Great gym. I was looking for a gym to help get into shape and a friend brought to me to a class over a year ago and I have been a member ever since. The gym has a mix of cardio, weights/lifting, and functional movement. I would say the variety of the classes is the best because sometimes you walk away feeling exhausted and others more just sore. There is a program That rotates every few months and has a certain theme , but for the new or casual gym goer you will Not get lost in the weeds because the coaches help or scale workouts to make it more approachable. The atmosphere is upbeat and positive . The gym hosts social events and tournaments which keep things interesting and fun. There are many class times and singing up and canceling is simple. I have been to a few group class style gyms in Dallas and by far this is the best. If can get to a few classes a week I almost always feel better in mind and body.Lastly, the instructors and in particular the owner Zach go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome and is getting something out of their workout. I joined Vickery two years ago and I am so grateful I did. I was at a very low point in my life and I was looking to get back in shape as well as work on my confidence in general. As someone who is very self-critical, and competitive with myself, I found the environment to be inclusive, friendly and non-judgmental....just what I needed/wanted. The workouts are well structured and easy to scale for all fitness levels. I love the mix of cardio, strength training, HIIT, movement exercises, etc. The owner, Zach, and the coaches are very helpful and knowledgeable which is something I was looking for because I tend to ask a lot of questions. They are happy to help you reach personal goals if you're like me and appreciate that kind of support and feedback. They are passionate about health and fitness - they often participate in the workouts which is encouraging when you're in the middle of a tough workout knowing that they've already been through it. I can't say enough good things about this gym and these people. It's also a bonus to have physical therapy available, on-sight. Jess is amazing and helped me with my hip mobility and recommended scaled movements specific to upcoming workouts (she is also a gym member which is awesome because she knows exactly what's going on in the workout cycles). Thanks to Vickery, I am in the best shape I've been in since college. I have to give Zach, Stefan, Rachel, and all the coaches credit for helping me get my life and confidence back. Vickery Athletics is not your run of the mill group-class gym. I have never experienced a gym with such perfect balance of high quality coaching, tight-knit community, sustainable programming, and wonderful atmosphere. While the flashy lights and aesthetics of other globo-gyms might be nice, they pale in comparison to the substance of Vickery's offerings. No other group class fitness gym has the coaching knowledge that provides a scale to an injured person or someone lacking the ability to do some of the scales. No other gym has the spirit Zach and the other coaches bring. It's not just a gym. This spot is amazing. The early am classes with Matt Renna are literally the highlight of my week. I am so grateful to Zach for hiring coach Matt. Side note, Matt is built like a Greek God. Not bad for morning inspiration. AND he's always rolling in with a Starbucks cup filled with a 5 calorie drink (not the crazy 20000 calorie desserts in a cup) -- so inspiring. The gym itself is super clean and the music is always fire. I wish Coach Matt would just sell his playlists. They are that good. If I could rent just Matt by the hour I would. Ok back to the gym. Super clean, super fun, and super flexible. They have payment plans for everyone. You can sign up and pay per class, or do an unlimited pass (can you imagine unlimited Matt in your life?). Hello, friends. When I moved from Austin last year it was a really tough time. I missed my last gym and was wandering around Dallas looking for something. I do not have the typical athletic body type but had lost over 140 pounds in the past two years and wanted to keep it up. I needed to workout for my physical and mental health. When you join Vickery you aren't just signing up for a gym. You're signing up for the whole experience. From highly knowledgeable and experience coaches to competing for imaginary Harry Potter points during our version of the cross fit open. I stumbled across this gym 3 and a half years ago and I couldn't imagine my life with out Vickery. It's the one thing that has stayed consistent in my life even when I wasn't coming to the gym consistently. The owner, the coaches, and the members have helped me through some of the toughest times in my life and I've come out the other side not only physically strong, but emotionally stronger as well. I joined Vickery in April of last year (2021) and can say it's been the best decision ever. I used to get bored at other gyms from doing the same workouts over and over again or not feeling