We got stuck in 15 degree weather in a parking lot around 2pm, when returning from a medical…read moreappointment. What happened to call AAA? , a hose broke and there was no power steering. Triple A gets at least one less star as they said service would come in about 1 hour or more not 3 hours and 2 calls to dispatch later. Only 1 person can ride in the Tow truck these days we called a cab. I stayed waiting for the Tow truck. Near 5 pm this tow truck pulled up. Once there, it turned out that the driver was a friendly person who quickly and professionally properly got the car on the truck, assisted me into his tow truck, made sure I used a seat belt and then drove me to my favorite best Auto mechanic at Mike's Auto in Hicksville. Once there, he asked where to put the car down. As the guys were still there getting ready to leave for the day, they told him where to place the car and he did so with a friendly goodbye before leaving. In conversation with the driver I found he had 5 calls all at around the same time and was working it out from his location to get to each that needed assistance, along with connecting with other drivers to get help for all of them. So, overall if it is to happen at least it was a clear day, during daylight hours, not far from home and other then the wait, it went as smoothly as a situation like this could.

Every other time I've used AAA, it's been free. Somehow these guys created enough BS fees to charge me $700 on top of what they get paid by AAA. Things like $175 yard fee on top of a $50/day storage fee. $150 accident clean up fee even though we drove our cars to a parking lot as directed by the police. Nothing to clean! $75 release fee to bring my car somewhere else. $175 hook up fee!?!? Yes, that's right, they charged $175 to hook up my car to their tow truck even though it was dispatched by AAA. A $75 administrative fee, etc etc After multiple arguments while I was waiting to get my car towed away from this rip off shop, I was able to get my final bill down to $300. I am now working with AAA who will hopefully reimburse me or get the rest of the money back from Statewide. I ended up in this position because the driver of the tow truck convinced me he would not be able to get to my preferred body shop before they closed. It was 5:20 and he said he could not make it even though it was a 40min drive and the place closed at 7:00. The bodyshop could not accept cars after they close so I felt like I was stuck. I found out after the fact that they could not charge any of these fees if my car didn't go their shop. They basically took my car hostage and created as big of a bill as possible. DON'T LET THEM TAKE YOUR CAR TO THEIR SHOP. It worked out in the end. I took my car to the bodyshop my dealer recommended. They wanted $3700 instead of the $4600 Statewide quoted me. Also, 1 week to do the work instead of 2 weeks. Seriously, avoid at all costs.
