Honestly my experience was beyond outstanding!! Not to mention the fact that we are in a global pandemic with paper shortages and massive supply chain issues.. They set the bar high for service, quality and overall customer experience making them my new go to printer for all my brand and personal needs. I found Paper Chase Press online after the designer working on my brand was set on using a more "traditional printer" for our launch stationary. I liked the fact they were women-run, local, transparent about their process and actually gave a fuck. Their commitment to sustainability is amazing and living proof of how intentional they are in their process - start to finish. First & foremost, their staff is top notch especially Cole & Carolyn. They were incredibly responsive and you actually talk to real people who care From my first phone call with Cole, I was fully onboard. Cole is warm, extremely helpful, knows her shit... but most importantly actually wanted to understand the backstory and my intention behind the design. She approached the process as a true collaboration, that type of energy is rare these days. Carolyn oversaw production on my order. Not only did she deliver excellent quality work with an intricate design on a tight deadline .. but she literally delivered EARLY.As a entrepreneur launching my company, this was an actual godsend. Customer service review, not quality of service/producr review. If your project is what Paper Chase considers "small" this might not be the right printer for you. Paper Chase didn't bother to send me the promised estimate after our meeting. I waited 11 days for an estimate before I decided to ping the sales person who then finally responded saying they did not have the actual estimate and asking "did $1500 sound like something I was still interested in exploring." This sure sounded to me like they hadn't done the actual estimate yet and but would start if the price range didn't scare me away. The cost she mentioned was about what I expected. The CS was not. This left with the distinct impression my small job was not important enough even to give me the estimate/bid. I guess I should a have checked the reviews first. Found someone great... was just disappointed not to use a place so local to me. read more

I have been a customer at Paper Chase Press for over 20 years. They always do great work. However, my once-a-year order is overshadowed by consistently poor customer service. Despite my loyalty over two decades, the staff and management have always made it clear that my business is a LOW priority because it isn't a massive, high-volume order. Each time I visit, I am made to feel like an inconvenience. The interactions are dismissive and condescending, and I get the distinct impression that my small, once-a-year business is not worth their time. It is reflected is delayed email response or NO email response. Always an excuse. It's a shame as the work is good but the consistent cold and unappreciative attitude makes me feel less than valued. Use another printer if you can! Unprofessional and pretty much screwed us over for a big event. We were told that in order to make a book delivery by a certain date we needed to rush to complete the design (including over the weekend) to submit that design in order to be printed in time. When we turned in all the materials AND had already paid, they came back to us saying it couldn't be done in time for the event even though they had all the specs for about a week to review and let us know if it was possible. Not to mention the biggest hold up was that their team took days to respond to us about very simple questions. Not only did we rush to get everything turned in by the date the Paper Chase team gave us, but we wasted an entire week that could've been used at another printer in order to print the books by the event. They wasted our time, made us rush for no reason, and were not very helpful at trying to find a remedy. We luckily found another printer who are able to make it happen for us, it may be difficult but HIGHLY recommend finding other shops in LA that won't waste your time, will correspond with you in a timely manner, and will actually be helpful. read more

I just received my first order from Paper Chase, and I have to say that I am blown away by the quality of printing and the level of customer service. I read some of the other reviews, and maybe they just caught them on a bad day? Who knows, because that's not what I experienced at all. I was attracted to their business because they offer eco-friendly paper and printing techniques. The ordering process was quick and easy. I've been designing and ordering printed products for 7+ years, and will typically will use a local printer or moo. I like Paper Chase's process better, because they send a digital proof to make sure everything looks good (moo does not offer this service) before printing. There was an issue with my file, and the Paper Chase associates helped me through the process of fixing and resubmitting the file so it would print correctly. My only complaint is the production and shipping time took longer than expected, but was still quicker than the turnaround at Moo. The physical product is better than I expected and I'll definitely be ordering again! read more

