But I would not have tipped almost 40% as a tip for breakfast for mediocre service. Blindsided to be charged such a ridiculous amount with no liquor for breakfast. My wife ordered Entrana with shrimp off the special and it was ALL world. Corona Ave in Queens has Peruvian, Colombian, Dominican, Italian restaurants etc, etc, etc.... Happy to come across this small restaurant that packs a serious punch for quality Latino food. The sangrias were great! This place is a scam: They didn't tell me tip was included they got a double tip. They totally know that this would happen. Nowhere in the restaurant do they let you know that tip is included regardless of size. It was on the bill but I had already forward them payment through PayPal. You have to pay through Zelle or Pay Pal. I couldn't ask for the tip back. They got a 40% tip from me. They charged me $6.50 to add avocado to a Bandeja Paisa; the Bandeja Paisa dish traditionally includes avocado. They even charge additionally for the take away container. I hate going to places that are not centered in the experience of the customer. If I'm upset about the tip, and I let you know, you should give me the tip back. Beyond disappointed with the food at this place. Do not order cazuela de mariscos soup tasted and smelled really bad. We brought this up to the attention of the waitress and more than wanting to get another dish we wanted them to know that maybe the seafood was not fresh. You think they'll want to keep a customer happy and offer at the very least a discount NO. They offer to prepare another dish but the other dish we ordered was not that good either so there was no point ordering anything else to replace the cazuela. Not only did they charge us full price but they also added tip and never brought back the change. In short food gets a negative 10 and service/customer care even lower than that. Solid choice near flushing meadows park. I had the tostones with guacamole, chicken and beef empanadas as appetizers. Then the shredded beef, and fish stew as main courses. To drink we had a Colombian kola drink and a fresh lemonade. The fresh lemonade was great. I'm not sure what they put in it but it was very cloudy. Definitely freshly made, light taste, perfect balance of sweet and sour. The tostones with guacamole were amazing. The plantains were crispy and the guacamole was very good. Empanadas were a good start as well. We got one to go for later. Of the two mains the shredded beef was the best. The beef came in long strands, I had to swirl them on my fork like spaghetti. The taste was very hearty and satisfying. The waiter brought us his own special hot sauce freshly made, which went very well with all the dishes, but especially the beef. The fish stew was a bit disappointing. There was a lot of food and it was prepared well, but the flavor of the fish was a bit bland. Next time I go back I will try a different dish, but I will get the beef again. read more

We were extremely disappointed at this restaurant. We used to eat there often but stopped going after the pandemic. We went back to find out everything had changed. It seems the owners are new, they changed the menu to include less accompaniments and the dishes we ordered tasted nothing like they used to. When we paid, tip was already included which the waitress didn't inform us and when she handed us the credit card receipt (she kept the original receipt) it listed tip again which we almost paid AGAIN had we not asked the waitress if she could give us original receipt to check something. They also included a charge for using credit card and a charge for the take out container. OUTRAGEOUS! I feel that they were dishonest and greedy. We understand it's hard times but hiding these fees from customers is not the answer. Sadly, this restaurant is not a choice for us anymore. read more

This is such a good place to eat. Their food is so tasty and tipical. If you want to try the Colombian plates I really do recommend la bandeja paisa. It feeds 4 people! Their service is really great as well; very friendly. Only reason I took off a star is because of how small the place is. However my experience today was disappointing and I will not be coming back. I ordered 2 bandejas & they both tasted horrible. I tried to add salt and sauce and it didn't help. The beans tasted straight out of the can like another reviewer said. I brought this to the waitress' attention and she says she will speak to the lady chef. She comes back only to say that the chef said there is nothing wrong with the food and that it was cooked today. She does not even bother to ask if I wanted it to be cooked again, or if I wanted something else as a replacement she just walked away. We couldn't eat any of it so we asked for the bill. She hands us the bill and goes back to the kitchen only to come back again and ask if we put any sauce on the food. Once again walks back to the kitchen and comes out with the chef only to stand by the kitchen talking. Seriously what was the point of so many questions and pretending to be concerned? This is the best Colombian restaurant in Queens. Why? Some context first: I'm a Colombian who has lived in Queens for 10 years. Most restaurants have an obsessively paisa menu with tasteless dishes and oversized portions. Since Paraiso Colombiano has been under new ownership, this is in fact a little paradise. Their carne asada (grilled meat) is juicy and tasty, but my favorite dishes: Mojarra and Pargo (types of fish) are exquisite. The most authentic ever. I also recommend Tostones with Guacamelo (delicious) and their natural juices. The place is small but the attention is fast and great. Seriously, get to know colombian food here.
