Good Food, Good Service, I thought the ambiance was vey relaxing with lighting and TV's in the corners.

We were staying at one of the local hotels on 4/12/23 and ate at Papa's because it got good reviews and was close. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Seemed to be lots of folks who knew one another at the restaurant. I had meat loaf, which was a huge serving, and came with gravy, broccoli and mashed potatoes. My Husband had chopped steak which came with the same sides. We are salt enthusiasts but both meals were, even for us, very heavily salted. Papas grill is just as good if not better than their deli! I can honestly say I haven't had a bad meal here either take out or eat in. They have a small patio off the side of the building for outdoor seating. They have a bar area and plenty of TVs to watch sports. They have a decent kids menu with about 4 options and will commonly let you sub sides (we shoot for veggies instead of fries). My go-to options include the Buffalo chicken wrap, quesadilla, black bean burger, and tomato soup/grilled cheese dippers (who can say no to those!). Covid precautions are enforced. read more

This has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. But I was there last week and none of the staff were wearing masks or gloves. Nice big new place just outside of Columbus IND. Was refered by a butcher in town and have to say was happy I listened to him. Wife had a chicken sandwich no not a chicken sandwich but double decker sandwich. It had 2 pieces of really tender chicken. I had the grilled chicken salad. It was huge. Went there for lunch/dinner tonight and really liked it! They had discount appetizers from 2-5pm. The restaurant is clean and has TVs to watch. The menu is simple but yet covers the gambit really well. I had the chicken nachos and fried spicy cheese squares for starters. Loved them. Then fish and chips for dinner. It was very good also. The prices are very reasonable and made the value seem well above average to most establishments. read more

My wife and I really enjoyed our lunch at Papa's Grill. We were enjoying a day trip exploring Nashville and Columbus and decided to stop in based upon reviews. Glad we did! The food was tasty and generously portioned. Based upon rave reviews, I ordered the Grilled Cheese Dunkers and Tomato Bisque Soup. Simple grilled cheese with the gooey orange (Velveeta?) cheese trying to escape from the toasted slices of bread were perfect for dipping in the creamy soup. Note that you will need to double dunk your bread, so if you have to share, be aware! :) I also really enjoyed my Bistro Top End (salad). I ordered my steak strips medium rare and they were! Nicely seasoned and tender, they paired well with the onion straws and the rest of the large salad. I recommend the balsamic vinegar and olive oil which come in small containers so that you can pour the balance between them that suits your tastes. My wife went with the Lemon Almond Chicken Salad (salad). The plate of greens and veggies were topped with a scoop of chicken salad in the middle. She thought the flavor was good, but the chicken salad a little dry, less creamy than she likes. They have a bar in the back and when the weather is suitable, a patio for outdoor seating as well. Service was the standard waiter service which was okay, but forgot a few simple things like clearing empty dishes when he passed. One last note: The restaurant is located in a side strip mall off of SR 46 just a couple blocks west of I-65. There is no stoplight at the intersection and because there are frequent turns into the location, it is hard to pull out and return to the interstate. Review #349 read more

Fun fact, almost no restaurants (other than chains like McDonalds, Wendy's, etc) are open on Sunday in Columbus! Lucky for us, Papa's was open. Second time at Papa's and bumping it up a star for good service, good food and being open on Sunday. I had the Indiana pork tenderloin sandwich and my partner had her go-to Rueben. Jean says that their coleslaw is the best she has ever had, she really enjoyed it. My tenderloin was good. Crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. I was underwhelmed by the pale slice of tomato on the sandwich, considering this is high season for tomatoes in the Midwest. All in all, was disappointed we couldn't try a new restaurant when we passed through Columbus on a Sunday afternoon but we were happy that Papa's was open and the food and service continue to be good. read more

After reading all the great reviews we were really looking forward to eating here. We ordered the gyro and the Hawaiian chicken sandwich. We didn't like either one. The chicken was dry and had very little flavor. One reviewer said this is the best gyro in Indiana, if that's true I don't recommend buying gyros in Indiana. It wasn't off the wheel and it was bland. I've been here several times and my go to is the buffalo chicken salad with blue cheese dressing. I had been craving meatloaf and the other restaurants in town where I thought I could get meatloaf were closed. We were on the west side of town, so we decided to go to Papa's. I saw they had grilled meatloaf on the menu. Total comfort food with mashed potatoes, green beans and their yummy yeast rolls. The meatloaf was a bit bland, but I'm used to spicy stuff and most people don't expect meatloaf to have any zing. Great selection of beer. Service has always been impeccable. read more

Thank you, Yelp, once again, for pulling up the right recommendation for a traveling family, especially on a crisp fall day when your soul yearns for comfort food and your kids yearn for a TV screen... Based on the reviews, I imagined a little old-timey place, but it turned quite modern with flat TV screens lining the walls with just one artifact of stained glass reminding of good ol' dining times. The service, however, was warm, fast and friendly - in tribute to those times. If you are considering grilled cheese / tomato soup dunkers, just go ahead and get them, otherwise you will get a case of food envy and will try to convince your companion(s) to share, which they will not be inclined to do after the first taste. Surreptitious stealing or a food fight may ensue, which is worth it. That is to say that the almond chicken salad would under regular circumstances be subject to food envy itself - crisp lettuce and onions, ripe tomatoes, well blended savory chicken salad. The kid's meal of corn dogs was the only entree that was just OK - nothing to Yelp about. Next time we would skip the kids' menu. We have been eating at Papa's Grill for many years and we are always delighted with the food and service. Most recently, we went in for dinner and I had the Ribeye Steak and my friend had the Grill Cheese Dunkers. The Ribeye was cooked exactly medium and was very tender. The baked potato was fresh and very good. The Dunkers came with what appeared to be two grilled cheese sandwiches and a huge bowl of soup. My friend chose the tomato soup and he said that it was very filling. The beer selection is very extensive and it wasn't an easy decision choosing our beer for the evening. The server was attentive and friendly and he was able to answer any questions we had about the menu. If you find yourself in Columbus Indiana, you owe it to yourself to eat at Papa's Grill. read more
