Paradise Village - Ashford, WA I stayed in one of the Tiny Cabins with a private bathroom and, speaking purely from a single-occupancy perspective, it felt surprisingly spacious. High ceilings, big windows, and tons of natural light with a beautiful wilderness view. And before anyone worries--yes, the windows have solid blinds when you actually want to sleep. The bed was huge and very comfortable. My room had both a coffee machine that made legitimately good coffee and a fancy electric tea pot... which I now want for my house. Anyway. The modern heater made it easy to dial in whatever temperature I wanted, which I appreciated. Inside the cabin you've got a kitchen sink, shower, mini-fridge, and yes--a fancy toilet (worth mentioning). Everything felt clean, modern, and thoughtfully laid out. The grounds themselves are really nice to wander, and the location doubled as a gorgeous wedding venue for my cousin. I'd absolutely recommend Paradise Village both for a quiet getaway and as a wedding venue. Peaceful, comfortable, and well done. read more

We arrived with another family and booked a double queen room along with a king room that had a pull-out bed. Upon our early arrival, the staff graciously allowed us to check in an hour ahead of schedule at no additional cost. If you are considering reserving the hot tub, I highly recommend it; the experience is both unique and enjoyable, and the staff respected our privacy, making us feel as though we were in a secluded village. It was a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable time. The accommodations were comfortable, and we were fortunate to have a room adjacent to our friends. We spent quality time together in one room while the children watched a movie in the other. The room was very quiet- we all slept very well. In the morning, we relished the crepes, and the accommodating staff were very understanding of our energetic children, demonstrating their genuine fondness for kids. We booked the cabin just one day in advance for my husband's birthday and it was such a wonderful experience! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. The nature was beautiful - there was a family of elks nearby and lots of birds. You could see the stars at night. The cabin was so clean and the bathroom (shared) was amazing with the heating inside at all times. I couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate my husband's birthday! In addition to eating (a lot) of the delicious options, we also ended up staying here for a couple of nights. They have 12 or 14 different room options, most of which are big enough for 4 to 6 people. We grab one of the family rooms which has a couple of beds, and it was perfect. There is plenty of room for I do kids to spread out, they had a good size TV and all of the rooms appear to be newly renovated. Each room also had a small refrigerator, microwave and a coffee maker, all of which made it easier to get going in the morning. The shower head bathroom we're not real large, but we're big enough for their intended purposes. The heating within the rooms was done by radiant heaters, which was kind of cozy, but also it was also something we were not excited about leaving on overnight. We brought a couple of extra big blankets, and since we were visiting in March, that ended up being a good call. The big attraction was obviously the cannibal hot tub, and it lived up to expectations! This thing is probably the coolest hot tub we've ever sat in, and is certainly the only one that was heated by a fire underneath. There are large rocks inside of it that you're able to stand on and a big water spout the pumps cold water into it when everything gets warm. We noted that after about 5 to 10 minutes of heating up, everyone would get out and that was the cue to put cold water in and cool things off. It not only made for a relaxing evening, but also was great for the story and the associated pictures. It is worth repeating that you have to book the hot tub separate from your hotel reservation. We ended up sitting in there for about 1 1/2 hours, though an hour with plenty for just about everyone. This was a great spot with a unique attraction, unique food and proximity to Rainier national Park and paradise. We shot up to Paradise for a couple hours, and then had a relaxing evening in the cannibal hot tub. It was about as cool of an experience as we could've hoped for. This is a spot that we will absolutely be back to and will be telling friends about! read more

I'm writing this review based off just the room. We unfortunately weren't able to make it to the hot tub or sauna. After dining in the exquisite restaurant I had high hopes for the hotel portion. We stayed in one of the main building units and unfortunately we were let down. The rate we got was $250 a night for a $100 a night quality room. First off I do not recommend bringing children here. Is this place family friendly? Absolutely. It's the arrangement and construction of the room is where it gets you. After discovering the paper thin walls, the uncontrollable room temp, and the plethora of noise coming from outside our daughter could not go to sleep for hours and it was driving us up the wall. Other than that it's a simple cabin room with the essentials. I will say the heated floor in the bathroom is a nice touch. The shower was also very spacious and had great water pressure. Is this place worth coming back to try again? Honestly I'm not sure. I guess time will tell. read more

