While I waited to hear back due to the person I needed the info being off, Boulder Home Theater reached out and said "Upon further consideration and review from the owner we are not comfortable putting a recessed box in that location. It's too much of a liability for us the scope of this project mainly for any tile damage and not knowing what's behind--and possible heat-leak up from the fireplace. If this was a normal standard drywall wall setup not above the fireplace, we would have no issues quoting that." This even before I was able to let them know what the materials and wall type were and it's an electric fireplace with the ability to have the heat turned off which I let them know prior to this response. If they can't even wait for my response on the materials or work with me on the install but just say you aren't worth the hassle, well that isn't a company I would want to work with when it comes to installing TV's. They were also priced higher before this then the numerous other companies I received quotes for. I had several jobs I was planning over the coming months but will take my business elsewhere.

We were then introduced to Brian who met us at the house when it was being framed and he began to provide us with suggestions. We enjoyed working with Brian and felt comfortable with his style so we moved forward. Brian is a dealer for Tru Audio products and Nuvo whole house audio systems. His recommendations for these products is where Brian made a couple of missteps. Brian recommended Nuvo without really taking the time to understand our music listening needs. We are Apple Music subscribers and Nuvo did not have a license to access this causing some initial frustration. However, let me be clear: Brian never once wavered from his commitment to ensure we were satisfied. He communicated with us properly and we ultimately chose Sonos as the proper solution. All Nuvo equipment was swapped out and we have been extremely pleased with the end result. The other misstep involved his recommendation for built-in subwoofers for the home theater in our finished basement. This was a recommendation from Tru Audio even though Sight/Sound had never installed these previously. It ended up being the wrong solution as these made the walls vibrate to the point where movies were unlistenable. Once again Brian stepped up and promised to make the situation right. He removed the subwoofers, paid to have the drywall repaired and replaced them with a standard cube subwoofer. We were left satisfied. Even with these mistakes, we are very satisfied with the end result. Brian's integrity along with the excellent service and skill of his installer Nathan made all the difference. They care about their customers and it showed in how we were treated. I would recommend Brian for all your sight, sound and security needs.
