We got stuck in 15 degree weather in a parking lot around 2pm, when returning from a medical appointment. What happened to call AAA? , a hose broke and there was no power steering. Triple A gets at least one less star as they said service would come in about 1 hour or more not 3 hours and 2 calls to dispatch later. Only 1 person can ride in the Tow truck these days we called a cab. I stayed waiting for the Tow truck. Near 5 pm this tow truck pulled up. Once there, it turned out that the driver was a friendly person who quickly and professionally properly got the car on the truck, assisted me into his tow truck, made sure I used a seat belt and then drove me to my favorite best Auto mechanic at Mike's Auto in Hicksville. Once there, he asked where to put the car down. As the guys were still there getting ready to leave for the day, they told him where to place the car and he did so with a friendly goodbye before leaving. In conversation with the driver I found he had 5 calls all at around the same time and was working it out from his location to get to each that needed assistance, along with connecting with other drivers to get help for all of them. So, overall if it is to happen at least it was a clear day, during daylight hours, not far from home and other then the wait, it went as smoothly as a situation like this could. read more

If this company comes to tow you, avoid letting them take your car to their shop at all costs. I got hit with a $700 bill just for the tow and keeping my car at their shop over the weekend. Every other time I've used AAA, it's been free. Somehow these guys created enough BS fees to charge me $700 on top of what they get paid by AAA. Things like $175 yard fee on top of a $50/day storage fee. $150 accident clean up fee even though we drove our cars to a parking lot as directed by the police. Nothing to clean! $75 release fee to bring my car somewhere else. $175 hook up fee!?!? Yes, that's right, they charged $175 to hook up my car to their tow truck even though it was dispatched by AAA. A $75 administrative fee, etc etc After multiple arguments while I was waiting to get my car towed away from this rip off shop, I was able to get my final bill down to $300. I am now working with AAA who will hopefully reimburse me or get the rest of the money back from Statewide. I ended up in this position because the driver of the tow truck convinced me he would not be able to get to my preferred body shop before they closed. It was 5:20 and he said he could not make it even though it was a 40min drive and the place closed at 7:00. The bodyshop could not accept cars after they close so I felt like I was stuck. I found out after the fact that they could not charge any of these fees if my car didn't go their shop. They basically took my car hostage and created as big of a bill as possible. DON'T LET THEM TAKE YOUR CAR TO THEIR SHOP. It worked out in the end. I took my car to the bodyshop my dealer recommended. They wanted $3700 instead of the $4600 Statewide quoted me. Also, 1 week to do the work instead of 2 weeks. Seriously, avoid at all costs. read more

A quick update: Picked up my vehicle in May and the airbag light was still on, all parts and work was done incorrectly; All parts installed incorrectly. Stoler Lexus and Shining Star auto repair completed all corrective repairs. DMV launched an investigation against Statewide Auto Repair after reviewing the damages to my car. Statewide refuses to cooperate or pay restitution for the damages. They are scheduled for court and hopefully be out of business so this doesn't happen to anyone else. Please my NO means take your car here if they are still open. They won't be for long. read more

Worst towing service imaginable! They are affiliated and were sent by AAA. They picked up my car in Hempstead at 11am. The driver shucked and jived for a tip. Once received he put my car up on the truck. I asked him if he had the drop off location. He then put on his glasses and looked it up on a tablet. He had been pulling off the street when I asked him that-how you leaving but don't know where you're headed sir??? I knew then he had no intentions of actually doing this job professionally. The company literally did not drop it off until 10 HOURS LATER! Zero communication until I threatened to call the cops. And even then it was a different driver, telling me the drivers change after ten hours. Then had the audacity to refuse to lower it off the truck until I paid them some grossly exaggerated fee for "tolls." Sheer madness with this company. Stay away! I cannot believe AAA is still doing business with these clowns. If AAA tries to send them to you, request a different company and wait for a more professional one to arrive. Honestly, you'll be thankful in the long run. read more