The owner didn't think two guests canceling days in advance because of contracting COVID was a good enough reason for a refund. If an owner is inflexible to people who contract COVID, then they seem fine with putting employees and guests in danger. When my partner and I tested positive, I attempted to get ahold of the person in charge of Paradise Village Hotel. The staff apologized ahead of time about how stubborn the manager/owner was going to be about a request to cancel my reservation for a room and a hot tub reservation. I was surprised when the owner offered me a credit for my room. But he said no refund for the hot tub. Seems like the last place you want COVID-positive people to be. After further e-mail exchange, he refunded me for the hot tub. *Phew* but... Months later, I was denied when I attempted to redeem my room credit. The owner told me I had got my refund for the hot tub reservation INSTEAD of the hotel room. I went back to check our e-mail exchange, and I had been duped. The language was just vague enough. I would not recommend doing business with a person who seemed fine if two people hopped in the hot tub and patronised their hotel with COVID because he refused a refund. read more

Overall negative experience. The floor and towels were dirty. Thin walls lacked insulation, it took a very long time for the room to get warm. We had no running water (hot or cold) until 11 pm at night. Additionally, we had planned to soak in the outdoor hot tub in the evening but the temperature was expected to drop to the 10s (in Fahrenheit) so we decided against it (my mom is older, I was concerned it would be too cold). After a call days prior, two emails and two in person requests once we arrived to cancel the $95/hour hot tub appointment due to the temperature drop, we received no written confirmation about the cancellation. They verbally and dismissively told me they would take care of it but they haven't taken any action as of yet and I haven't gotten a refund. Borderline rude service, particularly from one of the younger lads. He wasn't properly trained and didn't know how to check us in-- after we told him we were here to check in, we had to remind him again after an hour and by then he had forgotten. I had to speak to an older gentleman, who was more helpful. The only positive thing is its location, as it is minutes away from Mount Rainier National Park. I suggest staying elsewhere. This was unfortunately the low point of our entire vacation. read more

Not nice looking on the outside. We stayed here July 2, 2020. Check in time is at 3, so we went to mount rainier first. We got to the hotel around 5:30pm only to find out our room wasn't ready! We were offered free tea while we waited. We decided to just go ahead and have dinner. We ordered the burgers and fries. Average. We ordered lemonade which tasted more like cranberry juice. When got to our room, it was very tiny. Not what the pics said we were renting, and definitely not worth $135 a night! The bed was so close to the wall on both sides that you couldn't even walk sideways! The one good thing about this place was they staff was very nice! read more

Two stars is being generous but the tiny cabin/trailer was cute so I'll give it that. HOWEVER there are shared bathrooms (unisex so that's always pleasant) and the real problem was that only 2 out of the 4 were operational. Standing outside at 10:30pm to use that bathroom was not fun. The grounds were also under construction, a mini cement mixer in front of the bath and active work going on at a few buildings. The icing on the cake was the 2nd night we came back from hiking and the bee keeper was out (there is a large hive in a bldg adjacent to the trailers) and those bees were riled up. Could not go outside as I am allergic to bees (did I mention the bathrooms were across the yard). This went on for over an hour and a half. We'd had enough, packed up and made a run for the car. A refund for that night would have been the decent business thing to do, they were unconcerned so I will post this in hopes of warning others. read more

We stopped in for breakfast and we're pleasantly surprised to find fresh crepes on the menu. The owner makes everything fresh so it isn't fast food, but it is worth the wait. We did my daughter's wedding at Paradise Village and everything was AMAZING. The venue worked out incredibly and the food was great. It wasn't just the quality of the food, even their timing was right on. The cost was very affordable but even better was the value for the price. Stayed here for 2 nights in December to visit mount Rainer park. This place is located right outside of the parks entrance, just about a 10-15 min drive. We had a cabin for these nights, but paradise village also has "hotel" options as well. There is a restaurant on the grounds as well, owned by the Ukrainian family that owns paradise village, and has a variety of delicious food for both breakfast and dinner. We tried the salads, crepes, and omelettes and they were all fantastic! There is also a "hot tub" that has been made (pictures included) that was so neat. You do have to make a reservation for a time for this. William was super helpful with accommodating my friend and I during our stay, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Would definitely recommend this place for both a secluded stay in the beautiful mountains of WA, or as just a stop at the restaurant for visitors! :-) Full disclosure: The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because our power did go out on the 2nd night, so we were freezing from about 5 am until we checked out (we left around 8 am due to early flights). read more

