I'm Berry determined. Am going to leave no Scone unturned!

Is it time for tea? You'd better believe it. 'Cause I've waited oolong time for a darjeeling spot like this: Hubby and I stopped in here on impulse and a lovelier, more tranquil respite from reality I could not have asked for. The two ladies operating the store at the time were beyond warm and welcoming. And so, so patient while a certain someone (who, me?) agonized over which tea to choose. I recall wishing there was a chocolaty tea to enjoy with milk, or say, a fruity fall option like pear and ginger, but in the end I was happy with my soothing chamomile pick. Ever since a trip to London a zillion years ago when I splashed out on a proper high tea, I have been a wee bit obsessed with the concept. I mean, c'mon. Tea served in a pretty pot, along with scones, clotted cream and jam? To say nothing of cute little sandwiches with the crust cut off, and assorted sweets. Yes, please! I *believe* they offer at least some of these items here. We grabbed a Strawberry Scone to bring home to the kid and Mama snuck a bite. Crisp-crusted on the outside and flaky 'n tender on the inside, it was packed with berries and just delicious! It took everything I had to part with it. Am near-certain this is run by the same folks who own the equally charming Pie Store, which specializes in savory Cornish-style pasties, next door. Anglophiles rejoice! Seriously. Only bummer is that seating is somewhat limited, so if this place ever gets really busy, it wouldn't take much to lose its zen-inducing appeal. Bottom line: Big time love for this tearrific shop! I go weak for peaceful sanctuaries within easy driving distance of NYC. This is that and then some.

In the land of many coffee shops (which I love), it's so nice to have a place dedicated to the art of tea. I finally was able to visit the Tea shop and buy some lovely scones, which are the real deal (more bread-like than cake, as it should be). They also serve tea but do know that it's not a place to get high tea. Rather, it's a small space that's also airy, light and with a high ceiling where you may have a cuppa with a scone at a shared table or on a stool. It'd be nice if they could have a couple of small cafe tables for 2; however, they'd need to change the interior a little. They have a nice selection of British tea and sweets - my favorite being digestives. Definitely worth a visit!

I really enjoyed visiting this tea store! It's very pleasant and the lady brewing the tea is very nice. I hope to visit again very soon!

Little gem in this beautiful neighborhood. It's a small family owned business with lots to offer. The owner is English, spoke with N adorable accent. The scones are from The Pie Store (another English establishment a couple of doors down). The have a good selection of pastries and baked items. I saw signs for their soup and lunch specials. They have a tea bar offering a large variety of teas ready to order for the tea lover and some prepackaged for purchase and other adorable items for purchase. The tea cups would make a great gift. The chocolate was unique, maybe a great gift for myself :) I want to try their kitten times next time.

In the words of Jessica Williams of 2 Dope Queens, "I got the idea once that I was going to become this tea maven..." I went into The Tea Store (already a fan of The Pie Store for holiday gifts for my British fam) with thoroughly no tea knowledge beyond "I know I like rooibos and drinking tea calms me." The staff was so kind and didn't pressure me to spend out of my budget at all. It's so refreshing to go into higher end stores and feel completely at ease. She generously served me two samples, one I knew I'd probably like, and a really nice Oolong, which I've never tried. Both were absolutely lovely, especially the oolong, and now i have the confidence to branch out! The store is beautifully decorated and clearly thoughtfully curated, both retail and food/tea service. It is very easy to stay longer than you plan because of the nice light and environment. I can't wait to go back once I'm closer to maven level with my home tea service game. I look forward to trying one of their selections of Craft Tea handmade blends out of Philly. Service is A+ and the knowledgeable staff is so helpful.

Tasty baked goods from next door at the famous Pie Store and a fantastic loose leaf tea collection are a great start. I started my journey with Himalayan Black ('fruity and fragrant black tea') which comes steeped in a glass teapot. Enjoyed it with a killer raisin scone. There's some French music from long ago playing in the background adding to the effect (Edith Piaf?). Even the sweeteners are exotic; added some 'Knotweed Blend' honey from upstate New York to mine which was harvested in September 2017 it says on the label. What's knotwood? It's a cozy place with stool seats in the window and a single table for 6 in the middle. Looking forward to fall and winter days working my way through the tea list (40+ long).