I have to give this place 5 stars because they got me out of a very difficult situation in the most timely and effective manner possible. I was traveling with my kid to visit colleges on Long Island. We came out to our car in the morning to drive the short distance to Hofstra University when we discovered we had a flat tire. The AAA dispatch was from Statewide, and he was a consummate professional, and also well informed about the local colleges! He got us to the repair shop where they were able to patch the tire, but it was in bad shape and they did not recommend trying to drive back to Albany, NY with it that night. We had already had to reschedule the Hofstra appointment and also had one at Adelphi, so we drove on the patched tire to go for the appointments and returned there later to get two replacement tires that were waiting for us. It was a most stressful experience but the people here did everything to make it less so. We were back on the road shortly after 6PM. I give this 5-star rating even though the waiting room was terrible. They had also just painted it so we had to deal with that smell, but it does look like they are trying to improve it. There was also an uninstalled TV there that I expect they will be putting up soon. For now though, if you can go somewhere else while you car is being serviced, do. But definitely feel good about having your car serviced here. read more

Came into this business for a photo inspection and I was in and out within 10 mins, quick service, and the job was accomplished.

AAA send statewide for a battery problem in my car. First the dispatcher at Statewide send a mechanic without the proper toolsd, then when the mechanic called the shop the dispatcher told him the guy to check batteries went home at 4pm so they will service the car between 7am and 4pm the next day. I explained to him that my window was open and could not close it without a battery, couldnt he send someone else and he said its not his problem and hung up on me. I had to call AAA again and request ANYONE BUT STATEWIDE. They came and replaced the battery with no hassle. IF I EVER NEED AAA AGAIN I WILL BE SURE TO REQUEST ANYONE BUT STATEWIDE read more

I needed a tow and I called Triple A and they told me Statewide was coming. I knew I was in trouble when the driver was looking for me at the Sunoco Station when I told the Triple a dispatcher I was on Quentin Roosevelt Boulevard between Stewart Ave and Commercial Ave. After he loaded the car on the flatbed, he was having an issue with his driver side windshield wiper and decided to swap them so he could see in the rain. Unfortunately, to swap them, I had to get out of the passenger side of the flatbed and stand in the pouring rain while he did this. We started driving and I keep on saying, you're going east, I live in Queens which is west. He literally drove in a circle as we passed the same place I broke down. Finally, we ended up on Merrick Ave and he made a right onto Hempstead Turnpike. He must of driven about seven miles out of his way. If he wanted to go on Hempstead Turnpike west, which is not the best way to northern Queens, all he had to do was make a right on Commercial Ave and a left on Oak St and a right on Hempstead Turnpike. During our drive, I ask him if I could pay with a credit card, he said we don't take credit cards after midnight. I asked if he just made that up. We got to my house about 11:45 pm for a tow that should of taken 30 minutes, took 90 minutes. Of course, he would not drop the car unless I paid for 20 miles, the tow should have been 16, but for an extra $20, I needed the car. I asked him for a receipt he said he forgot his receipt book. When he dropped the car he left it so far away from the curb and on such a bad angle, I thought I would get a ticket or get hit. I was forced to change two flat tires in the middle of the night, in the pouring rain so I could move the car and not get a ticket or hit. When he took the car off the lift, he moved the window down, but of course he forgot to put it back up and my seat was soaked, not to mention the door panel was filthy from his gloves. Do yourself a favor and never use them for a tow. I told triple A, I will never use them again. read more

This place is horrible! If you want to waste a lot of time, be lied to and not get your car fixed come here. The tow truck driver who picked up my car lied to me and said it was definitely the starter and that he could have the job done in about an hour if they had the part. He took the car to this place at 10am I didn't hear anything from them. I called at 4pm to get information. The first few times I called I was on hold for 10 min or more. I had to hang up and call back only to get a guy with an attitude that I wanted info and he claimed he would call back once he finds out the details about the car cause it's a big job and going to cost a lot of money to fix. This guy never called back. The next day I came to get info on my car only to find no one had any answers. I had to call AAA again to have it towed to another shop. read more