This inn is owned by a fabulous Ukrainian family where everyone, including the kids, run all parts of the business from check-ins, to room service, managing the bakery and cooking the dinners. Though the kids were gracious and doing their best, they still needed some helpful adult supervision and additional staffing for a more flawless experience. Our room was clean and nice, however it needed a helping hand to ensure the little things were done...hair in the sink and shower from previous guests and no cream for coffee. Dinner staff consisted of two delightful girls...one server and one cook. The dining facility was packed full of families waiting to order. The server appeared a bit frazzled with the amount of people for dinner. They truly needed additional help in the kitchen. Just before we ordered, she came out of the kitchen to let us know that her sister who was cooking was feeling very ill was willing to make pierogies or borscht but then needed to go rest. (adult helping hands could have circumvented this issue entirely). We all opted to go dine elsewhere, which is quite a lot of money to lose in a night...and during a pandemic, left many people fairly upset...especially the people with food already in their mouths that had been handled by someone feeling very ill. The bakery looked delightful! The menu boasts crepes, Belgian waffles...the bakery treats looked mouth-watering and the espresso list all made us look forward to breakfast in the morning before an early hike. The website says it is open from 7-9am for breakfast however they were not open until well after 8am. We had driven into Ashford looking for breakfast elsewhere and only found a little coffee stand for bagels and coffee...upon driving back, we saw the "open" sign lit, but it was too late to stop. We wanted to hike early so we would beat the heat. The hot tub was quite an expense, but was nice to have a soak after a long hike. If you are allergic to bees, they make their own honey and the bees are kept near the hot tub and they like to visit for a drink of water. Better to check it out before making a big purchase. We had no issues. Last, we were new to the area and had many questions about Mount Rainier and its many trails. The front desk staff offered to show us a book filled with brochures and papers, however those were years outdated. With the ranger station so close, it would be simple to keep everything updated. I think anyone who is looking to stay here should be aware that this IS a family business run by the whole family and should expect some amount of imperfections for the price they pay. People looking to stay here need to ask when the dining facility and bakery opens...and know that the front desk and office have limited hours (as this is an "inn" in the country, not a city hotel). Even though this is near the national park, I'm not sure I would pay this price to stay again. read more

I have separate reviews for the restaurant and the lodging. I like we were able to rent for one night during the weekend and the proximity to the Rainier National Park was super close. There is a father and teenage son that run both the lodging and restaurants. The son was super respectful and kept his mask on 100% of the time. The father (owner) did not. I can't say I feel 100% confident that the cabin was sterilized. One of the coffee cups was dirty so if you are worried about things being sanitized, maybe this isn't a good fit for you. The room was small and had several spiders in it. Loved the nightlight/Bluetooth in the bathroom. I think $200 a night is a bit much. Along the cabins were tall weeds and the sprinklers were actually on when we were packing and leaving. Yes, we got wet! Wonder why they were on during that time. Strange. read more

I don't typically leave reviews for a restaurant if I haven't eaten there, but I feel that this one is warranted. Came to the restaurant for dinner one evening and felt that the establishment was woefully unprepared for serving the public. There was one person behind the counter taking orders for a crowd of at least a dozen people. This occurred at the height of one of the COVID waves (delta variant), and most of the customers were crammed into the building waiting to order so it felt unsafe. I asked how long it would take for food to be ready and was given the answer of 20 minutes, yet I can guarantee it would have taken at least 20 minutes just to get my order in, and probably another hour for the food to be ready. The restaurant had only one random table in the back for outdoor seating, with ambiance lacking. We decided we just weren't feeling it and left, which is disappointing because we were really in the mood to try Ukrainian food. read more

