I agree with some other reviewers that the store is tight. However it's because they are squeezing in as many wines as possible, and compared to other local wine stores, you will find wines here that you cannot find anywhere else locally. We came for a specific wine that we were not able to find anywhere else locally, and during our visit (on a Friday), we got to sample a few wines and were treated with personalized service that I've never experienced at any other wine store. Paradise wines specializes in sustainable, biodynamic, and small batch wines however their prices are still very affordable. I'm very happy with the wines and service we got, and will definitely make the trip to come back soon. read more

There are great choices on all price points for organic and/or biodynamic wines, natural wines and small batch producers of spirits and wines. If you've never tried an organic and/or biodynamic wine you are in for a treat. With less sulfites and less chemicals these wines are almost health food! Do yourself a favor and check out Paradise. Amazingly broad selection of interesting wines paired with expert guidance. A destination.

I've heard many good things about this place so, finally, I decided to stop in. What i found was actually a rather cold welcoming although the other staff person was having a great conversation with another customer. I wandered around a little bit and was a little confused by the order and signage. I must admit, I don't know much about wine, so that could be part of it. When I went to the cash register, the person didn't acknowledge me for a bit. And then, after checking out, the person just sat down as opposed to offering or even talking about a receipt. There wasn't even a 'you can take your card out' or 'thank you' or 'have a good day.' I found that weird. The last thing that makes this 4 stars is that this is not a place for a person of size. I felt very uncomfortable browsing the store. The aisles are narrow - much narrower than other places. And if you had any sort of device for mobility, you wouldn't be able to browse anything. I know it's to try to get the most in the space, but this is just a yelp warning that it's not comfortable if you need/want space. I appreciate the sustainability and organic nature of things. It's what keeps this at a 4 instead of a 3. read more

I love this place. Paula and her staff are always super helpful and kind. I've tried some great wines from shopping here, and I love knowing that they are organic and/or sustainably grown/produced. The shop itself appears small from the outside, but you'd be surprised by how many aisles and shelves of wine are inside! It's a real nice vibe when you walk in. There is a little lot on the left of the entrance but it can be tough to get out of. It's not usually hard to get a spot in the street, especially after Remedy House has closed for the day. Very cool, personable people who know their wine and bourbon and want to talk to you about it. They sample regularly and like to discuss cheap finds (my favorite kind). Although crowded, the store is neat, well-organized, and uncluttered. You can find really nice bottles here from $10.99 (e.g. the tasty Chilean carmenere we grabbed) all the way up to whatever you want to spend, and the small-batch artisanal brandies, gins, and whiskeys leave you drooling with cocktail ideas. Like many things in the newly-gentrifying Five Points area, it has limited hours (businesses to the north are regularly held up after dark) and I didn't see any parking (although there are abundant on-street opportunities), but Paradise is a really nice contribution to a great part of town that's getting better. read more

Lots of love for this little wine store. The offerings here are niche, organic, and largely from sustainable processes, and the passion the owners and employees have for their products shines through in everything from the curated selection itself to the detailed, first person descriptions labeling every last bottle in the shop. These people are serious about wine. I made a passing comment about a chardonnay I'd seen on shelves when I lived in Washington to the owner, who happened to know everything about the bottle from its grapes to the vineyard's owner to its exact flavor profile. As a bonus, the stuff here covers a huge price range - most is in the $10-$15 area, but they also stock high end bottles. This is an awesome thing to have in this area. I was impressed with this little wine store. All the wines are organic and biodynamic, and they are working to add more local wines as well. They all sell spirits including some from the Hudson Valley with lovely little bottles and all Hudson Valley fruits - peach brandy, cherry brandy, pear brandy, apple vodka, and a nice smooth whiskey they were sampling. It was nice to see a variety of price points. The owners were happy to discuss the wine and what they knew about them, but will also be adding tags to each wine so you don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to. The original floors were salvaged and add a homey rustic vibe to the place. One of the owners us currently researching which wines are vegan, but when I went today, there were four reds clearly labeled as such. The vegan wines ranged from $8.99 to around $25. read more

I walked by a few times and it just looked so cute. I called yesterday because I saw they were doing curbside pickup and I was really craving a Chardonnay. I told the staff member that picked up what I was looking for and they picked a wine for me based on my taste and price range. Excellent. I was expecting something smaller for some reason but I stepped inside to find a very nice selection of wine, all beautifully merchandised with display tags containing helpful descriptions. The owner, Paula, was also very helpful in sharing her knowledge. She asked me about my preferences and then suggested four wines, telling me a little about each. I purchased two bottles and the one that I tried tonight was fantastic - dry but still fruity; exactly what I told her I like. You might expect a boutique wine shop to be super pricey but this store offers a selection across a wide range of price points. While there were certainty more expensive bottles available, my two purchases came to a total of about $25. This is a great place to explore some new options. One of the best features is that if you let Paula know what you're looking for, she'll have great suggestions, whether for an occasion, to pair with particular food, or to suit your individual taste. There is a surprisingly large and varied selection of wine & spirits here in this friendly refreshed space. I also like that there are unique finds including a lot of our fine local products for the connoisseurs on my gift lists. The weekly wine tasting is fun, a great opportunity to sample a couple to several wines and to learn a bit, too. If you sign up for the Wine Club, you'll get a weekly email previewing the wines that will be featured (and discounted) at the tasting, so you can read up on what you'll be sipping and then try before you buy. Paradise is my new favorite wine store in Buffalo, no doubt about it. Excellent selection of wines, excellent prices (good range of affordable but great wines as well as some high end bottles) and excellent customer service.
