I love my dog very much but this rescue was not on it when it came to paper work and i personally thought i could trust them but all i can say is if you get a dog from here or have gotten verify everything because it might not have been completed, like it wasn't for me and i am now going back to verify and find out things weren't done that they said would be done. I would highly recommend anyone looking to adopt to go through Pardon Me Rescue. Karen and her team were wonderful. I recently rescued my gorgeous puppy from them when they had set up shop for the afternoon at Petco in Anaheim Hills. The team was so professional throughout the whole experience, they asked me lots of questions and you could tell they really only cared about the safety and future happiness of the animals they are adopting out. They microchipped my pup right there and then, they throughly explained what vaccines she had been given and walked me through how and when to get her last vaccine. Pardon Me is the absolute best. 6 weeks of trying to adopt the perfect "Pre-owned pup". I bet I filled out 8-10 applications. More than half never responded. Some made appointments to see that special dog and they never brought the dog. I was about ready to go buy a puppy and alas, and my last stop, I went to Petco in Anaheim Hills. This is where I observed an organized operation. They knew the past stories of the dogs and I mean all of them. The dogs had all been taken care if so well and were happy , healthy and clean. I met Karen. What an amazing caring women! I could have taken all of the dogs. But, I met Teddi aka Lucy and that was the story of that. I know I was vetted by one of the volunteers but I would only expect that. I was allowed to fill out the application on site at Petco and went home with the new love of my life...a 5 year old terrier mix. I decided I needed another little dog after my older son moved out and took his with him. My cairn terrier needed a play buddy, and my 11 year Chihuahua was not going to cut it. We went to Petco and met with Ilene. We talked for a bit, and she gave me an application. It was 1:00 and there were not dogs in sight, which disappointed me, but she said to come back at 2. My husband, son, and I went home, I filled out the application, and came back with my two dogs in tow. We met Bentley, took him for a walk, and decided we wanted him. I did not meet the director Karen because she was taking care of some business with the Petco management. Ilene came out to our a few hours later (4:30 pm) to do a home check and bring Bentley. When she came in, I noticed a terrible smell coming from the dog, but thought he had farted. After Ilene left however and we started playing with Bentley, I notice he had a terrible smell coming from his mouth and that he was so skinny. I knew he had a couple of teeth pulled, and I assumed he had an infection. The next day (Monday) at 4:00, I was at my vet's with him. They checked his mouth and said he definitely needed some teeth pulled. The vet took him back to check on him and came back with an estimated bill of $572 to have 6 teeth pulled. I just about passed out. We had this dog for 24 hours and now I had this bill. I knew for sure my husband was going to kill me. I ok'd the bill and left him there overnight so they could do the procedure the next morning. However, I came home just about in tears and sent an email to Pardon Me, Inc. Later that night, Karen called me. She was very upset with my email, but she understood where I was coming from. After about an hour and a half of talking, it was agreed that she would get Bentley the next morning and take him back to the vet who originally did his dental work. She really wanted to make things right, and I very grateful to her. Of course I apologized for my snippy email, but I do think I was in shock when I wrote it. The next morning, she picked Bentley up from my vet (she drove from Chino Hills to Anaheim Hills) and took him home with her. He stayed the night with her and the next morning, (Wednesday) she took him back to her vet. Apparently, a vet tech did not do a thorough enough job of checking him out, and he needed another 7 teeth pulled because they were rotting. Not only were Karen and myself put out, but poor Bentley must have been so confused. Karen put that tech in her place so hopefully it won't happen again. Wednesday night after Karen got off work, she me me back at Petco and I brought Bentley home. He is so fun, and he makes us laugh all the time. He plays with Brewster just like I wanted, and all three snuggle with me on the couch at night. I really do appreciate Karen and her desire to set things right. My husband and I both work full time, so that is not a reason they won't adopt out to you. They have a lot of dogs to choose from, and when you adopt from them, you open up another spot for them to go and rescue a dog from a shelter. read more

