Stopped in here for lunch today. We were able to sit outside. It is very shaded so we were actually a little chilly but it would be really nice in the summer. There's not a whole lot on the lunch menu but there are a couple salads, burgers, hot dogs, and not burgers. They also have a kids menu but it looks like anyone can order off it which is nice. Hubs and I decided to get burgers and the kid got a gyro. My burger was fantastic! Loved it. The rolls are really good too. The kid actually loved her gyro too. It was huge and she ate the whole thing! Fries are extra but 1 order was plenty for all 3 of us. They didn't have a table for 6 at the time we were there so we split into 2 tables of 3. My friend let me try her hummus that they ordered at her table. It is actually made from boiled peanuts! It still tastes like hummus so if you like hummus, you'll like it! My friend also let me try her sweet potato chips. They were really good! I had never had sweet potato chips before and I really liked them. The family decided to try something new for lunch. Tried to order online but there was a glitch with one of the sandwiches, so just called in order instead for pick up. My son saw a post for the Three Hander sandwich (corned beef, fries, pickled jalapenos, tomatoes, creamy, slaw, melted mozzarella on toasted sourdough) and I decided that was what I wanted. Other than being a bit messy and needing twice as many napkins as hands, this was a great sandwich. My son went with the Standard Burger (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, horsey sauce & american cheese) and was pleased with his choice. Again other than a bit messy. Wife choose The Fun Guy (balsamic mushrooms, tomato, arugula, Swiss, garlicky mayo and pecorino in a toasted pita). No complaints here either. Daughter picked Grilled Cheese (cheddar, goat cheese, mozzarella, basil, savory tomato jam on sourdough) and declared it to be the best grilled cheese ever. She has also demanded that we return before she heads back to campus. We shared a basket of fries and there was plenty for all. A fun hole in the wall bar. I love the environment, the little seating area outside, and in general this is a pretty nifty little place. It has plenty of games to play and entertainment. The food is also tasty! Good wings and burgers, plenty of great toppings. The bartender was very friendly that we spoke with and she was able to get the groups drinks out pretty quickly. I ordered a diet coke that came in a can-- it kind of tasted weird. But, otherwise, that's not something I blame on the restaurant/bar. Our group enjoyed all of the drinks, they were a decent size for the price. Will return again, probably for more food. The food is seriously exceptional. (We went barhopping for a bachelorette party, but I did not drink.) I think over all this atmosphere is probably one of my favorite little bars in B-ham. The place is a bit on the smaller side, so if you're going during pandemic, I would try to avoid it on a weekend due to larger crowds. read more

I love the rosemary lemon pepper sprinkled with parmesan served with a blue cheese/ranch dipping sauce and the jerk chicken served with a mango habanero dipping sauce. First, very cool place with retro arcades. All the pin ball machines were really cool and bright back many memories. I will say money on the arcade card goes so quick. Pretty much every thing is 4 credits! Some machines took our credit but didn't start. The menu is simple. I really hated that nothing came with sides. The kids menu especially didn't come with any fries. You're paying 6 bucks for a burger and have to add another 4 bucks for fries. That's seems high for kids. A friend of mine got the blue burger, and if I could go back, I WOULD GET WHAT SHE GOT lol. If you're a blue cheese lover, this is the burger for you. Ive come here a couple times now, and believe it is one of the best lunch spots in Birmingham. You cant really go wrong whether your grabbing a burger, hot dog, or even tacos like I did today. The food: Ive had the burger and personally think as far as downtown goes it is tied with The Standards burger which is a good thing. I tried the Shanghai tacos today and they blew me away... I was shocked with how this bbq pork (tasted like pork belly) melded with the cabbage, rice boodles, and mayo sauce. Highly recommend giving them a try even if this is mostly a burger joint! The service: Ive never had a problem with any of the servers, and ive noticed they keep your water topped off almost to an obsessive degree. I always get the onion rings and fries to start (and ask for extra sauce because the garlic Mayo is a perfect addition to every appetizer/side). The three hander is unlike anything else! They make their corned beef in-house which is awesome and the Cole slaw, jalapeños, tomatoes and fries make this sandwich. Another favorite is the chili. It comes with lots of toppings (cheese, sour cream, etc.). Normally I wouldn't order a grilled cheese at a restaurant, but it's the perfect addition to the chili! We absolutely loved the food at Paramount. Have been twice recently. We had a "Three Hander", a "Grilled Cheese", and the "You're My Boy, Blue" burger. We also tried the "Alabama Hummus" boiled peanut hummus appetizer and the "Creamy Olive Dip" appetizer. The sides are a-la-cart. We had a basket of fries. The burger was delicious, but we are big blue cheese fans. Not everyone loves blue cheese. It was a good size. And the bun was soft. The house corned beef sandwich may have been a little better, though. It just has a ton of goodness on it! If you like a Ruben, you will definitely like it!! A lot of flavor. The grilled cheese is definitely a grown up version. I could only eat half but got it both times. The goat cheese is SO good!! Fries come with garlicky Mayo. Nice change up from ketchup. The hummus was good, but that olive dip was even better. Salty and creamy goodness with pecans on top served with saltines and raw veggies to dip! Yum yum!!!! Super cool arcade with 90s throwback vibe. Love ski ball!! The reason I gave 4 stars was the service. Both times our server (different each time) seemed to not be having a good day. I get it, but twice? Asked for a straw, and got a look and never got the straw. Asked for a float with peach, she said we may be out of peach. Ok, strawberry? We may be out of that. Let me start by saying for 2 years I have been a Paramount Bar Fan. We used to live literally across the street from it. My reviews of late are focused on take-up vs. eat in for obvious reasons. That will also be the focus of this review. The best way to say what I have to say is inconsistent food taste and quality. No idea why, did not seem that way years ago when we ate in. This deserves an explanation. Yesterday night, my wife and I simply did not want to cook. So I went online and ordered our favorites from Paramount for curbside pick up. Simple enough. We ordered two bun-less standard burgers with bacon and one order of chicken wings. Let's start with the Burgers. I think Paramount puts some lamb in with the beef when they make the burgers. Some times it tastes GREAT and when there is to much of that flavor, it tastes awful. Kind of reminds you of spoiled meat. I am NOT saying the meat was spoiled, just to lamby flavor. On to the chicken wings. In the past, we ordered "Hot" wings. Always good and very keto if that makes a different to your diet. This time, we did "Jerked". Awful, we tossed them and the burgers out. That is what I am talking about when I talk about consistency. Is it still a place I will go back to, YES. Just no time soon. I forgive them simply because of what they and other places have had to do to stay in business. Eat well and stay healthy. read more

The food here is typical bar food but not your typical quality, and since the most important quality of a restaurant is it's food I give paramount 5 stars. The ambiance is perfectly adequate and out of the half dozen or so times I've gone I've never had a reason to complain about anything service wise. If I was to complain about anything it would be that people seem to like this place a little too much and it's frequently packed. I do however like that there is even an old school arcade attached in a joining room in the back, nice size with plenty of games. Besides the food though, my favorite thing is it's proximity to the mcwane imax theater which has the best imax I've ever seen and combined with paramount truly makes one of the best date nights you can have in the area. read more
