Marley had an eye issue right before the clinic closed for the 4th of July holiday but Penny was able to squeeze him in. Rushed him over and he was seen within minutes...eye was examined and medication prescribed for 7 days. Went back fro a recheck the following week and Dr. Nishimoto did a thorough check to be sure that his eye was completely healed...which it was, thank goodness Dr. Nishimoto has been my vet for decades and he & his staff have always provided excellent care for all of my fur babies...VERY GRATEFUL & APPRECIATIVE for all that they do read more

Friendly, professional service from start to finish. I adopted a senior cat from KHS who had so much trouble with her teeth that it was difficult for her to eat. I was able to book an appointment within a few days through the pleasant office staff. Following the initial appointment and the realization that she would have to have at least one tooth pulled, I was able to schedule the surgery the following week. The cat o got back was a "new and improved" version of the one I dropped off. Two days after her surgery, she is eating so much I can barely keep up. She seems happier and is more energetic than I have known her to be. I highly recommend Paradise Vet. As an added bonus, I feel the cost was very reasonable. read more

We've had four different cats who've been patients at Paradise Animal Clinic, and they've all received excellent care. The staff at the front desk have always been busy but friendly, the vet techs have taken good care of our babies, and Dr. Christine Nishimoto has been the best vet I've ever had the good luck to work with in the 30 years I've had pets. When one of our cats was elderly and began having serious health problems, Dr. Christine went incredibly above and beyond to try to help, more than once even skipping her lunch break to perform an unexpected procedure. She also deftly coordinated care with a specialist on Oahu. I trust Dr. Christine's knowledge and advice, but I am also grateful for her warm heart. She has been there not only for our pets but also for us when difficult decisions needed to be made. I can't recommend her highly enough. In the past it was sometimes difficult to get through to the office on the phone, but recently they seem to have started using a new answering service and that seems to have fixed the problem. I know vets on the island are expensive, but in my opinion Paradise Animal Clinic has been worth it for the well-being of our pets. read more

