Food was good, not the absolute best i had but very good nonetheless. Its a food truck so the ambiance was out door and they were parked at my complex. I tried to go into it knowing it'd be pricey cause it is a food truck but I was still shocked to pay $40 for 3 quesabirrias and some al pastor fries. The service was good, the guy serving was super nice and was constantly updating me on my order.

1) if the birrias had onions in them instead of just cilantros, it would have been better. But the meat is tender+juicy. Also no consome for birria. 2) quessabirria is just melted cheese in your tacos. Total of my birria tacos+fries+quessabirria was $54 (in case you are wondering about the prices they don't show).

This place is fucking disgusting!!! if I could rate it a 0 I would. they took 1 hour to make the food out of the food truck when there was only 2 people in front of me. there food that they gave us looks NOTHIN like their instagram photos. THIS PLACE IS A COMPLETE CATFISH!!! they tasted like unseasoned white peoples tacos. would NEVER eat here again im actually scared im gonna get food poisoning from the place

SUMMARY: Yes I recommend. Nite that this was only my third time trying birria tacos. Oh and this is a taco truck parked in front of Flicks, open from 2100 - 0300. (Disclaimer: I was not drunk when I ordered so this review is from a sober perspective .) FOOD: these birria tacos made me forget my problems. It was an explosion of flavors and texture in my mouth. Meat with the cheese and the sauce was unforgettable it made me want to try more birria tacos. You can ask extra sauce if you'd like. My only complaint was, the saltiness, it was more than my usual preference. (Disclaimer, I like salt but my prefernece is not as high as the average? But I don't like bland either.) With that said, I enjoyed this very much. But I woke up like a puffer fish. Worth it though! The tacos were grilled like toasty, some parts were grilled like almost burnt (not a negative for me) and some parts were soft. The cheese melt within the meat and the sauce. It was delicious! AMBIANCE: well this is a taco truck, so casual! SERVICE: great! Can handle a convo. Polite and friendly. Sorry picture is dark because I ate inside my car and it was past midnight. BEST SHIT EVER. SO FIRE AND SO YUMMY. They are so nice and I have gotten everything and it is so yummy. Everybody is awesome food is fire and memories made for a lifetime. 10/10 recommend. They are in PB and Hillcrest. Get your meal ASAP.

Needed a food vendor last minute for an event & Ivan really came thru for us! Our guests really loved the food & variety. Special shoutout to the Birria Fries, which so many people were raving about. Would definitely recommend for your events or even if you wanna grab a bite for yourself.

First of all, the food itself was super good. We got the quesa birria tacos and the al pastor fries. These were actually my favorite quesa birria tacos I've had in San Diego so far. The fries were loaded and I was happy with the amount of stuff put on them. They were pretty salty too so I'd recommend having plenty of water with these haha. The guy I talked to was super nice and we got the food fast after ordering. The only thing is there were actually no prices written on the menu. The 2 tacos and fries came out to $37 and even though I kind of expected that with there being no posted prices I was still a little shook lol. So not sure I'll necessarily be running back here due to the prices but delicious nonetheless.

We were lucky to have these guys posted at our apartment from 5p-8p tonight. Simple menu, tasty food. Ordered a couple quesabirria tacos. The cheese makes it more sinful but soooo much better. Def the way to go if you're not lactose...but also even if you are. Perfectly crisp shell, tasty, juicy Birria, and finished off with cilantro and onion. Chicken rolled tacos comes in a set of 5. Topped with cotija, lettuce, crema, purple cabbage. Again, crispy shells, tasty filling. Really can't go wrong. They also had a potato version if you're meat-averse. Ask for a few sauce containers (small) and fill them up with the self-serve sauce station. Light green is milder, more tart but still has some heat, while the darker sauce has a richer, smokier flavor and was noted to be the spiciest of the options. I wanted to try the shrimp gobernador, but unfortunately, the guy at the window said he didn't know how to make them? Guess I'll have to wait 'til next time. $24 for 2 quesabirria tacos and 5 chicken rolled tacos. Cash or Venmo.

I thought Birria was overhyped until I gave it another try here at Papis Birria truck! They have been coming recently at the Gasoline Depot where the 7/11 is. I tried their rolled tacos and queso birria tacos. They do beef here because I know some places do goat, which I do not prefer. The consummé is amazing and I wish they gave a little more in the sauce cups but I loved it! The rolled tacos are filled with that shredded beef as well and topped with lots of shredded lettuce, cream, and cotija cheese. Can't really go wrong with rolled tacos in general but these hit the spot. Definitely do not overlook this truck! The menu is small and fairly simple but at the same time some of the best birria tacos I've had so far.