Pre-paid for 2 nights back in January. Room had black mold throughout the bathroom ceiling and wall. There was NO SMOKE DETECTOR in the room. The exterior door appeared to be a simple lock-there was no way to add additional security when inside room (no deadbolt or interior lock of any kind) so we moved the pull out bed to block the door. When the bed was opened it was stained and sheets were still on it. We spent one night and that was it! We had to wait until after 8am to check out and try to speak with someone. Was told manager was not available and we should just call. Did that-no call back. Stopped by again mid afternoon and still no one able to speak to us and we were told to send an email. Our stay was absolutely amazing! The cottages are cozy and romantic, and in a great location - just minutes away from one of the entrances to Mount Rainier. When my friend and I arrived, they were doing renovations in the cottages, and it just so happened that they needed about an hour to set up our TV. The owner was so kind to make us an Ukrainian dinner with tea and meringues while we waited. After a long day of traveling, this was such a pleasant surprise. Stayed here for 2 nights and had a great stay from beginning to end. Maria & her husband must not sleep because I feel like it's just them two working night and day! We got in around 4pm on Wednesday and checked in which was easy. Got to our room which was so cute! We were even surprised with a bottle of wine & some pastries in the fridge. Turns out my mother in law called in earlier to arrange a special birthday surprise and they went above and beyond to make it happen! The bed was super comfy and right outside on the porch, you get a great view of the mountains! The only thing I would've wanted to change was lighting inside. There were just 2 bedside lamps and one bigger one in the room which were more on the dim side so it was hard to search for things. The bed was super comfy! Oh, and heated floors. MUCH APPRECIATED after a cold hike! As far as food, we had dinner there the first night! We ordered the dumpling soup. My husband got the alfredo which the owner said he loved and I got the gnocchi because he recommended it! I'm not the hugest gnocchi fan but felt like going with the flow! They gave complimentary warm homemade bread with an oil dip which was amazingggg. Warm and perfectly baked. The soup warmed our souls and tasted so organic and earthy! The alfredo was awesome, our one year old also loved it! And the gnocchi was the best gnocchi I've ever had! The punch of flavor was perfect! Also, at check in, Maria said BYOB so we brought our wine and enjoyed it with dinner! The second night I got hungry and ran over to see if I could order a crepe for dinner and she said she could make it for me and bring it straight to my room. BLESSS HER. It was 8:30pm and she had her son running to my room with it within 10 minutes. The complimentary breakfast was also good! Had something for everyone. Cereal, yogurt, bagels, eggs etc! Next time we come back, I definitely want to try their cannibal hot tub! We couldn't this time because of our baby but it looks pretty cool! Can't say enough good things about this place. This meal was such a pleasant treat during our visit to Mt. Rainier. My boyfriend and I stopped in after a local told us that they had heard great things about this restaurant, and we were not disappointed. Paradise Village is an adorable lodge with an American/Ukrainian restaurant attached. We ordered the salmon entrees, split Mac and cheese and the summer salad, but were most impressed with the delicious complimentary bread and incredible pastry options. It feels like this place should be featured on Parts Unknown. Mariya (who owns Paradise Village with her husband) was so sweet and does most of the cooking herself. Read a negative review below about there being children working at the Inn. Yes, the son was behind the desk and the daughter a waitress but they were both incredibly friendly and helpful. We made a mistake with our AirBnB reservation in Seattle and needed a room for one night. By chance, the VisitRainer website pointed us to Paradise Village Hotel. We were so pleased with our cabin. It was very comfortable and relaxing. Just what we needed after walking a few trails. The breakfast was excellent! So many yummy pastries. We'll definitely book here again the next time we visit Mt. We stayed here July 5th and July 6th 2018. It's brand new owners, and they are doing an amazing job of renovating the old Overland hotel. The beds were incredibly comfortable, with European style duvets. The bathroom was really nice with a great shower -- instantly hot water in the shower and very nice looking. One of the owners previously owned a bakery, and her pastries are amazing. The breakfast was incredible. Everyone there was very nice, very accommodating and very hard-working. It was pure chance that we wound up staying here, and we are very happy that we did. My entire family was very happy that we wound up here. read more