This place has the worst - uncaring - customer service. I went to Paper Chase with an idea and need. I described to them what I wanted, and they referred me to a designer. The designer accepted the job and worked many - pricey - hours on the project. But he wasn't qualified to assume the job. He produced limited results. Later, after a lot of money was poured into the project, the designer informed me that he only does *graphic* design on top of pre-designed brochure formats. WTF? So, we paused. And PaperChase began vehemently pursuing payment; daily emails and calls to our business, and a complete lack of care that they succeeded in delivering nothing. Their "collection" strategy without results put my relationship with my client in jeopardy. This company is more concerned with getting paid than servicing the customer. I think, frankly, that they felt the project a lost cause from the beginning and just wanted to get as much as possible from me before I cut them loose. Since payment, I've been contacted ZERO times by them. No follow-up. No, "how's the project?". No emails. Nothing. No caring. No worries. No, "did we help you or screw you over?". I guess that's the answer. They screwed me. And they know it. I expected more of a smaller press - mom & pop - and I wanted to do business with an organization with family values like my own. I was fooled. The place is next to strip joint, BTW. Totally classy, rather class-less. I tried hard not to write this, but since finding an online company, having a custom InDesign template created to my specification along with their support I can see the difference working with a quality organization delivers ... results. From our very first meeting with the owner, Nicole, to go over our goals and needs to a last minute scramble by the Paper Chase Press team to rush through delivery of samples (of our entire collection!) for a photoshoot deadline that couldn't be moved on our end, they've been by our side the entire way. Here are a few other highlights: -They are super responsive and you are kept in the loop at ALL times. -If you hit a roadblock, they won't stop until they've figured out a way to make it happen. And if it's not in their wheelhouse, they're more than happy to introduce you to someone else who can help (and they'll only come to you with highly rated recommendations and references). -As for the people, I can't say enough about everyone we've had the pleasure of working with along the process. I was so disappointed in my interaction with this place! These guys are like the used car salesman of the printing world . I really wanted to support local businesses so when my company wanted plain boring folders produced with our logo I went to them. I went into the office and met with the crew. It's a cute art gallery looking spot off sunset with a very *tumblr girl* looking staff. I met with them and discussed exactly what I wanted and looked forward to giving my $ to the group of young female creatives I saw working there. They gave me an estimate 2 weeks later. TWO. WEEKS. for an estimate on folders. By that point I had assumed they'd forgotten about me bc it wasn't a big order. But hey... those 2 weeks later they gave me an estimate on 100 folders for close to $900. Of course In those 2 weeks I contacted other companies and the price for the same product was around $100-200 for double the amount of folders. (The best deal I found elsewhere was $150 for 250 Folders, the worst was $250 for 100 folders) When I asked them to clarify why their pricing was about $8 per folder wholesale ( bc I honestly thought there must have been a miscommunication) , they sent me an email back with a ton of buzzwords about custom die cuts being expensive (kind of like when you go to a car mechanic and they throw jargon at you about your transmission and undercarriage and hope you don't know what they're talking about) . When I asked for an individual price breakdown of folders, labor, die cut, etc they said that wasn't possible. I can't attest to the quality of their products; it does look good. However, my experience with paper chase felt like a scam. Like they were hoping I wouldn't ask any follow up questions. Honestly their stuff is cute and I'm sure if you know someone who knows them you'd get a good deal. But if you're looking for something fast and easy for your business.... just hit up Staples. read more

3 stars for the quality of the paper and the number of customization options available (colored edges on flat cards, colored envelopes, etc...) The color printing itself is only okay: the images on my final products were a little bit off center, even though the printed proofs they sent were not, and the colored edges I got bled a little bit onto a few of the cards. Both mistakes are only noticeable if you look really closely. I'll give them a pass. Zero stars for the customer service. The production process was acceptable up until the printed proof stage. I sent in my proofs and waited for an update on when they would begin printing my order. More than a week goes by, and I don't hear from them. I send an email, and got a hurried response that said they received it a few days back and they are currently working on my order. Great! 10 days go by, and no update. I email them again. I get a response that says their machine is down, so there is going to be a delay in printing. Once their machine is working again, my order will be one of the first to be printed. Another week goes by. No update. At this point, it has been almost three weeks since they received my proof, and apparently, they hadn't even started printing my order yet. I email AGAIN asking for an update. Finally, I get an email that says they have printed and shipped my order. I ask if I could get tracking information - no response. Of course! I had printed with PCP a few years ago and thought I would use them this time. I won't make that mistake again. read more