My husband and I are both veterinarians and who practice in California. A stray kitten "adopted" us at our home here in Po'ipu and we fell in love. We wanted to get him neutered, vaccinated and microchipped so that he will have a safer life here since we can't take him home with us. Dr.Christine and her staff were wonderful. They fit him in on relatively short notice and they were so professional and kind. They were able to handle our semi-feral friend easily and got him all taken care of. Their prices were very fair and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. It felt weird to be the client in this situation since we are used to being on the other side of the transaction, but Paradise Animal Clinic made it all very smooth and pleasant. I highly recommend Dr Melissa Shaw. My cat visited with ongoing ear issues. My poor kitty saw 2 other doctors in recent months who didn't catch her actual problem. My kitty is old and was suffering. Now after seeing Dr. Shaw who also caught an infection in her urine, my kitty is doing so much better. She has energy and her ears are healing. Just so impressed. It's difficult to find a good doctor on a small island. I had sent my husband with a note and my babies, and she was also kind enough to write a detailed note in return. Paradise Animal pet clinic is Awesome! Vets aren't cheap Period! Its like Family/Divorce Attorneys you get what you pay for and no matter what you are going to pay one way or another. So.... its up to you. I have a 1 1/2 yrs old 140lb Fila Brasiliero Lincoln, he's my baby. I have been taking him there since he was a puppy. The Vets and entire staff all loved him and made sure his office visits weren't traumatizing or caused him any undue stress. He loved going there, even when he started to be a little dog aggressive (which he out grew) they always took into consideration his breed and size. They never scheduled us with other aggressive dogs and always made sure that all pets were safe to come and go utilizing both entrance and exits. This is huge when you have a large breed dog and a busy office. He has had everything from shots to getting his nails clipped without Any problems what so ever. They were always patient not to freak him out meaning he went to the vet office like we were going to see friends and family! We recently moved from Kauai to California. This is an experience in itself! Paradise animal clinic make this bullshit process way easier than if i had to figure it out by myself. Its a lot to do and they've done it and helped above and beyond their job duties cause they care! They helped with the paperwork with what and what not to do and offering advice from their experiences. ( you can listen and take and use what you think will work for you) Got all the certifications and rabies shot and paperwork required for Lincoln to travel. The flight over went without any problems at all and Lincoln was fine when i picked him up at cargo. Im writing this cause I live far away from the nearest vet and believe or not when I called paradise animal clinic they were very very helpful. They remembered Lincoln of course and was concerned about what was wrong with him (not sure if they remembered me) I googled and YouTube to find out everything i could before calling. Everything I read said see a vet and maybe see a vet and finally see a vet. Really? Anyways, I'm not sure what happened but I think Lincoln hit his balls on the babies bed safety rails trying to climb up there!?!? They were red kinda pink yesterday but not swollen cause he always had big balls! Today they are a little bit swollen but way more chafed and not so much peeling like this morning cause he keeps licking them. Paradise animal clinic was so understanding of my situation with the nearest vet and Lincoln's condition. I did exactly what they advised. They took the time to figure out how much benadryl to give him(its online) and what to do and what to watch for. The benadryl definitely helped cause he stopped licking even before i could make a makeshift cone from a lamp shade to keep him from licking and making it worse. Of Course, Like all good vets they advised me to seek professional medical attention asap! I wanna thank Paradise animal clinic for everything they have done for me and especially Lincoln. Maybe someone will read this and develop this kind of special relationship with your vet. They are like family to us. And I really don't give a shit what people think or believe. Recently moved to Kauai with our two year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix and needed to get in to see a vet to get an updated heartworm prevention prescription and meds for an ear infection that had developed. Paradise was able to see our pup the same day we called and they were very nice and welcoming to us and our pooch. Dr. Imamura was great and the only vet our pup has ever laid down and been 100% calm for. Probably had something to do with that pocket full of treats! We got lots of information on different options for heartworm prevention and ended up finding a product that fit our budget and our dogs needs. Overall great visit, nice staff and knowledgeable doctor that went to school in our home state of Colorado. I would definitely be comfortable taking our pup back for any further needs. Also, there are signs all over the office and in the exam rooms, but payment is due before you leave the office, so make sure to ask for an estimate of pricing if you don't want to be surprised at the end of the visit. We found the prices to be very similar to what we paid for vet visits in Colorado so there were no surprises for us, but if you are worried, just ask! read more

Dr. Nishimoto is the best! We also respect and experience how much his staff cares and they are on it! The whole staff treat our animals with love. Our cat began getting fluid around her heart and lungs six months ago atwe thought we were going to lose her. Dr. Nishimoto brought in a specialist from Oahu to do an echocardiogram and she sent the results to a cardiologist in Texas! Dr. Nishimoto is a collaborator and the prescription drug regimen has prolonged our cat's life~ she runs around with our other cat, enjoys a variety of foods and it is obvious she is happy to be alive! paradise clinic has no companion for dogs. they're assistant vet nurses are rude and only care about the payment plane. my dog had swallowed a 4/0 size hook following a 6 ounce lead which were both attached by a small fishing line. they would not let us pay later or anything know that our small boy had swallowed something that can rip all his insides if thrown up or pooped out. they have no hearts and are cruel, they only care about the money. we were worried and asked if they could do anything the lady in there looked at us weird and disgusted and said "so if you guys dont have a payment plan you need to take him somewhere else. there is no other vet willing to help and let us pay later. this world is cruel, if you don't have money you don't have anything. he could die and they have no care or worry in the world knowing that there job is to save animals lives. unreal, do not take ur animals here. read more

