Came here for lunch and got seated quickly inside. Service was quick and friendly. I got the margherita and wife got some pizza with fennel sausage. Pizzas were $18 and $23 and were very sizable. Delicious.

Great Tuesday takeout special! Great happy hour! The pizza is done the right way, Neopolitan pizza. Sitting outside in Little Italy on a Wednesday night with a half off bottle of wine. What more can you ask for?

Atmosphere is nice and clean. Although a bit too dark to read the menu and our food. Even the waitress had to use her phone flashlight to see if what we ordered was correct. Service was excellent. Our server recommended some of the items and we were glad we took her recommendations. Food was ok. Just ordinary Italian pizza and pasta. Not much of a wow factor. Price wise was reasonable.

Still thinking about this pizza. It was that good! Flavorful, tender crust, delectable cheese and the perfect amount of sauce. I dined with 2 others. We're all home cooks and agreed, the pizza was divine. This spot offers lunch specials during the week and happy hour starts at 2:30! We had the happy hour margarita pizza, lamb skewers and spicy shrimp. I had a amaretto sour mocktail, my cousin a sparkling wine. She liked the wine so much she looked it up. This place has a vineyard in Italy. When I return to SD, I'll stop here again. The pizza is the standout. Lamb was good. Skip the shrimp. Skimp the amaretto sour mocktail.

Burrata, shows the size. Only 4 slices but more than enough for one person.

Overall it's ok food cool ambiance. As a disclaimer: I did not choose this place and wanted a cheaper pizza night than a nice night out. When we got there it was a 45 min wait so we sat at the bar. The bartender was very nice and helpful. The cider I got was ok but it was only $9 so I'm not complaining. Let's talk about food. I got the burrata pizza. This was my fault cause i was still expecting sauce but there was none. Which I kind of understand but for $19 I would have rather just got a burrata platter as like a dip. The dough was honestly amazing. Crust is very fluffy, closer to the center is extremely thin. Overall it was good and fresh but I wouldn't pay $19 for it again. Sister got the spicy salami. Again the dough was good. Sauce was good definitely a more savory red sauce. Salami was fs spicy, we love spice but this fs had a kick. Overall good I think it could have been great with a hot honey. Pizza is on the bigger side. There's only 4 slices but it's more like 8 regular slices. More than enough for one person. We both only had half and saved the rest for home. To wrap it up, the ambiance is good for a nice night out but the food is only ok for the price. Very fresh and good but I would rather spend less on a good pizza than more on a gourmet place. Would recommend for a nice date night or something like that.

Came to Izola in Little Italy on a Friday night without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to grab two seats at the bar. It was pretty cold since the front door was left open, but honestly we were just happy to get a spot on such a busy night. We started with a Super Tuscan red, which was very nice and a great choice for a chilly evening. The potato and leek soup was excellent -- super comforting and flavorful, especially on a cold night. The sprouts were also really tasty, a little spicy and well done. For pizzas, we tried the salami and the arugula. The salami pizza was good but a little bland in flavor. The arugula pizza had better overall flavor and the truffle oil was a nice touch. However, the egg on top was completely raw. When I mentioned it to the bartender, she explained that it's cracked on at the end and left to "melt" for a few minutes, and that's how it's meant to be served. I didn't realize eggs could melt -- and personally, I would have preferred it at least somewhat cooked rather than fully raw. Because of that, the dough underneath the egg ended up soggy and uncoordinated. Overall, it was an okay meal for a last-minute Friday night outing. There were definitely some highlights, but nothing that would make me rush back anytime soon.

I recently went to dinner with a friend at Isola Pizza Bar before a show nearby. We arrived just after 6:30 on a Tuesday night without a reservation. We were greeted and readily seated. The place was attractive and comfortable with small potted flowers on each table. Service started out great. I will say that the service from the gentleman pouring the water was excellent. I had been on a long run that day and he continually refilled my water... later brining a carafe so I could drink as much as I needed. I was definitely drawn to some of the mushroom pizzas. Our server stated that the pizza sauce was made in house and really delicious, so she swayed me away from the white pizza to the red pizzas with sauce. My friend and I decided to share the prosciutto cotto e funghi pizza and the arugula parmesan salad with the citrus vinaigrette. I also chose a glass of Sangiovese to accompany my pizza. The salad was absolutely delicious. The mushrooms and parmesan went so well with the lemon vinaigrette The pizza was also good. I liked it, but didn't love it. There was not a thing wrong with it, but there was no standout flavor. I know that they spoke a lot about the pizza sauce, but for me it didn't stand out any more than any other pizza sauce. Service was a bit slow after the salad. It took a while for the pizza to come out after the salad. It also took a while to get the check to head on our way to get to the show. I will say that everyone was friendly and polite. All in all, I enjoyed our meal at Isola. It was a good place to get some dinner before the show. My review is a solid 3.5, but I rounded up as the experience was positive. Though it is not may very favorite pizza place, I would not hesitate to return before another show.

Authentic Italian Pizza, baked in Napoli imported wood burning ovens that will leave you eager for the next bite! Isola Pizza Bar not only honors the craft of pizza making, they also elevate the restaurant experience with great service and a cozy ambiance. Our party of 10 ordered a variety of pizzas and each was distinct in flavor and mouthwatering delicious! From toppings to crust, everything about it was pizza perfection! I encourage you to order whatever catches your attention, you won't be disappointed!

