside was divided into two dining areas along with countertop seating at the bar. I visited recently while there was a FIFA match being broadcast which resulted in one side of the place being full because of the TV screens. The food menu was comprised of two different sheets. One listed the three types of pizza slices at $4 or $5 apiece. The other featured whole 12" pizzas, salads, wings, fries, tenders, and chicken sandwiches. Six different kinds of draft beer were available for those who wanted to imbibe. I sat at a countertop adjacent to the pizza making station and oven. The sandwiches were available as parmesan or cutlet for $12 each. I chose the cutlet along with a side of fries. The thin chicken breast was dressed with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on a grilled flatbread wrap. A dill pickle wedge, jalapeno peppers, and a cup of dressing were provided on the side. The crispy fries came in a separate wax paper lined basket with a cup of ranch dressing for dipping. The sandwich was alright as I was given the option for even more toppings, but I decided to stick with the basics. I'm unsure if the menu will be expanded as the business has not been open for long. I am hopeful that will happen because the potential is there. The service from the staff was pleasant. I gave a rating between three and four stars for this initial dining experience at Midway Social.