This organization is just horrible, they let you get excited for them to just be too picky and never let you take a dog home. From the beginning I did feel like Karen was too emotionally attached to the dog I was interested in. I did everything I was asked to do, from sending pictures and getting the ok from my landlord. I set pictures and video multiple times and she kept finding something wrong each time. Finally she did mention that she did not feel like my yard was safe enough. I have had a small yorkie for 8 years now and. Ever have had an issue with him plus my yard is connected to 5 other yards. I even told her that if she said for sure I could get her that I would fix my yard to her approval and she never responded. I truly believe she never had the intention of letting us adopt her. The first thIng she told us was that the dog slept with her at night. I really thought that dog was a perfect fit for my family and I now it has been hard to find a dog that matches that fit. So disappointed and made my whole experience of wanting yo adopt just horrible. read more

I adopted an adorable puppy from this group - and I was extremely happy with the whole experience! I inquired about a dog (via email) - and got a response the next day. I had a hard time sending the online application, so Karen told me to bring it to the adoption event. The volunteers were all very friendly and knowledgeable. I was able to meet my puppy and bring him home the same day. He was only 10 weeks old - and they made a (future) appointment for him to be neutered (which is covered by the adoption fee). When his foster mom said good-bye to him, it was obvious he was well-loved in her care. Beware and read other reviews where Pardon Me said and did different things. We adopted a wonderful puppy who we loved. We had him in basic obedience classes, agility classes, and socialization classes, all through a private, professional trainer. Unfortunately, as he went through puberty, the member of our family who we had grown to love began acting with aggression. We were bewildered when he attacked family members and another of our dogs. We doubled down on training, and worked hard to create safe spaces in our home. In the end, we couldn't risk the safety of our children. We made the tough decision to go back to Pardon Me for help rehoming him (as required in the agreement we signed). Did they react with compassion for our situation? No. Instead while my daughter and I cried to leave him, they openly shamed us and claimed we were lying. My wife sent a lengthy email sharing some of OUR family member's preferences, struggles and his joys. In response, we get an email again claiming we were liars and to blame for his behaviors. My wife and I have rescued dogs for over 25 years. We have met some of the most caring, loving, sacrificial people in the organizations we have supported. Karen, and Pardon Me are not those people. I truly wish I had never experienced her or her organization. read more

I got to petco really early to get a cat because its first come first serve,and let me just tell you,my kids were so excited because we were the first ones there and we were getting a cat,then a lady came in and tried to get the same cat and an assistant said to the lady did you fill out the Application and she said no and we told the assistant that we did and she said that we would get because first come first serve, and then My kids went to talk to an other assistant and she said that they reserved it,mind you when we told her that is it possible to reserve a cat she said no. I wish I would have read your review prior to contacting them on a potential adoption, Heather. I agree they aren't too prompt in their responses, and waiting is hard when one is excited about the possibility of having a match with a pet, but I also understand most people work and have lives. My issue with this association is the foster made a rude comment when she denied my application because I don't sleep with my pet (health reasons), stating: "Unfortunately Skipper and all our dogs need to be apart of the family. Skipper currently sleeps in bed with me and would be unhappy away from her human." How she concluded Skipper would not be a part of my family is beyond me. IMO, the foster is too emotionally attached, and is transferring her need onto the dog. Pets, like people, adjust and adapt to changes with time, patience, and love, as they become more secure and comfortable with their surroundings. I feel the dog lost out on a lot of love and a great life with me due to her current "humans" ego and needs in this particular situation. read more

