Small menu and really no vegetables / anything healthy, but if you're looking for dive food (and a bit salty) and good service, this place is what you might be looking for... This is a great idea for a bar. It looks like an old hangar at the Bessemer airport. The decor has almost a Top Gun feel. They have a nice bandstand outside. However, the bar tenders are more interested in talking than taking orders. I think I finally saw a waitress, but made an educated guess that Christmas would come around more often than her. Such an overall cool vibe at this place. A converted hanger at the Bessemer airport will now become one of my regular stops. When you approach they have a grass courtyard area where they have built a stage. Live music several nights of the week!! Staff is very helpful and gave us all kinds of details about the place, daily specials, events, etc. The Food: Not an overly expansive menu, but really plenty of options. Very large portions (see pictures)!! Daily specials (except Friday & Saturday). Monday is $5 burgers. Tuesday is 50 cent wings. Wednesday is $5 bottles of wine....this is not a typo and is not the price for a glass....the whole bottle. Thursday Ribs. I love that you can get fries or onion rings with your order and there is no up-charge. Three of us got the ribs and one of us got a cheeseburger. The ribs are a dry rub fall off the bone....seriously it doesn't get any better! Good selection of beer and a full bar so there are plenty of options. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Indoor seating has bar seating as well as table seating. Environment is exceptionally casual to very formal (some people in suits and ties while we were there). I'm almost reluctant to write a review for this place. Next thing you know, EVERYONE, is going to be coming here. First off, this building is small! A dozen or so customers inside is busy. Two dozen is possible. Three dozen? I hope everyone smells nice. Outdoors is where it's at. The entire patio is fenced in. I estimate it to be approximately 60 X 60 feet. About 8 feet is covered by the building overhang. Everything else is grass and uncovered. One corner has a newly rebuilt stage for hosting bands and other events. Now that football has kicked off, there is a new feature that amazed me. An inflatable big screen! Using a projection type TV, this worked much better than I expected. Of course, this is useless until after sundown. Holy Drive-In movie. What I enjoy most about the Hangar is that you can bring the whole family. Well behaved dogs and all children are welcome. The menu offers a small Pub Grub selection. Daily specials make things more interesting. All good stuff. (Rib night is especially recommended). Sitting next to the Bessemer Airport runway can offer a lot of entertainment. Who doesn't like to watch planes land and takeoff? As the weather begins to cool off, this is only going to become a more comfortable place to be. I understand this place has traded hands often in the last decade. After a few visits I can finally give a full review, we have come here in the summer when they have a live music to in the winter when it is best to sit inside... they are really working on the outside part, the new bar benches and all the extra seating really adds a lot to the outside space. This place is kid and dog friendly in the summer and the atmosphere is as good as it gets at you neighborhood bar. Now on to the food..... we have had a few cooks the times we came in and all were really good. They used to have 5 dollar burgers on Monday but now it's Wednesday. And 5 dollar bottle of wine on Wednesday as well. And one of the huge pluses about his place is they carry angry orchard, and that is one of my staples at any bar... so if you are in the area and looking for a huge 6-7 dollar burger then this is your place, and in the summer time a great place to watch the sunset on the horizon!!! read more

This is my favorite place to be. I've made some awesome friends and they make everyone feel welcome. Lunch is great, happy hour is gorgeous with the sunset on the runway and yes the courtyard rocks and has good prices, the night time crowd is so much fun with a different special every night. Can't say how impressed I was with this place. Food was great and the staff was the nicest I have ever meet. They have food specials nearly every night of the week so always something new to try. Really cool place. At the Bessemer Airport, has a huge outdoor space with a stage, and indoor bar area. I got the cheeseburger with bacon which was really good. My coworker's pimento cheese with bacon looked incredible so I may have to get that next time. There was only one guy working there but he accommodated us very well. Will definitely be coming back here for lunch and maybe some afternoon beers. read more

So we have come here a few times and the last two times the service has been terrible. So we came tonight and a worker went out to her car returned and came back we had to ask for help finally got a menu and finally got a drink. Later We had to flag a guy down who said he doesn't work outside but he was one of the only people we saw working outside. The same girl from earlier came back outside every so often but had her phone up to her face when helping others. We finally placed an order with the guy who tried to figure out if we had started a tab. We explained no alcoholic drinks but wanted to order food. He asked for our name and said he would turn in our order. We later flagged him down again to find out if the order was turned in. He said it was but not given a time it would be ready. People were going in to get drinks so not sure if that was where we were supposed to order no sign saying that. We were excited to try The Hangar Bar & Grill, but unfortunately we left disappointed. When we 1st arrived the staff seemed friendly and thought we'd found a cool place to have a burger outside and listen to live music. Boy were we wrong! Service was awful! Brought us our cheese sticks without any napkins. We sat with an empty drink for a good 15 minutes while the server sat inside and ate. Finally another server came and took our dinner order. Cheeseburger wasn't anything to brag about. Onion rings were extra crispy/crunchy generic frozen onion rings. Had the service been better we'd go back, we liked the atmosphere. When when we go out to have a few drinks and/or dinner, we expect better service, not happy when we have to wait more than 10 minutes for another drink. read more
