Days ago I celebrated my birthday in this restaurant. I have become a regular for all good reasons you can think about, but my birthday was out of this world! Honestly, we were a group of over 20 people: employees at Raices do know what Customer Service means. You will also eat the best Colombian food in NY. The restaurant is big but cozy, what makes it perfect for events, and is beautifully decorated. And the music? Wow! we were so lucky to have a great singer and an amazing dj that night (salsa, merengue, bachata, vallenato, all Latin rhytms), we danced the night away! If there were more stars I would give them all to them. They all deserve all kinds of praise! Raices is by far the Best Colombian restaurant in NY!

There was no wait time, my dad and I got immediately seated. They have small bar and outdoor seating available as well. I ordered myself chicken while my dad got shrimp. He wanted yuca Frita instead of tostones but the waitress informed us that would be an additional charge so we didn't do that- That being said, the food was delicious, I just wish the staff was more attentive. My father had to ask the hostess that sat us down to find someone to take our order. If I could give this restaurant a three. Five I would but since I can't three stars will do.

Cool ambiance with a DJ. It was a little loud and service was a little slow. We got the bandeja and seafood plate for 2. I liked the yuca fries. Both dishes were very filling. My husband wasn't a fan of the food...he felt like it wasn't fresh and was sitting for a while.

Thanks to UberEATS trying to get my business with a promo code, I had the freedom to gamble on a meal from a restaurant I've never been to. Boy oh boy! Did I hit the jackpot with this one! The app doesn't allow you to select your steak's cooking temperature (rare to well done). I guess I got medium well to well done. I didn't care, that was not important because I devoured the entire thing! So good! Rice was delicious too. Ate all of that too! The only thing I didn't care for were the tostones. They were way too hard.

Delicious!! The skirt steak aka entrana was a decent portion and the lengua was delicious with the side of rice and beans! I'll be back to try their other dishes

Came here with a moderate-sized group on a Friday evening and was surprised to see literally no one else inside for dinner. Before getting seated, the hostess let us know they temporarily did not have their liquor license, and we could not bring in alcohol either (odd but fine enough). Between the seven of us, tried all sorts of dishes: Empanadas de Carne ($5.50) - six well fried patties with tender meat inside Empanadas de Pollo ($5.50) - not as juicy as the carne option Cazuelita Morcilla ($13.95) - fantastic blood sausage casserole, balanced Lengua a la Criolla ($21.50) - thick cow tongue with rice and beans, would have preferred this diced into a meal Camarones al Ajillo ($24) - shrimp in garlic sauce, good flavors and large pieces Tostones Guacamole ($12.95) - basic guac and tostones, could have used more salt Arepa con Queso ($4.75) - fresh arepas topped with a block of cheese, needed some hot sauce for more of a kick Chicharron con Arepa ($4.95) - better than the cheese option, more flavor Bandeja Tipica Antioquena ($16.95) - meat platter with eggs and plantains, a bit overly fried but definitely a filling amount of food. Service is solid as we were the only customers there, and the items came out quickly. A little far from the train but a no hassle spot for dinner.

Latino Bites is a small, no-frills Colombian eatery that's got a straight-forward menu, good service and AMAZING food. I've only had Colombian food a few times and I was happy to try something new - the menu has photos and descriptions for all different options. My friend'a husband is Colombian so she was very familiar with the menu. The Colombian burgers looked out of this world - also they are huge. BOMBASTIC I would say. But we both went with an Arepa each - I had the Chicken Arepa and my friend had the Chorizo Arepa. So so so good!! When the arepa first comes out, it looks small but once you start eating it, you realize the amount of chicken and the sauces on the arepa makes it very substantial and filling. Served with a little bit of salsa and a little lettuce on the side, it was very satisfying. They also have some juices, sodas, and other food options like tacos, pizza and of course, as mentioned, the burgers! Since I tried to "be good," it will have to possibly be a next-time treat! 9/10 spot; so good that they even have a good truck across the street.

Because these arepas were different, but enjoyable…read more --- --- --- To-date, I apparently have only had Venezuelan arepas and wasn't aware of how different Colombian arepas were. Colombian arepas (or at least the ones here) come with a sweet, corn tortilla and are more open faced: to be eaten with a fork. In the past, I've had flour tortillas that are designed more like a taco and eaten as a handheld. So despite the differences, I (and my friends) enjoyed our meal. Let the official record state, I ordered the arepas con queso with chorizo. We had plans to eat our way through Jackson Heights, but because a couple of the places we planned to visit were closed, we actually just mostly hung out here and enjoyed our arepas of the sweet and open-faced variety. It was a good afternoon.

Before this, if someone mentioned arepas, I probably would have confused them with pupusas, which I'd only seen at street fairs and thought of as more of a sweet item. I had no idea they came in savory versions too. I went with the carne asada arepa, and the beef was fresh, juicy, and cooked just right. It's so common for places to overcook little chunks of beef, but here it was perfect. Each arepa is big enough to split between two people, so the price feels very fair. The filling was generous, with beef packed inside and even overflowing out the sides. They also serve the arepas with a rack of five or six sauces to choose from. Some were spicy, and one had a sweet condensed milk flavor if you like a mix of sweet and savory. My go to ended up being this green mayonnaise sauce which I assumed was like some sort of a lime mayo, which added the perfect tartiness to the rich cheese filling.
