Paradigm Gym Lakewood is not terrible, but after trying it for months and not getting into it, I switched to an equally nearby gym. The one I switched to has easier parking, easier 24 hour access, much more open space inside the gym, more machines, less oppressive music, for one tenth (1/10) the cost. Because of these factors (not easy to park, not easy to get 24 hour access, cramped space, minimal machines, heavy loud music, very wimpy infraed sauna, and very high cost) I cannot recommend Paradigm Gym. read more

just joined a few months ago, only good things to say about this gym. the trainers, connections, and overall staff and energy is amazing. low volume gym and people there are there to workout and so their thing. definitely worth the value and what you experience everytime you go. love paradigm !! read more

I was working out at LA Fitness on Greenville for about a year before I stopped in because I was looking to get away from the huge crowds and long waits for equipment. Brendan showed me around and was extremely welcoming. This place is gym heaven. I knew before the introduction tour ended that I was going to sign up here. This is an athlete's dream. Paradigm has top of the line equipment, weight sleds, tires, battle ropes, Airdyne bikes, stairmasters, rowing machines and everything else you could possible need for your fitness. You can use chalk and open up the garage style doors to work out on the sidewalk outside the gym. The sound quality of the music system here is amazing and they generally play pretty awesome stuff. The staff is extremely friendly and always greet me when I enter the gym. This place has an overabundance of positive energy and I'm super glad I signed up here. It's always extremely clean and well organized but you still get that hardcore gym feel. Everybody who works out here is extremely respectful and friendly. The one thing that impressed me the most here is that the Airdyne bikes have Tabata training intervals as a preset workout mode. I do Tabata workouts 2-4 times a week and it made me so happy when I saw the bikes already had it as an option!! Anyways, just do yourself a favor and check this place out. It is pricier than other gyms but you're still getting more than your money's worth. I look forward to my workouts everyday much more than when I used to go to LA Fitness. I stopped by to check out the facility. Its very small and not many people there so the energy is off. The facility is clean but when no one is using it that's expected. I wasn't too into the place but I spoke to Mercedes and she insisted I give it a try using the free 3 day pass. I came in the next day and Nate was working the front desk (although he wasn't there when I walked in.) I spoke to him about the pass and he said it was like $40-$50 bucks for it. I filled him in about what I was told and he couldn't care less. He said people were abusing the pass system so the owner cut it off. For anyone wondering what "abusing" a guest pass means- if people don't like the club or don't see the value then they don't join. Any club (this size) offering no amenities and not great parking but at the same time charging $170 a month shouldn't be. At the very least what would cause someone to join would be great customer service, which this place is lacking. **Also, I never came in after hours and "started pounding on the door to get in." I came in around 2pm. I'm certain now that the vibe I was sensing was discrimination.Really glad I didn't join. read more