like the instructors really had a plan for our workouts over a month to month span. That is totally different at Vickery. We do cycles of workouts and they're all meant to complement each other and I love that the coaches can give you personalized scales if you're not at a certain level yet. Most people who workout here have been here for years + so that is always a good sign of great coaching. This box is pretty great. You won't be disappointed when coming here. I frequent DALLAS a lot for work on the weekends and during the week and this is the place to go. Facility is very open, clean, barbells and weights are neatly stacked and put together. They have plenty of supplements if you want them/like them from fit aid and kill cliff to protein powders and recovery. There's two showers and bathrooms as well if you're in a rush after class. Coaches are super welcome and friendly, Jonathon and Zach are awesome. All coaches are extremely knowledgeable with form and skill and they are more concerned for you as an athlete with the basics and fundamentals than you throwing around heavy weight the wrong way. During class they are attentive to all athletes form and progress. I dropped in once and came back two weeks later and they remembered my name still. If you're someone who is just in Dallas for a couple days and needs a place to drop in come here! Great workouts and people. I've been running at a consistently high level since 2002, running in high school and college. I've had limited weight room exposure while running collegiately and beyond, under the ever mindful eye of a coach who doesn't want his runners getting too big. I've also got a strong background in biomechanics of forward human motion and have some anatomy background. However, I'm not an expert in any field by any means. Here's what stands out to me: CFDC are a fantastic group of individuals and coaches that put athlete development above all else. Each CFDC gym I've attended evangelizes a profound emphasis on doing things the right way and Vickery is no exception. I truly appreciate the attention to proper movement and efficiency to prevent injury. Bri and Zach have the athletic background, education, and commitment to help athletes succeed in ways that are immeasurable. Every day I leave the gym having accomplished something I never imagined I'd be doing. I'm stronger and more mobile than I've ever been. The encouragement and knowledge they both offer is second to none. It's like finding a great mechanic that knows your vehicle in and out and knows how to enable it to perform its best. I still run quite a bit and absolutely enjoy competing. The time I spend at Vickery Crossfit has only aided my endeavors outside the gym mentally and physically. If you're looking for constantly changing, intense but fun fitness regime, you can't do any better than Vickery. First - my background. I've been immersed in one sport or another for fifteen years. I have competed in skiing and rowing before, but am by no means a gym bunny. When I first considered CrossFit, I shopped extensively around the downtown/uptown area and tried many locations. While there are many solid gyms around, Vickery trumped the others with: 1. Coaches. Fun and personable; watchful and attentive. They instruct, re-instruct and re-re-instruct every movement as necessary. They take very balanced perspective on form vs. intensity, making sure your routine is down before you chip away at high resistance. Throughout the workout they circulate, check on everyone equally. 2. Routines. Planned in advance, coordinated and balanced. You never do the same workout twice, but the day-to-day order is not random. If one day you learn an olympic lift move, the next day you'll probably get a toasty calorie burner. 3. Levels. Vickery is one of the very few CrossFit gyms that offer two levels - a solid Elements course and the more intense Performance course. If you're new to CrossFit, Elements gives you an excellent workout while routinizing the moves. Once you want to do more barbell work, Performance is for you. 4. Location. Tucked near Cityplace, two blocks off 75. Seven minute drive to Uptown, Downtown, M-streets. 5. Access. Vickery is part of CFDC, so your membership also gets you into Henderson and Fondren locations. 6. Facility. Spanking new and fresh. Three showers for those who head straight to work. 7. People. The crowd is very friendly, polite and supportive. Age varies, so chances are you'll find your niche. 8. Size. Vickery is not a megagym. The space is smartly arranged and class sizes smaller than most CFs. Even as it grows, the crowd is very right-sized. 9. Results. Two months into Vickery, I've sweated away 2% in body fat and gone up a shirt size. Considering I was already relatively fit at the onset, that's no easy task. Started going to Vickery after attending a free Saturday work out and loved it. This was the first place I experienced the CrossFit community and this is such a great community. The coaches are above and beyond just cross fit and build athletes up from the basics.