When your under a lot of stress and worry because of your fur baby sick or injured it's a lot to handle.. but when I went to this clinic I knew I was in good hands! When making an apt on the phone they can sound rude and almost like they don't like their jobs but when I got there it was a really good experience with the vets! The lady vet we had seen was very kind and thorough with explaining my dogs health and knew what was happening. They also were very patient with my nervous small dog who barked and possibly tried to snip at the assistant oops (he normally doesn't bite but was extremely scared) when they were going to stick the thermometer in his behind lol. They did have to put a small muzzle on him afterward but the handling and patience of the vet and her assistant was really amazing. We came here for the first time and it was awesome and also the price of the services are decent compared to the vets we've been seeing on Maui. For the airlines, we had to get a heath certificate for him to board the plane, basically making sure he is bug free and healthy enough to fly, Which he is. We had a good experience, our dog is on the skittish side, especially towards men and doesn't always act so nicely. The vet step back and let his assistants take care of our dog and let him slowly get comfortable. As i would expect from a vet, he was very patient and his goal was to aim to make our dog comfortable. I felt like the price they charge us was a little on the higher side of reasonable but not bad. Today I ask for the clinic to perform a nail cut for my dog Red with sedation. Red had this done at the clinic less than 8 months ago with a wellness examine (cost $170.00). Today I ask for the same nail cut with sedation, do to her nails grow so quickly with the quit or under growth nail extending the entire nail bed. I been taking Red there for 14 years. The clinic stated I need to have another wellness check done before they can perform the procedure ($170.00). I ask why?They stated that the doctor must do this to see how well is the dog to give the shot. Really!!! Red is 14 years old with a wellness check less than 8 months old. This is just another way that they milk you for money. I will not use this clinic again and recommend others do the same. read more

Not a great place to bring your animals. May have been at one time, way back when, but not now. Very, VERY expensive and no follow-up. Recently moved from one side of the island to the other and wanted to find a new vet since old one was 45 min drive away. Went to see Dr Nishimoto with a sick cat. His exam doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, no communication, and he has no "bedside" manner. Left the cat there for tests and came back to a whopping $535 bill! No estimate given before I left and no call to make sure I even had that kind of money. One test had to be sent to mainland for results. Never got a call from Dr Nishimoto with results. After a week of meds cat no better so I make the 45 min drive back to old vet, they ran same tests for $210 and did not have to send out for the one test, got results right away. AND they give estimate before they do the tests so you can decide. Guess I'll be making the 45 min drive from now on. read more

Veterinarian forces you to use his pharmacy to obtain your pet's medications. I don't know how this is legal in the state, especially since there are a limited number of veterinary clinics on the island. It's a conflict of interest and benefits the office more than the patient and the consumer. They cite "product potentially being unsafe in the black market and the doctor does not believe in using outside pharmacies." Costco is not getting their product from the black market and how do we know this clinic isn't either? People please know that you have a right as a consumer to question their practices and get the best price for your pet's medications. Forcing someone to use the facility's pharmacy to get medications would not be legal if it were an MD doing it to humans. read more

Then left room after three minuets /$55.00, xray $189.00, blood test $215.00 Over $560.total ...Asked is my cat dying. Well we should do some more test after cat is rehydrated.. I live in Kalaheo and wanted to be with a local vet. First off, the office staff seems more interested in talking in the back office than dealing with the clients. They will NOT write you a prescription...you must buy them through the doctor. I brought my dog in because she was starting to scratch herself and I thought it could be an allergy...not fleas. The doctor gave her a rather cursory exam, told me it was an allergy (with no testing) and put her on Apoquel. There was never a follow up call. She started to exhibit some strange behavior, not just being sleepy but cranky, which is not my dog. I found out from my own research the medication did well with allergies, but really there is no knowledge of what long term apoquel use may do. I asked a friend for a recommendation and now take my dog to Dr. Palawa at Kauai Veterinary Clinic. She took tests, found out it was yeast related allergy and we are starting slow with lots of medicated baths and benadryl to get it under control and hopefully, she will never need Apoquel. Paradise was uncaring, money oriented and with poor customer service. Not for my dog! read more