The price point is high, but not for the location, the well-curated collection of equipment, and the availability of top-shelf personal training. I loveeee paradigm. It is a bit pricier than your usual run of the mill gym, but it is worth it for the level of service and care you receive, not to mention the amenities - you could probably live in the women's bathroom if you wanted to, haha. My only complaint would be that the music is sooooo loud - I prefer softer, background music when I'm working out because I usually have my earbuds in, and I hate blasting my own music because I can't hear it over hardcore rap playing from the gym speakers. My poor ears can't handle that much noise for an extended period of time. One time I asked an employee if it was possible to lower the volume, and you could definitely tell he was bothered by the request. he supposedly did so but I still couldn't hear my own music over the gym's music :( Overall, would recommend to a friend. Ambiance So this place is the type of gym that is more geared to trainers working with their clients. It's not huge, but has lots of special equipment, and has a very luxe/spa feel. In the rapidly gentrifying area of Greenville and Ross, this gym fits right in with shops like Toasted Coffee + Kitchen and Milk and Cream (which is where I will be going to celebrate a squat PR, btw) So because of the trainer-centric nature of this gym it reminds me of my time spent at The Studio or Diesel Fitness. But while The Studio feels a bit gritty, and Diesel feels a bit white-collar, Paradigm feels more cool, more luxe, more like an Equinox but without all the pretentiousness. I also have to mention that everyone who works here has been super friendly, welcoming, and courteous. I work from home so the gym is pretty much my only time to interact with people face to face, and everyone there makes the experience a pleasure. In the near future I can see my gym family starting to feel like a real family (I don't toss around the word "family" lightly). Layout This gym is divided into two separate sections. One side is the cardio area, filled with treadmills and rowing machines and some diabolical rope machines (the machine essentially allow you to climb a rope in perpetuity, very nasty). They also have clubs and maces, which is nice because now I don't have to bring my own set of Indian clubs. They have quite a few other machines that I've never seen before so I'm not sure of the proper terms but they were shown to me and they all seem like very legit ways to get one's sweat on. On the other side you have your strength training (what I call home). They have two squat racks, the fancy kind that have pull up grips and pegs to attach bands to assist with squats and deadlifts. They have all kinds of equipment that is designed to work your leg muscles while being easy on the knees and hips. So if you're like me and are a basic bastard when it comes to exercise (i.e., powerlifting) this place may be more than you need, but it's nice to have the option to do fancy dumbbell/unilateral/machine exercises if you want. It's also very nice for people that actually have lives outside of the gym and can't devote the time and effort for rehab/mobility work to get the joints back to working correctly. Having leg machines that provide a workaround for having a bum knee sounds like a great thing (also makes me grateful I have good knees). They have dumbbells that go at least up to 100, maybe 110. Locker room Wish my house was like this. This is where the luxe/spa feel really stands out. Everything is grey and white, with great tiling. At least in the men's locker room, there is only one shower, so it's possible that your schedule gets thrown off. The lockers are the nice ones that do not require you to bring your own lock. Instead they you set the combination and then lock it. They also provide aftershave and lotion and razors, just in case you forget anything. Extras This gym also has two very nice perks that I really appreciate: an infrared sauna and a styku body scan system. I must confess that I'm unfamiliar with the technology of the IR sauna, but I've tried it and it proved to be very effective on recovery. I was sitting in the sauna for like 10 minutes wondering if it was working and then suddenly I was drenched in my own sweat. A very unsual experience. Concerning the body scan, I think this is really cool stuff. You stand on a platform in front of the scanner and the platform rotates. The scanner seems to be uncannily accurate. It gives exact measurements of all kinds of parts of the body. For example, it showed that my left calf is about .8" smaller in circumference than my right calf (an unfortunate result of a spiral fracture of my fibula). As someone who really dislikes the monitoring of weight because it doesn't discriminate between fat and lean body mass, this is a great tool to show progressions, and the unfortunate occasional regression (we're all human). All in all, this is quite the gem tucked into the corner of Ross and Greenville. read more

She gave me a tour of the facility, checked me in, and I was on my way to work out. This gym facility is very clean - played great music, and the energy was endless. They have everything you want, and everything that you need. I wish there were more gyms like this, but that's what makes Paradigm Gym so unique. Since I moved back to Dallas, I struggled to find a gym that matches my needs and wants. Then I found Paradigm. I've been here about a month. If you're into traditional weightlifting they have it. If you're more of a circuit-workout type person they can accommodate you. Olympic style lifting, no problem. The place is kept above-average clean and organized. They even have lockers with built in locks. Friendly staff always greet me with a smile, and answer any questions that I might have. I've seen people from all levels of fitness working out here. PTs seem very involved with their clients. Lots of classes are offered. I haven't taken one yet, but I just signed up for one this week. I'll update later. read more

I was in town with a band at the Starplex Amphitheater and this gym was recommended. $30 for a day pass is more than I would pay at even the nicest Lifetime. That being said. It was clean and the equipment was new. Seemed like a weird combination of a Crossfit gym with some weights. Dumbells only go up to 100. I should have called first. The girl at the front desk warned me about the dayrate but by the time you factor in the uber as well, I wasn't going to go anywhere else. Just won't recommend it to any other crew or artists performing locally. read more
