I shared a California burrito with my sister and we were stuffed! It's huge and decently priced, cheaper than other places. The carne asada was nicely flavorful and tender. I didn't get much carne asada until one end though. It also came with lots of guacamole and pico but I wish there were more fries and that they were crispier. Colima's can forever take all my money! The women that work at the counter are so kind and patient. The food has been amazing. I will never be able to find anything comparable outside of SD. It's low budget and they're open 24 hours--what's not to like?! We always drive by and see Colima's poppin' with the drive thru line that overflows into the Main Street. We finally decided to give em a try during Taco Tuesday. They have $2 street tacos #love so naturally we had to get four carne asadas. This spot has a great menu to choose from. Waiting in the drive thru they have a large menu you can look at before a server takes your order. In addition to the tacos we also got the cali burrito. The food came with four different sauces- two types of red, a guac like salsa, and green. The containers are larger than others, so I'm happy I didn't have to ask for extra like usual. My partner and I came go Colima's on Christmas to enjoy some breakfast burritos! I am grateful for them working on a holiday, and their service was efficient. The space has a parking lot and lots of seating. There are TVs around where we watched the NBA game. We got our breakfast burritos after a few minutes of waiting, and they were overall fine. I felt the egg was a little dry, and used the salsa bar to help compensate. It needed more salt, but the size to price ratio was good. I want to see if their regular burritos were better! read more

Man have I been sleeping on Colima's. First visit was morning of New Year's Eve. The night before I was craving a burrito, but I was in La Jolla until the wee hours. Woke up with a hankering but didn't want to get dressed and remembered they had a drive-thru. Threw on a robe, loaded up my dog and off to Colima's. The drive-thru line was already packed into University. The friendly staff walked up to me with her iPad and took my order: 1 California Burrito please! Within minutes, she had it ready and delivered to my car before I reached the end. It was oh so good and hit the spot. Generous amounts of carne asada, fries, quac, sour cream, pico de gallo and cheese. Great value for portion too. Fast forward, I woke up from a late nap and was starving. Hit repeat (robe, dog, etc) but this time we got a San Diego Burrito + rice, Taco Tuesdays: 2 Carnitas, 2 Carne Asada. I liked how the tortilla is thin a toasted. I've been coming here at least twice a week for the past 8 years. Food has always been amazing, it still is. Service has always been amazing, until recently. I recognize all the folks behind the counter or work the drive through because I come so much, everybody is awesome, from Elmer to Frank to Carlos to Kim to Samatha, always made sure I wasn't missing anything I needed. The past few months however, idk what happened but they hired 2 ladies to work the drive through line and it's been the shittiest service Colimas has ever offered. Most of the time they only give me 1-2 salsa even if I order food for 3 people. One time she gave my food to someone else even though I have an orange car that's really easy to recognize, I don't even know how that's possible. The short younger one just shouts and don't even look at you while talking to you and cuts you off really aggressively like she's in a rush and really hates being there. Every dude at this place is an absolute bro, the ladies though, only Kim and Samatha ever provided good service. So if you go, just look for the dudes. read more

I've been hesitant to write this because I really hoped the bad was just a fluke. Now that I've been there a few more times, unfortunately it's not. Service: went thru the Drive Thru on 5/20. First off, the guys taking and delivering the orders attitude is off. They give the impression that they're doing you a favor by taking your order. No greeting, no answer to Thank you, just bad. Then, while I'm at the window, 3 cars behind me get their orders. I ordered a taco, enchilada combo plate and Jamaica. That's it. Nothing fancy or complicated. Food: Enchilada sauce was watery. Shredded chicken inside was ok. Tender, well-seasoned but had some tough parts, overcooked that I couldn't eat. Had to give to the dog. BEANS. Terrible. No seasoning at all. They were so bad, I thought I was sick and lost taste. Had my friends try them--wasn't me they were flavorless. Tastes like tbey were just boiled and mashed. WTH. If you can't even make beans, shut it down. That's a Mexican staple. Cheese on top of beans was also flavorless! The rice was good. A bit over salted, but good. Jamaica was good too. I'm very disappointed once again. I've come to this place so many times and they can never get my order right. I had called to place an order for pick up and asked if the caldo de pollo was bone in chicken but the lady had said they have a "chicken soup" which is shredded chicken so I asked if it had the same vegetable as the caldo de pollo and her answer was "i don't know" and didn't even bother to ask the cooks. Came and got the hashbrown breakfast burrito; it came with bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, egg, cheese and sour cream. I liked that it came with both sausage and bacon, the hashbrowns added a different texture than fries or breakfast potatoes, more crunchy than both options though I wish it was even more crunchy. There's a salsa bar with a good selection. You order as you enter at what looks kind of like a hostess stand. There are a handful seats inside but also a drive thru. They are located next to Olympic Cafe and share the same parking lot but be sure to check the stall as they are designated to each restaurant. My friend invited me out to some tacos and they were amazing guys. Huge portions (food did not eat first. Will take a picture on the next one) and great tacos. Their salsa bar is wonderful. A wide variety of salsa's, grilled onions and chiles curtidos. This is my second taco Tuesday I've been to and I've made the decision that this place is good. Our Uber driver recommended us this spot after a dodger vs padres game at petco park near our area we were staying in north park. We came a little after 10 pm and this is definitely a place to come after a game or late night of dancing! I ordered a California burrito - $11.49 (Carne Asada, Fries, Cheese, Guacamole, Pico De Gallo & Sour Cream). It was so good but since it was so late I only ate half of it. Had this as a late night snack a few weeks ago after a night out at the whiskey bar. I cannot stop thinking or talking about HOW GOOD the food is here!!!! It is legit! If this place was in North County, I would visit more often. I truly love their burritos here! The parking can get a bit tight but you can always go through drive-thru if you didn't want to park and dine-in. Drive-thru tends to be pretty packed on busy days so just be aware! The inside though is pretty spacious with some seating around. I came here once during the morning and there wasn't anyone around and I came here on a Thursday evening and it was somewhat packed but still lots of seating available. They have so many things on the menu like burritos, tacos, and more! I've came here for breakfast burrito or regular burrito and they've all been so good. They also got tons of sauces you can try out and some sides for free - definitely a bonus! Disappointed and Disillusioned. I normally love coming to eat here. I know they are normally busy, so I ordered ahead of time. When I got there, they had no more of the food I ordered. What made it worse, Colima didn't even try to make up for their mistake but to give a dish that I did not order. And wait for that dish after I've been already waiting. It's like they "gave up" and said "they can't do anything else." If you can't handle being so busy with the right order and treatment, then it's a fail.
