It was my first time visiting their Richmond location! I arrived around 1030am and there was already a short lineup at the store. They're currently doing black Friday promos and this week's was hojicha. I ordered the matcha bbt with 30% sweetness and it was pretty delicious, though I would have enjoyed an even stronger matcha flavor profile. The longest part of the wait was the line to order - they have a strict policy of only 5 people waiting in line inside at a time, so if it's raining you better have an umbrella! They have a bar seating area at the front but it's currently closed off as an online order pickup area, leaving a few small tables and a bench seating area along the back wall. I saw a few people working their with their laptops so it must be a quiet enough place to work/study. Their cookies looked really good to so I'll have to try it some other time... Parking seems relatively easy on the medium sized lot. The 16 oz goes for around $8.75 and I love that they have a variety of high quality teas for purchase. The Matcha Oat Latte with Black Sesame had a strong black sesame flavor infused into the milk. I actually preferred the Thai Tea over the matcha. I would've definitely lowered the sweetness if I knew ahead of time that it could be lowered. Tried out their new location which was much more convenient for me! I went when they had just newly opened and so the service was quite slow - we had waited for our drinks for 15-20minutes. I went back a couple weeks later and the rush had died down and it was probably around a 5 min wait for drinks. There was around 5-6 tables of various sizes and a good place to chat with friends. Doesn't seem like a great place to work though as it's pretty busy. My favourite drink to get here is the mango hojicha latte - I will always gravitate towards this one! On a different day, I tried their season special of kinako genmaicha. I liked the salted rim as it provided a contrast in taste compared to the lighter tasting genmaicha. So glad to have a location in Richmond now, right on No.3 Road and conveniently located by Aberdeen station. Visited during their second soft opening day and got my drink in no time at 6pm. Having religiously gone to the original location, I think the HK milk tea used to be more punchy and heavier on the tea flavor (which I liked), but the recipes might still be adjusting during this soft opening. The matcha color and flavor was fantastic and suits the oat milk really well. I love the attention that Paragon puts towards the quality of their teas and it makes such a difference when comparing this local establishment to the other bubble tea chains close by. With the new space, they've increased their tea retail space. This is the new location as the one in Vancouver is now closed! I love how simple the menu is and their focus on mastering a few items on the menu and doing what they do best. Their matcha oat is creamy and strong but the flavour is not too overpowering and bitter. Their pearls (if you opt for a topping) is chewy. My friend said her Hojicha drink was really delicious and while I ordered the obsidian version which is supposed to taste a bit more caramelly. My friend said it wasn't too strong or overpowering. Prices are a bit higher as my 3 drinks came to over $25, but the quality is solid. Parking is a pain! Paragon is such a gem. I'm so happy they opened a location closer to where I live. I've been to both paragon locations (Richmond and Vancouver) and they're both great. The matcha is high quality and very brightly coloured. The service is very nice and they're quite helpful when you're indecisive. They sell some tea ware and the house-made powders are great and perfect for gifting. I've tried pretty much every tea on the menu and my top 2 favourites are the matcha black sesame latte and the London fog. They make the best London fog ever as they use an earl grey powder instead of tea bags so the flavours are very distinct. I love that this is a dairy free cafe so all the drinks are made with oat or soy milk. I only wish they would expand their matcha latte menu because there's really only the regular matcha or the black sesame matcha on the menu. Another thing I don't like is the location.
