I tried golf as a teenager, and couldn't get the hand-eye coordination down. Don't kid yourselves, I still can't. I was designed to sit in front of an Excel spreadsheet, not stand in front of a golf tee. Stone Meadow Golf has completely turned everything on its head. Don't get me wrong, my hand eye coordination is still as real as the Loch Ness Monster, however the lack thereof is no longer as scary. Stone Meadow has a driving range and a 9-hole course. Both are priced very reasonably, and (at least for the 9-hole), equipment like a wedge, putter, and two balls. The course was very approachable and non-intimidating for a newbie like myself. The staff were also helpful and friendly. So, while I don't see myself becoming a person who holds for fun on his own, including owning one's own clubs, when my friends have an open invite for Stone Meadow, I will absolutely join them if I'm in town).

The staff was so friendly and helpful. Sean Tully helped us set up the entire site prior to our wedding. He made sure that the colored napkins were set up. He set everything up right where I wanted it. He helped with our ceremony backdrop space which wound up being a great photo booth prop. When I came in, the place was transformed into utter beauty. The dance floor is spacious and my guests really enjoyed themselves. This is a great place to hold an event.

I ended up getting the Western Omelet which is essentially eggs with vegetables. It came with a side and I asked if vegetables were available only to be told beans? I got the potatoes and a side of sausage to go with the omelet. Not to say it was a bad experience, but the healthier options are definitely lacking. The coffee was good. Playing this past weekend, we still required 5 hours to get through the round. We were constantly waiting for the group in front of us to hit, who were constantly waiting for the group in front of them. Conditions from tee to green were very good, except for the sand traps. I hope they have sand traps at the top of their must improve lost, because they need it. Many had the underneath lining sticking up through what little sand was in the trap. There were no rakes anywhere, maybe because there was little sand. Some cart paths have been repaired, but many are still in dire need of reworked they are rutted and breaking apart with tree roots coming through. They did build a brand new bridge over the Brook on #15, their signature par 3 hole. But the course still needs a lot of work to get back to its gloried past.

Course conditions are usually very good, especially considering the price point. The fairways roll nicely, and the greens tend to be well-kept and quick without being unfair. Pace of play can vary depending on the day, but overall it's managed well. Only reason I'm holding back that last half star is the clubhouse and food scene could use a little boost -- nothing bad, just nothing to rave about either. That said, the staff is friendly, the value is great, and I always look forward to coming back. Definitely worth a tee time.

I've heard complaints about the wait list but memberships are limited in order to save tee times for the public- so not sure why people are so upset! This is a nicely maintained, flat, easy, and fun golf course…read more - I had a nice time playing here - I played 17 holes (more on that in a minute) and did about as terrible as I usually do. But it's a nice course. - I wasn't sure what door to walk in when I arrived; the building is a nondescript white building with no signs. I walked in what I thought was the main door, but that took me to their restaurant. I had to walk through that to get to the pro shop. Tip: bring your clubs around to the left of the building - go around back. That's where the pro shop is. - I had seen online that they charged $22 for "unlimited golf after 3PM". The woman at the counter asked if I was walking or riding and I said riding and that I wanted to sign up for the "unlimited". She tells me the carts are only able to be rented for 9 or 18 holes. ??? So - essentially, the "unlimited" deal is only if you're walking. I had never been here before, and I usually take a cart when doing more than 9 holes, so I just said ok. It was $22 for golf, and $16 for the cart, for a total of $38. Which is all right for "unlimited/18" holes. - I started off on my own. The course is nice but not terribly interesting. Greens are very large. Traps are flat - sand is hard and you could putt out of them. But it's in nice shape. Heavily wooded. Tee boxes look nice. Greens are good. No yardage markers - not a one. I lost my GPS Golf watch so I was guessing the entire time. 6 iron? Wedge? Who knows? - The starter drove out to me in the middle of the first hole. He hadn't checked my receipt or something. He seemed ok. I saw reviews here saying he's cranky but maybe I caught him on a good day. - I caught up with some people and played with them. We had fun. At the turn, they left, and I continued on. A slow foursome was in front of me, so I skipped ahead one hole. Then a twosome let me play through - I asked if I could play with them (playing alone is boring) but they said I could play through and that no one was ahead of them. - The course is nice. And I had a good time. At the end of the round, the starter had parked himself between the last few holes and it felt like he was watching me. That was creepy. I had only played 17 holes and figured I'd drive out to some random hole and get 18 in. But it felt like they'd come get me for keeping the cart out too long or something. So, paranoia got the better of me and I turned in. - Beverage cart came around 4 times during my round which is very good. - The clubhouse is nice enough- standard golf course green rugs and light wood furniture. - So next time, I'll bring my walking cart, and expect some waiting if people are in front of me. Hopefully I get to play with some nice people again.

There were golfers everywhere, and on blind corners it was brutal. I was hit by an errant golf ball sitting in my golf cart sitting behind 7 golf carts waiting to shoot off hole 3. It took almost two hours by the time we hit the 3rd hole. We called the office to tell them after hole 2 and just as I was calling a line drive hit my kneecap. After coming into the clubhouse I was given a 3/4 refund, I asked about a voucher after showing him the welt (dimples still showing on my knee/leg) and was sneered at saying: 'it's a holiday, what do u expect?' Unsafe playing, Overloaded course, sleepy rangers not monitoring course play, cavalier golf course attendants. Only 1 point I will give us for fair rates. Rather play at better run courses.

I noticed that the atmospheric conditions there frequently caused my ball to land off center, but I've seen the same issue at other courses, I don't fault the management of the course for that. Overall the fairways and greens are well maintained, and it is a very affordable course.