I had a bad experience with Paper Chase. I wanted to get some postcards printed so I filled out the quote on their website. I didnt hear from them for three days so I called and spoke to a girl who was passive agressive on the phone and said they would process my order the next day. I finally got the quote three days later and when I asked them (via email) how soon the order could be ready (I was in a rush to get the job done) they NEVER WROTE BACK. I was excited about using a local printer but I will not be contacting them again. I'm sure there are other local printers who actually care about their customers. read more

If there was a half star option I would leave it for this company. . . Ordered business cards more than a month ago after two sets of delays picked them up today. Firstly the company charged my card and then failed to notify me that they did not receive my design (through their own builder) for 2 weeks. Then after noticing that the cards were printed off center they said it was my own fault for not using Indesign (though they give no disclaimers online or in person). They offered a 25 % discount and conveniently pushed their $150/hr consultation services. From one small business to another: This is ridiculous. The attitude of the employees as well as the cost of services did not add up. Thought I'd support a local small business, but I guess not this one. read more

My graphic designer found paper chase on line. I happen to live somewhat close to the shop and picked up my business cards. They did not come out as I liked and seemed different from the web description. They quickly offered to redo them at no added expense. The cards were thicker then standard and embossed so not cheep. I thought the card was going to be even thicker then what I got and deeper embossing. It is a several day process to produce this type card and within a week I picked up the new cards and again no additional charge plus they added a foil to my embossing to make it pop. Amazing customer service and everybody is very helpful and nice to deal with. I highly recommend them and will be back. read more

There are a couple of nice customer service people there but I think the printing's not that great. I ordered 100 flat 5x7 postcards and there are about 23 cards that I can't use because there are white spots on the front (image area) and light but noticeable smudges on the back (writable area). Paper quality is good, but I was especially frustrated with the customer service. My team wanted to print samples of the cards to make sure the quality was good. We were willing to pay. In order to get proofs, the cost is $50+. Way too high for samples. In other words, 100% of the risk is on the buyer. They assume no risk at all. I don't see why. They should have confidence that customers would be satisfied with the work. I was also frustrated that I couldn't make payments when I went to their location. Any other print supplier, that's a non-issue. Last thing. The employees just didn't listen to me clearly. I'd say I need x, then they'd say I need to do y. Then I do y, and it turns out they didn't hear accurately what I said I needed. And thus, the instructions they gave me to prep the design were initially wrong. Overall, I was just frustrated through the whole process. If you don't mind a bunch of friction all the way up to the point of making a purchase, then no big deal. But if you do, you might want to consider some other options. Copymat is right down the street from these guys and they offer ZERO friction. read more

I paid close to 10 thousand dollars up front, and to make a terrible long story short, they never return phone calls, the COLOR IS TERRIBLE. They are suppose to be a photography printing place and the book proof that they let go out their door twice was so embarrassing , I could never run a business like them- I am looking for a new place right now, please let me know of other printer/binders- also making sure to let all photography outlets know how terrible the service and quality is. read more

Definitely not happy with their service. I gave them the okay to print my birth announcements on November 18. It is now December 11 and I have YET to receive my birth announcements. My son is over 2 months old, everyone already knows he is born and has seen his photos already...what is the point now?! I also would not recommend this website/company for someone who wants to make an easy post card. There are no premade templates.This company is for techy people only. This is based on my past experience with this bait and switch company and horrible customer service. The owner tried to pull a switch on me when I paid for a 4 color printed brochure and they returned a very poor quality digital printed brochure. I showed him the invoice and it stated 4 color print and he tried to argue the digital print was a better quality for the same price. I refused the order and demanded a refund. The whole issue put me behind schedule and took weeks to get a refund. I found another printer who did a great job and printed the job correctly. read more
