Hidden gem in the sea of lunch spots in Mira Mesa. We called in our lunch order ahead of time for takeout. I wanted to try the ghormehsabzi stew, but they let me know that they only have it available on Tuesdays. As it was a Wednesday, their special for that day was tahchin with chicken ($20). I have never tried tahchin before but it was lovely. It's similar to tahdig in that it is a rice dish with a crispy bottom, but is binded with eggs and yogurt. The dish was a bit heavy on its own, the side salad with yogurt dressing was absolutely necessary to add a little freshness to the large portion of rice. I enjoyed a tasty Kobideh Kabob Wrap from this Middle Eastern Eatery. The wrap came with a single flame grilled ground sirloin kebab, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and parsley, and a tasty homemade sauce. You can choose between lavash or pita bread. I had the lavish and the meal also came with a side of what looked and tasted like tzatziki sauce for $12.99 plus tax. The sirloin kebab was well seasoned and offered a very good beef flavor. It was also tender. The house sauce in the wrap was delicious and so was the yogurt sauce on the side. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were fresh. The area the wrap needed improvement was the lavish bread. It was cold on arrival, so not only was it cold but had a slight dry texture. The wrap after it has been wrapped spending thirty seconds on each side would have made a huge difference. The service was super friendly at the counter. The owners are a husband and wife duo that are so sweet and welcoming. I love to come here for lunch and dinner. They also offer catering trays which are very popular. This hidden gem is by far my favorite Persian / Mediterranean food. They really know what they're doing and make the every dish as you order. Every bite is so delicious and can tell it's made with pride. I love that it's a family company and they give you that home cooked taste. Paradise Kabob has taken over the former space of Pauly's Pizza Joint which has moved to an end corner suite in the Miracrest Plaza that used to house a Subway. The words 'Persian Kitchen' hung beneath the marquee sign so I stopped in recently to check out this new Middle Eastern cuisine eatery. There were about half a dozen tables for dine-in seating. A menu screen hung on a wall to the left of the service counter, but it was easier to look at one of the take-out sheets. Appetizers and wrap sandwiches were listed on one side while the other side featured entrees, salads, and specialty stews. The last category looked intriguing, however my taste buds weren't adventurous enough. The Kabob Mix Plate #2 was my choice. Shish kabob and boneless chicken kabob were the proteins that were served with basmati rice, grilled tomato, onion, parsley, and a salad. The cubes of chicken were some of the juiciest I have tasted at any restaurant so kudos to the chef. I preferred that meat over the filet mignon chunks which was probably a first for me. What I would like to have seen for this combo was less rice and the addition of a spread like hummus or baba ghanoush with some pita bread. That would have elevated this plate to match the $27 price tag. The service from the staff was fine. The business will need to advertise to let the public know they are operating now because this plaza has numerous dining choices, not to mention competition from other spots along Miramar Rd. read more

The location is in a tightly packed shopping center right across from where Tenkatori is and the space is a bit small but feels comfortable and cozy for dine-in. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife team from what I understand and they are both very personable and welcoming. They take online and phone orders which is convenient and they keep the interior of the restaurant very clean. The Koobideh Kabob plates and the Ghormeh Sabzi are what I have ordered most often and they have both been exceptional each time. The Koobideh is seasoned and grilled just right and the Ghormeh Sabzi tastes fresh and is not overly oily which is a common problem in a lot of places. This is by far the best Persian food you can find in San Diego, not even a question. You would be surprised at its location though, between a liquor store and an Asian restaurant but do not let that fool you. This restaurant has the *best* Persian food. We usually get the Zeresh Pollo with our lunch or dinner plates and choose the filet and chicken kebobs, I am not a huge fan of khoobideh in general but if there is one place I would consider eating it, it is here. On a side note, Persian cuisine is so much more than kebabs and rice. Try their stews if you want to really be blown away at the flavors it can pack. They have specials on weekdays for stews and I highly recommend it. Further to the food, the establishment is clean, run by a husband wife team that keeps things tight, neat and clean and the quality is *never* a hit or miss, something rare for a restaurant. I just wish they were in a more visible location so the word can spread faster. I have eaten at some of the best Persian restaurants and home cooked Persian food in LA and SD, and I can tell you with some certainty- this is as good as it gets!
