This halal middle eastern restaurant is known for its authentic Persian dishes, and the restaurant specializes in Kabobs and flavorful wraps served with fragrant basmati rice, fresh salads, and zesty sauces. I had the chicken kabob plate which was flavorful and good, as well as the Persian tea. I was lucky to meet Naseem and she was warm and friendly and gave such kind, attentive service. This charming eatery also makes and serves fresh made desserts. We visited during a Friday lunch hour at 12:35. This place was busy with most tables filled. A good sign for a restaurant. We ordered from the kiosk and helped ourselves to water and found a table outside. When the food arrived, most people left and we moved to an inside table. I ordered 2 beef kebabs with salad only. It was quiet on a a Monday early evening and while the space was warm from the low sun, Naseem's greeting was even warmer, as she explained what was still available after a busy day. Partner had the lamb plate and I had the combo. The screen to order from allowed easy customization for dietary restrictions and preferences. The food came fairly quickly, was beautifully plated and was really delicious. The lamb and beef tasted distinctively like lamb and beef, along with the well done spices in the kabobs. The rice was soft, delicate and fragrant and I particularly liked the house dressing on the salad. She brought us a complimentary small plate with two cookies for desert, a rice cookie with butter and poppy seeds, and a chickpea cookie with vegan ghee. It's a cute, small place and they definitely get pretty busy during the lunch rush. Staff was nice and moved quickly to get everyone's orders in. I got their plate with a chicken kabob and lamb kabob. The veggies in my salad did not taste fresh, the rice had absolutely no flavor to it whatsoever, my lamb was very dry and bland, and my chicken was dry and half burnt. Love this place for a quick lunch. I usually order the chicken and beef combo plate. The meats are juicy and flavorful, not as chunky as some of the other middleastern restaurants but great for lunch. The combo usually comes with rice and a salad and has always been consistent in flavor. Naseem also makes some crazy good desserts like puff pastry fresh in store daily. This is by far the worst Persian food I've ever had. I wasn't expecting the portion size to be so small but for 15$ it's not too bad, especially with inflation. But the chicken and beef kabobs were so dry and hard to slice it didn't feel like I was eating food. The rice was also very hard and grainy. There were no side condiments given such as the herbs/onion that usually comes with Persian food or sumac to add to rice. I only ate the food because I was starving but unfortunately I didn't enjoy it at all. I'm Persian so I know my Persian food and this place is an embarrassment to Persian food. If you're compelled to come here because the price looks good, it's not worth it because the quality of the food is terrible. read more

Naseem's is located in Sorrento Valley across from Qualcomm in a little center with a few restaurants on Pacific Heights Blvd. We first discovered her food when I was pregnant with our son nearly 6 years ago and our doctor's office was located nearby. We live in Vista now, but the kebabs here are so worth the drive! Naseem and her little cafe will always be so special to our little family. She is such a warm, kind person and you can see how hard she is working and taste and feel the love she puts in to her food. Simple menu of kebab served with rice plates or in a wrap, and it's some of the best around town (don't need no fancy downtown $40 kebab when this is perfection!!) She serves tea and coffee, and if you're lucky to get your hands on them before they sell out, she makes amazing fresh baked cream puffs too! Chicken Kabob Plate- Delicious! Salad was crisp perfectly dressed in a house-made creamy-mayo sauce. Rice was fluffy, delicately and partially seasoned with saffron. Chicken tasted fresh, perfectly marinated (not too long or too short), moist, with a bit of char. It came with a 2oz side of hummus and charred juicy tomato (my favorite). We split the plate, but I could honestly eat a whole one myself. Polished off with a light, also delicious, melt in your mouth house-made cream puff with an elevated cool whip flavor. A specialty of Naseem's. Note: We arrived upon opening, possibly the first guests. We were the only guests, so I'm sure the chef was able to take more care into preparing our meal. This is hands down my favorite place EVER for Persian style food. It is a small little hole in the wall restaurant that gets absolutely packed during lunch hours. Eat in or Togo, the food is always amazing. I've gotten both the chicken kabob plate and the lamb kabob plate. Their chicken is never dry and always flavorful. But, I always go back to the lamb kabob plate! This is the place to go for well