I too, used this facility because it was AAA approved. Which apparently doesn't give you any extra guarantees on quality of work and/or customer service. My car was at this shop for 5 days being repaired. Unfortunately my car was back at this shop 5 days later due to a malfunction that seems could have been related to the previous work done on the car. Things take a major turn for the worse after I ask for verification of the VIN on a part prior to the repair work being done. From this point forward the written quote we received could not be honored with the specs originally agreed upon. The pricing estimates then continued to increase with one quote being DOUBLE the amount of the original estimate, which translated to thousands. I took a trip to the shop to retrieve an item from my car and to my shock and disappointment my car was dismantled and the interior is littered with car parts. My car is a SUV and there were dirty and greasy car parts in each of the three rows of seats, along with a leaking radiator in the back. I removed my car from this facility the very next day at which time the owner attempted to charge me for work done on the car. I never authorized any work and since I never agreed on the replacement part, I'm still unsure why the car was dismantled. After a major confrontation, the shop owner was "kind" enough to tow my vehicle back to my residence free of charge. AAA informed me that these negligent actions were an "unfortunate mistake made by a worker at this shop." I have filed several formal grievances and to date I'm still working on getting some type of satisfactory resolution. In the interim my car is ultimately in worse condition then when I delivered it to this shop. P.S. I have also dropped AAA they have been inept and ineffective with handling this dispute. This place is a total rip off. They are not honest. They cannot be trusted. The owner literally jumped up and down on top of my car. They are holding my car hostage. They lied too me from the day AAA towed my car after a roadside emergency. If they come to pick up your car beware. They robbed me damaged my car and threatened to kill me. They lied and said I needed a new engine. I gave them a $500 deposit to replace the engine. They refused delivery of an engine I purchased. AAA assigned this shop to tow my car. The shop and driver consistently lied to me about how far away they were for three hours (original wait time was one hour). They told me 30 minutes, an hour later it was 10 more minutes etc. They're a shady shop. Literally the worst service I've ever experienced in my life. Avoid at all costs!!!! would give zero ratings if given the chance. my car battery broke down in the hofstra student center parking lot and i called aaa for a jump start. here are the things that went wrong after the call was made: 1) eta was 7 (i called at 6), the truck showed up around 7:45 without prompting me at all that they were running late 2) he went to the wrong lot twice (even though he said he supposedly knows the campus backwards and forwards) 3) he had no idea where my vehicle was (even though i was standing in front of it and it was the only nissan altima in the lot and the only nj car in the lot) 4) he had such a rude attitude when he got there (he threatened to walk away and not even jump start the battery just because i got mad since he was almost an hour late 5) and after all of this, he didn't even give me his name so unfortunately i cannot warn the community about who this guy is and to stay away from him (just if you see a skinny older black man from statewide towing call aaa again and ask for a different service) when i called to speak to the manager all he did was make excuses for his poor behavior and was very rude and condescending to me on the phone meanwhile i was just trying to be professional (unlike him and his employee) and call the negative behavior to his attention so he or the stupid attendant don't screw over anyone else in the future i usually love aaa and the people they have sent in the past have been amazing but this one company and (especially) this attendant, if i hear their name again i will just simply refuse to deal with them ever again read more

Just like the guy before me, I went to Sstatewide because they are AAA affiliated. However, I didn't enjoy the same superb service he received. I've gone there twice; first time my car didn't start so they switched the battery and replaced some tubing at the whopping price for $600 (!!!), of which $270 was labor. It took three days for the car to be fixed - it took them two days to get back to me after I called them several times. The second time they replaced a fuse. They told me that they would two my car in 1 hour, but it took them three hours to two my car to the shop, a distance of less than three miles. I called the following day, thinking that I would give them a full day to work on the car, and when I asked for information the rudely accused me that they have tried to call me several time. I explained that I have not receive a call and expected a call, and asked to verify the phone number they had on file; they did not have my phone number, the number that they had was from a different area code and a diofferent state. They have not apologized. Anyway, the following day I got the same issue - they claimed to have called, only to figure out that they, once again, failed to write my correct phone number (which has not changes since they first served me). It took them another two days to return the car, and again their charged me $270 for labor (i.e. 3 hours worth), plus crazy amount for part, for changing a goddamn fuse. Another surprise about Statewide is that they never called to provide with a quote for the price of the job and get authorization. Furthermore, they told me the first service that it will cost about $200. so I was quite flustered that I got the exorbitant bill, which was about 3 times higher. One positive thing, is that they deliver the car to you, free of charge. read more

Went there recently because they are AAA affiliated and was pleasantly surprised by the service. The receptionists were super friendly and helpful. The issue with my car was fixed quickly and so far so good. They charge $90/hr for labor. I feel as though I might have been charged too much for the part, so I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. read more