Such a great place!! Tea is amazing and the atmosphere is so nice.

Chip City is a franchise that specializes in baking cookies with a soft, gooey center. The Montclair location is on a busy main street. Street parking is difficult to find during peak hours. It's conveniently open until 1AM on weeknights and 3AM on weekends! When I walked in, I couldn't get over how cute and bright the store was. It's small with very limited seating. To whoever is in charge of the marketing, design, and logos... kudos to you! A very sweet and friendly employee answered all of my questions and helped me out. Since I came much later in the evening, I was worried there wouldn't be that many cookies available, but I was wrong. There were plenty AND they were still fresh too! They offer classic flavors as well as seasonal and specialty ones. Flavors are rotated weekly and you can check the website for the line-up. Dairy free options are available. There's a ton of creative flavors, so don't miss out! In addition to regular cookies, they also sell crookies (croissant/cookie hybrid), cretzels (croissant/pretzel/cookie hybrid), ice cream, and merchandise! Each cookie is around $5+, but trust me... they are dense, large, and can be shared with other people. Did I want to buy 4? Yes... but I have self control (sometimes) LOL, so I stuck with buying a classic Cookies N' Cream. It has a buttery sugar cookie base loaded with crushed chocolate cookie sandwiches and creamy white chocolate - basically tastes like an Oreo milkshake! What I love about these cookies is that they don't just taste like a giant blob of sugar. You can actually appreciate and distinguish between the different flavors and ingredients. If you prefer crispy/crunchy cookies, you probably won't be a fan. If you enjoy cookies with a slightly crunchy exterior, but a soft, warm, ooey, gooey (almost raw-like) interior, Chip City is for you! Every bite is sweet & decadent, but not overwhelming. Don't forget to sign up for their rewards program to get discounts and freebies! GET GOOEY!!!

***3 1/2 stars***…read more Yesterday I decided on a total whim to just grab lunch here before seeing Disclosure Day across the street. I've walked by a gazillion times, usually in the mid-afternoon or evening when the place is really jumping (at least based on the outdoor seating situation). This time around, I came for an early lunch around 11:30am when there were only a few other people sitting down and I had my pick of indoor or outdoor seating. I didn't get much of a look at the interior during my brief trip inside, but it seemed pleasant enough. Morally I didn't have much of a choice though but to sit outside at their communal picnic tables, given that it was sunny and 72. You do the math. As most of my solo eating adventures go, the service was excellent. It definitely helped that it wasn't busy, but both waitresses on the premises were super attentive and I ordered my meal literally within 30 seconds of sitting down. I wasn't on a hardcore schedule (my movie wasn't for an hour and 15 minutes) but I was in and out in probably 20-25 minutes, which is just wild for a legit sit-down meal. Top marks all around. I liked that they kept a bottle of tap at my table too; just efficient there. As soon as I saw gnocchi on the menu, my decision was made. I went with the gnocchi al pomodoro off the lunch entree menu, which was honestly just okay. This is usually a dish I really enjoy, and while it was clearly fresh (the chunks of mozzy are a nice touch) it was pretty bland and tasteless. It's extremely rare for me to look around for seasoning, but I did here (and didn't see any within range, so let it go). Honestly very surprising. The gnocchi itself was fine, but the pieces were so small it was actually difficult to eat/get them onto the fork tines. I had to scoop most of them up, and it was a slow process. Not the biggest deal in the world (the gnocchi was tasty in and of itself) but just a slight annoyance. The price point was fine; with tip, I paid a little over $20, which is on par for Montclair. Maybe it was just an off day/lunch, but I think the play is to come back for dinner with a bottle of wine and get a different dish. This place is very popular (during my brief meal, several people walked by openly declaring they were going to stop by later to eat) so perhaps a few grains of salt here, which would have been nice to add to my dish.