seasoned, juicy, and tender lamb kabobs! You can see them grilling it through the window in the back. It comes with a perfectly charred tomato, a side salad, and a great serving of rice. If you're getting food for Togo, be sure to ask for sumac!! Sprinkle some over your rice and it's a guaranteed game changer. If you have a sweet tooth, definitely order one of their giant cream puffs for a light and airy dessert. Ghormeh Sabzi (beef stew): herb stew that has parsley, leeks or green onions, cilantro, dried fenugreek leaves. Super fragrant stew, there's not a lot of meat in it but a lot of flavors for sure. Instead of salad, there's more rice. Chicken kabob plate: the chicken and grilled tomato flavors are great, but I think it would be even juicier/tender if the chicken was out of the heat 1 minute less. Portions are a bit smaller but I feel the prices justify. You can always add another skewer for at least $4. spicy sauce is $0.50 each. I've had their famous cream puff on another occasion. This is the worst persian food I ever had. This was supposed to be a very famous dish called ghorem sabzi (meet and fried vegetable) Of course, this was a vegetarian version, and I knew it did have a meat But it is included in a cup of rice, a few spoon of pinto beans, and a few peaces of tofu, all for $18. These ingredient costs are less than a few dollars to make. The point is it was very tasteless, missing dry lemon and missing the main ingredient of lots fryed vegetables. It was atake out. I really wanted to like this place. The food is very tasty but overpriced. I asked about gluten and soy because of allergies and they assured me neither were used. After eating my throat started swelling and I asked a second time about gluten and soy and was told by the teenager behind the counter "oh our salad dressing is mayo-based." Umm, that's soybean oil! I had a vegan lunch here, they make all their sauces fresh including their hummus. I like their staff, they actually work at this place and put their heart and soul here. I've been here a few more times since my first review and I can say that service was better. A lot nicer, calm, and more observant. The food however, it's still okay. The first time I ordered the Lamb and this time I ordered the beef and I'm just as disappointed that it's all ground meat. With a lot of rice. The rice tastes delicious and buttery but it's a little basic. Unless you request more, your kabob meal is simply ground meat and rice with a side salad. And with a total coming out after tax to 10$ and some change.... I wish there were more. The wraps are really good. I tried one and it was a little better and very flavorful. Came here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I wanted the beef kabob plate, but they were sold out, so I went with the chicken instead. Perhaps it was a mixed blessing that the beef was sold out, because the chicken was fantastic! This was probably one of the best chicken kabobs that I've ever had! Unlike other "Mediterranean" establishments that serve overcooked and dried out chicken bits, this was immensely flavorful and moist. Next time I'll have to save room for one of their cream puffs. If I ever go back to that part of San Diego (Mira Mesa), I am definitely going back here! It's near a lot of business buildings but in the plaza it's located, there are a lot of restaurant variety! As soon as you walk into this place, it feel so inviting, and intimate. It's not big but enough to make you want to stay. The lady who helped us, was extremely nice, warm and friendly. I think they have a big lunch rush but during dinner time it seemed to be a little slow. We got the (2) spring salads-- and you can put any type of meat, chormeh sabzi stew. I wish we had room to try their pastries because it looked delicious. Without any meat, the spring salad is 6.99 and their portions are BIG! The ingredients tasted fresh and amazing. I had left over and it still tasted great the next day! I had an americano to go and it was good-- not the best but hey, it was good enough for what I needed! Has a family business vibe with the ownership; the lady I spoke with was both periodically on the register and let me know that she makes up doogh from scratch every morning! Yummmmm! So I found the people working there friendly. The ambiance is nice but it's fairly small on the inside. I think for most purposes it's fine but I can imagine that during peak hours (lunch, given the location), you may not find seating so easily. No zereshk polo though :( I love barberries in my rice and sadly they do not offer it here. Chicken kebob was decent and very filling. Rice was perfectly cooked, chicken seasoned well, and the salad was fresh. My friend got the lamb and it looked very tender (didn't taste it). They were pretty fast so I imagine it works well for all the Qualcomm folk in the area! It took me all of 5 seconds to take down that cream puff.
