I love their pizza. For the price and the quality, it's very well worth it. Their restaurant is more for takeout, it's not really for dine-in nor do they have the staff for dine-in. I love their staff though, he was very nice and friendly. A lot of people order from them so you know they're good. They don't take credit cards or debit cards though, sometimes they do but it's better to be safe and bring cash. read more

This is the place for you Having been here previously, we knew that we would only need one panzerotti but we couldn't pass up the garlic bread. For the price, they really load you up with the goods. Simply put, the best pizza in London, bar none. Their panzarotti's are huge, enough to be filling, or to save some for the next day. The large deluxe pizza, which is only $13.50, is enough to do you two meals. How many other pizza places can say the same thing? Went to Papa's tonight with my 11-year-old daughter, and we agreed that this was the best panzerotti/calzone we'd both eaten in London. I've tried them all, pretty much, but somehow I'd never tried this location -- I guess partly because it's tucked away on a little side street, and not really impressive to look at from the outside. However, I am now a convert. I will never eat a panzerotti elsewhere in London. Well, okay, maybe if someone else buys one for me... The calzone is big (enough for just about any two normal people), very tasty, and totally affordable. So, the downside is that the appearance of the place is not great, inside or out. But do not let that stop you!! It is *well worth* going in. In addition to the food and the unbeatable price, the family who run the place were very nice and very friendly; we chatted with them at length, and when the time came to pay the bill and I pulled out my credit card -- only to find that they're a cash-only establishment -- well, didn't they tell me that my lone $20 bill would be fine, though it was actually several dollars short, and despite my protestations of going immediately to the nearest bank machine? Yes, yes they did. I'm *not* saying you should go in and try to rip them off: I'm saying that they're very nice people and that they run a terrific little restaurant. Probably the best panzarotti I've had in London! Papa's is the kind of place you'd drive by and never notice, but it's worth the trip. A deluxe panzarotti cost $10 including tax, and was easily enough for 2 meal (like stuff yourself til' you're going to be sick meals), probably more. Seriously, the thing overtook a 12" dinner plate. You could definitely split one between 2-3 people. I believe a large deluxe pizza to go is about $13. I ordered for pickup, my order was ready fairly quickly - about 15 minutes? Bit of a downside that they only take cash, so be aware of that, there is no debit or credit card. The dipping sauce was pretty good, maybe not the best I've ever had, but the dough and filling was great. They also have fairly limited hours, about 4pm-8pm, so it's only really good for dinner, and no late nights. It's definitely a family business. The restaurant itself isn't all that fancy inside (its not dirty, just... outdated), most people seem to get their orders for pickup, which is what I'd do as well. No real reason to stuck around. Wow. Did my friends and I expect this restaurant to be a front for some sort of organized crime before we came in... perhaps, but that was instantly forgotten as we entered to a warm greeting from Papa himself. As he regaled us with stories ranging from his Italian roots, the history of the restaurant, or how young men these days don't treat women properly, we ordered panzerottis (veggie for me, meat for my roommate) and a penne pasta with meat sauce (for his girlfriend). Not only were we surprised by the size of the portions we were getting for the price, but the taste was better than expected as well. My eyes lit up when I saw the golden brown fried crust of the mammoth panzerotti being brought to the table. Papa's Pizza has been a London mainstay for as long as I can remember - which is quite a while. As many of the other reviews have already mentioned, its not much to look at but the food is great and the servings are more than generous. Before I tempt you any further I need to mention that this place is strictly cash only so be prepared before you head over. That being said, they're also pretty well known for allowing customers to simply pay on their next visit for those who find themselves short. I mean honestly ... who else does that nowadays? The garlic bread, pizza and lasagna I can personally vouch for as being amazing but they are likely most famous for their panzarotti. It's clearly on the short list for the best in the city and perhaps even at the very top of said list. For about $10 you get a deep-fried delight about the size of a football. By personal quest to eat the entire thing has ended in defeat as often as success. The food is great. Actually, I think I'm going to head over there now. Not even joking. read more

I went to Papas with my family for dinner and it was by far one of the best Italian meals I've had in a LONG time. The portions are huge, everything (including the pasta and bread) is homemade, and the price is right. It's not much to look at, but if you want a tasty, homemade meal there's no better place in London. read more