The first time I came to Isola 5/5 experience. Their pizza is incredible, the service was good, the prosecco is really good too. Minus 1 star would have been minus 2 stars, but I averaged out my experiences. The second visit was 3/5 at best. I ordered the salami and olive platter on the happy hour menu that included focaccia. What I got was a salami platter with 2 olives and sliced whole wheat bread that they toasted. I brought it up to my waitress and she told me that focaccia only comes with the bruschetta. Luckily I still had my menu and showed her that it's supposed to be focaccia. She said she would get me some, and went to talk to her colleagues about it. Someone, who looked like a manager maybe, told her "next time you say..." I couldn't hear what was said, but immediately the waitress came up to me and told me that what I got was the focaccia but it was sliced in half but the kitchen will make me the whole. You can see from the picture that the bread was clearly NOT focaccia. I'm not stupid, and the fact that she tried to pull that on me as if I don't know the difference between sliced bread and focaccia was insulting, especially because they were already making me focaccia so it was unnecessary to come back to say more and make it worse. The manager (I think) is the one who dropped off the focaccia and gave me a bit of attitude when she did. This whole situation made me really uncomfortable especially because I was dining solo, but I was already seated with wine and food so I powered through despite how uncomfortable the staff made me feel. The happy hour ravioli is also frankly not great, it's very very heavy, the sauce is super thick and I couldn't eat it. The focaccia was incredible and saved the meal. I don't know if I'd come back, but maybe would take the pizza to go, because it really is incredible. So the food really saves this place. 0/5 in service today. It was actually atrocious. You should never make a customer that uncomfortable and try and make them feel stupid.

Verdure Al Forno (wood roasted vegetables, goat cheese, garlic confit, bagna-cauda dressing on the side) I really love how a little vegetables but not oily at all and quite large portion size on there. Be ask for the dressing on the side but didn't really need it after having that garlic and the goat cheese and chicken. Chicken was a little overcooked though so a little bit of a minus point there but love how they actually gave us that whole bulb of garlic and we could squeeze it out which was fun. Salamino Piccante Pizza (spicy salame, mozzarella, tomato sauce, basil, parmigiano) 10/10 Just the perfect amount of spice and good balance of everything going on. Quite a good pizza to be honest! Crust was nice and thin and sides had good amount of bread (some might find it much though). Some portions were a little less done, but I think they just took this out a little early. Mozzarella Affumicata. E Peperoncini Pizza 10/10 (smoked mozzarella, spicy cherry peppers, tomato sauce, parmigiano) Damn they actually got this spicy! But a good spicy though. Simple and delicious! Ortolana Vegetariana Pizza (eggplant, zucchini, broccoli, olives, bell pepper, mozzarella, fontina) 9/10 White sauce pizza that was actually quite loaded with vegetables which was nice. The other vegetarian pizza felt a little empty on top in comparison with this, but this was nice! The eggplant was not very flavorful though. Ricotta & Spinach Ravioli - 9/10 very flavorful And I was surprised how stuffed and lovely it was! The portion size is fairly small in comparison with all the other food, but that's how raviolis usually are. So definitely recommend getting something else if you're planning on getting this for your entree. Friends got some olives for the table and it was nice how it came with some bread on the side. That bread was finished even before the olives haha. As for service, beyond the server, I wound say the lady who was cleaning the table and such was a real gem! She only spoke Spanish and neither of us did, but she really helped us out! Offered us a new table that was away from the door since we were cold, and even got me honey when I asked for some to add to my pizza.

    Carbonara- flavorless

Ordered delivery, so I'm sure in-person dining is better. Food came pretty cold/room temperature. But even so, I was excited for the carbonara and then pretty disappointed when it didn't taste like anything at all. Even the pieces of pancetta were hit or miss. Some pieces were inedible because they were so chewy and dry. The pizza was limp. All of the toppings slid off so it wasn't a fun eating experience. Overall, I likely won't be trying this again.

Stayed in Little Italy for my husband's birthday weekend celebration and tried out Isola during our visit. First impression of the restaurant layout, it's a cute Pizza Bar. I ordered the Salamino Piccante. It was soo good. Hostess and staff were really nice and informative.

So I turned around and stopped in. What I found was a quaint, tucked-away, almost inconspicuous spot delivering food and hospitality at a level that honestly borders on absurd for how unassuming it appears from the outside. The service was warm, polished, and intuitive without ever feeling pretentious. Hats off to both chefs, Christi and Mark for making me feel welcome. The wine pairings? Thoughtful, balanced, and exactly what you hope for from a restaurant that actually respects food. And then there's the burger. This thing reads like poetry: Ribeye and NY strip trim blend, cooked like a proper steak (medium rare, the only correct answer here), melted gouda, a soft house potato roll, all resting in a luxurious bordelaise sauce that would make a French chef nod in approval. Seriously. This is not a "burger joint burger." This is a chef-driven, butcher-minded expression of beef. Every bite tastes intentional. The bordelaise underneath ties the entire thing together with this deep, glossy richness that elevates it from comfort food into something bordering on fine dining.