It doesn't get any better than this! I've noticed the birria scene in San Diego is getting crowded lately, but Papi's Birria stands out from the rest. The taste and service are unparalleled and the location (3030 Grape St. at the time I'm writing this) is quiet enough to not have to fight parking lot traffic jams in and out. Don't miss out. WARNING: DO NOT BUY FROM HERE! WILL SCAM YOU No prices listed which isn't a problem at first except when they DOUBLE your order cost after telling you a completely different one at the window. I checked their prices online after & it's around $5 a taco so how does 5 birria tacos come out to $75 on my account the next day. The employees around the surrounding bars have been warning others that they admitted to explicitly charging white people extra! Over charging on weekend nights and adding unauthorized tips. Disgusting business behavior. UPDATE: still no reply from company even after calling. Even if it was $7 a taco it still wouldn't come out to $75 on my account. After looking through more reviewers on here it seems this is a common practice amongst them to overcharge etc. read more

First of all, the service of this business is amazing. I was enthusiastically greeted by a well- mannered gentleman, and the energy exchange made my day! I ordered the Queso Birria Taco to-go. The order was made quick, and my first bite hit the spot! The meat was quality & flavorful. My tortilla was griddled to a perfectly, subtle crisp. It was delicious! I did, however, add the onion & cilantro at home. Not sure if it normally should be included or not. I'm stoked to have this food truck in my neighborhood, and I look forward to returning! First of all, the tacos themselves are great, but this review is about the business' ethics. I was told each taco was $7.50, so I ordered two and tapped my card. The guy says "you're good to go", and I replied "I don't have to sign or confirm the total?", to which he said "nope you're good". I thought this was odd but went with it. When I went to pick up my tacos I asked for a receipt to which the guy replied "you needed to ask after you ordered, but it's 7.50 per taco". I saw $17.78 in my credit statement which was red flag #1 because even with tax this is not the correct total. Red flag #2 was that after the charges completely cleared, the total was $21.78. I always tip, and I tip well, but I was not given an option to voluntarily tip. Whoever took my order tipped themselves without my permission, and that is theft. Again, the tacos themselves are great, but when it comes to the ethics of a business, this is not it. $4 in the grand scheme of things is not a big deal, but the principle is what matters. This is shady behavior, it's not legal, and does not reflect integrity. The night I ordered, the truck was parked at Hillcrest where there were a line of bars/clubs, I did not drink that night but I can see how this would be predatory for people under the influence. Cannot recommend this place because of something completely avoidable, a real shame losing business over $4. Don't sign off on transactions without consent, and don't purposefully deny a person's right to do so. Do better. read more

Eh , would've loved to tried the tacos and consume .. however after placing an order and receiving the quesabirria tacos they just weren't going to inform my husband they didn't have consume to go hand in hand with what they're selling . I understand running out of the tacos ( supposedly every single one at 10p exact ) but to sell quesabirria charge someone , give them their order , and then say " we don't have consume " is kind of shitty . SO GOOD! I've had birria from a lot of shops, but this is by far the best! You can taste the love that is put into their family recipe. The meat is tender and full of flavor and the consommé is a dream. Their rolled tacos are excellent too! This food truck has the best birria tacos, beef, papa rolled tacos!! They are big birria tacos with consomé for $5! I ate 2 quesa birrias and 5 rolled tacos LOL!!! They have plenty of parking space. They get super busy just be patience it's worth it! If you are in the national city area this place it's a must. The owners are very sweet and polite. read more

Came here 2 weeks ago to try there beef rolled tacos and birria. Both of them didn't disappoint. The meat on both the rolled tacos and birria is juicy and flavorful!. Came today to get the beef rolled tacos but they had tan out. The owner I am recommended me the potato rolled tacos. Came here and ordered the queso birria taco-which comes with consomé, beef rolled taco, and potato rolled tacos. The birria taco was soo good and the meat was tender and soft. I've had a lot of birria from other places but this one has so much flavor. They use fresh queso fresco on top of the rolled tacos which was different and they are generous with the cheese! New to the neighborhood and the birria tacos are fire... loved the Quesatacos, but I have to say that the potato rolled tacos are the best I've had in San Diego. Crispy and light.. a bit higher in price but the quality makes up for it. If you want cheap there's a taco shop across the street. If you want quality, freshness and delicious this is the spot. One word to describe Papis Birria- DELICIOUS. Let me tell you, the Birria tacos were amazing, fresh, juicy, the meat was so tender. I ordered the Birria taco with Cheese and one without cheese! Both tacos were magnificent! Along with the friendly customer service. I spoke with the owner and he's a hardworking individual with a great friendly attitude, and he's very welcoming. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Though not on the menu, I noticed a picture of ramen on the side of the truck and chose to order one. I could write paragraphs and still not say enough good things about it. The prices were definitely on the more expensive side, but I think that's to be expected for late-night, after-bar food. read more

I got the beef rolled tacos and it was packed with flavor! The meat was juicy and tender. I appreciated the generous amount of cheese on top. Easily became my new favorite place for rolled tacos! The owner was very kind and honest with his recommendations. I will definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu. The birria tacos are calling my name! If you're around PB and looking for some good food late at night or during the day you'll have to stop by! Came home late from a flight and one of the few places open after 11pm. I saw the food truck on Grand Ave in Pacific Beach and had to check it out. I ordered two Al Pastor and one Carne Asada tacos, the food was freshly cooked and had great seasoning/sauce. I got the Birria tacos (three of them), which I ordered like a five year-old (meat and cheese only). From the first bite, I was sold. I recommend going to the taco truck that's in front of Flicks instead of this one. Papis birria charged me around $60 for 4 tacos Last weekend !?? Then I heard from a friend at flicks that the employees go around bragging that they overcharge certain customers when they feel like it. Especially if you're drunk.
