They made the trek out to Hanalei in the very early morning so we could take family photos with our baby girl. He was patient with our grandchildren and very good at giving them directions. Shipwreck Beach at sunset is a beautiful location. The color of the sky, clouds and ocean changed as the sunset. Some photos are taken with us in front of Shipwreck Beach; some have all of us sitting on a huge piece of driftwood; in others photos, he had us standing in front of the ocean. Some of the most precious photos are taken with our grandchildren running into and out of the ocean. He was able to capture the different personalities in our family. The bottom line: If you want a photographer as relaxing and mellow as the vacation you're on in Kauai, and that will also capture amazing moments that no tripod is capable of, then Michael is your go-to. Michael was punctual, super easy to talk to and really good with communication. He photographed our family of 8, which included grandparents (Celebrating their 40th anniversary), our family of three (two year old son celebrating his 2nd birthday), my sister and brother-in-law, and my sister. He was very attentive, offered good direction, and great suggestions for all types of shots to where everyone got their own little session with him, but still kept us all engaged. We didn't feel pressured at all to get done quickly, or that feeling of "I wish I would have had that one shot!" In fact, it was the complete opposite. Michael basically took photos of us until the sun was gone and we said "Okay, I think that's it." My now-fiancé secretly hired Michael to capture our proposal in Kauai, and we could not be happier with the beautiful portraits he captured of one of the best memories of a lifetime. My now-fiancé and I were taking a walk on a beach when he asked whether I wanted a photo together. We have paid considerably more for professional photos on our previous visits to Hawaii and while the pictures were similar quality, the professionalism is not. Our family was so comfortable with Michael and it's because he made us! He would give little suggestions here and there and that made the difference in how we posed for the pictures and reflected in the final product. Truly special.
