No entry due to COVID, you can order at the front and they'll bring it out to you. This is the second time I've been here, I've gotten the cold brew, milo malt, and the Yoo-hoo mixed with espresso and they were all delicious! Paper Plane is quickly becoming the top option for discerning coffee fans in the Montclair area. The main event is the coffee and concoctions that Jon and his team has come up with. They roast beans in-house and always have 4 to 6 varieties to choose from if you'd like bagged. I am a pour-over guy but their cortados are usually on point as well. Pre-pandemic, their indoor cafe was a cool little hideaway with a "Don't Panic" sign and Super Nintendo wall system. It's more than just the coffee, or the beans, it's the people that work there, it's their love of coffee, and the experience they want to share with you. Every morning I walk into Paper Plane, the person serving me, always has a smile on their face, when you are going into a hectic workday, that smile means a lot. I'm so happy I came across this coffee shop. Whoever dreamed up this magical cafe has a beautiful mind. The interior has a gorgeous style and is very trendy. I had the Mayan Latte (I think this is what it was called), and it was soo good! My husband had the Ethiopian pour over, he said it was amazing. I'll start by saying that the shop is quite nice and the staff is incredibly friendly. But the best part by far: the coffee. I work for an industry-leading espresso machine manufacturer so I have coffee all day, every day. I hope this doesn't come across as pretentious, but making me excited about coffee is reaaaaally difficult, yet I am still SO excited to go to Paper Planes on Saturdays and get a hot La Paz pour over. I recently moved to Essex County from Manhattan and this is my first time living outside a major city full of cute local coffee shops. I discovered Paper Plane through the local Montclair Instagram account and decided to give them a try while doing my holiday shopping mid-move. Initial reaction ~ I instantly felt at home! The shop itself is super adorable and was so festive for the season! I ordered inside and waited outside for the pickup window. There was a group of other patrons and everyone was so friendly and chatting while masked and 6' apart - love the community that has formed around this coffee shop! Like everyone else, I am prioritizing shopping local and small and was drawn to this spot since they also roast their beans here in Montclair - very cool! Since I loved my first drink so much, I picked up a bag of beans for myself and also for everyone I needed holiday gifts for! The coffee was a hit from the east coast all the way to California! I've been back multiple times to make my way through their menu. I love their Science selection of drinks! This morning I tried the Butterboo and it did not disappoint - applause for an original recipe with oat milk for me and my dairy-free folks! My house is always stocked with Paper Plane beans and today I also picked up their new rum aged coffee ~ so many unique options to try here, I cannot recommend them enough!