BEWARE!!! Do not attempt to adopt from these people. They brought a sweet puppy to be adopted this past Sunday and we spent over an hour with them and fell in love. We have adopted from them before and never had an issue until now. We filled out the paperwork, paid the deposit, made arrangements to change our work schedules and bought food and toys, etc. in preparation for our new puppy's homecoming, only to receive a call that they decided the dog would stay at the foster home with 20+ other dogs! I have visited Georgia, a dog that needs a caring, loving home.... More than 3 times w my family. The first visit she was crying like crazy bc they took her babies away and she could see and smell them. We finally decided we could give her the home she deserves. We were denied strictly to the fact that I don't allow my other small indoor dog free rain of my home daily, allowing her to pee and poop indoors. I put in her our LARGE laundry room, w window lightening and a gate. She is spoiled, loved, adored and cared for. I find it absolutely pathetic that I was denied this dog, strictly bc of this. We own a nice large home and I don't allow my dogs to ruin it when we're not home. I also do not keep them outside since she is so small. No wonder this agency has so many of the same dogs over and over each time I visit. I am absolutely disappointed at their values and confidence. This organization was unprofessional and dishonest. They led me to believe the puppy my family wanted to adopt was available. I filled out the application but didn't hear from them for days. I wrote them several times to ask them if the application was enough and if the dog was still available. I also asked about the sibling of the dog and expressed interest in adopting her if the brother was already taken. Finally, after many days of no communication I was told they via a curt email they were both adopted. My experience with them was that they were rude and heartless. read more

They obviously have their dogs' best interests here. I honestly would not adopt a pet out to anyone who works all day or keeps the dog confined in a cage or small area of the house. Whatever you do, do not adopt from these people. Not only are they completely flakey but they are rude. They will rush you in to signing things and won't hold up their end of the bargain. They aren't responsive when you contact then and they don't follow through with what they tell you. There is a woman named Karen who needs to learn how to speak to people. She clearly needs some training about how to work with the public. The puppy we wanted was cute but if an organization can't get it together enough to return a phone call or show up when they say they will, there is something else going on. So sad. read more

I don't recommend this rescue to anyone. It took them 5 days to respond to my email inquiry about a dog. They answered it on the morning of the adoptions, which is not convenient for those with busy lives or those of us who like to plan things. I drove 1.5 hours to get to the petco hoping to adopt the dog. I got there at 1 when the adoption event was supposed to begin. However at 1 there were only two dogs and two young girls "in charge". We waited about 45 minutes until the other dogs finally arrived. I filled out an application for the dog I wanted and then played and bonded with the dog. I was then approached by one of their volunteers and was told that my lifestyle was "changing too much" to have a dog. My life style however is not changing. Yes, I am 20, yes I do rent but my life is extremely stable. I have had a dog before and would never get rid of a dog if I moved or anything. Over all don't go to this rescue if you rent or are considered a young adult. You will just have to wait 3 hours to be told no. Very disappointed and frustrated that they would turn down the love one can offer to a dog that hasn't had love in their life. Especially considering the dog I was interested was blind. They clearly just care about money. If I could give them zero stars I would. read more

A letter to Karen, one of the organizations volunteers: I cannot begin to express how upset I am with your organization. You and I first spoke months ago when I came across little Jack on Petfinder. I had recently lost my Oliver ( my 12 year old senior Pomeranian who was my world) and was devastated. When I first saw little Jack I felt as though it was the first time I smiled in weeks, as Jack looked almost exactly like my little Oliver! After several emails back and forth about little Jack I knew he was the one! I shared Jack's photos with my husband, my friends and my family, everyone was very excited to meet little Jack! You and I also had many phone conversations. We talked about the possibility of me making time to come out to California towards the end of November as you wanted me to wait until he had his check up post surgery which was more that fine with me. Next we spoke you had mentioned that I sounded like the perfect candidate. You also mentioned that you would remove his photo off of the website as you knew there was no better home for him than with me in Sedona. During our next conversation just weeks ago I was happy to announce that my sister had recently moved in with us and we would no longer need to make an additional trip in December to pick up little Jack. You then mentioned that that would be great, as he had stayed with your friend previously while you were away and he did great. We agreed that on Friday night when we arrived we would sign a foster agreement for the night and if everything went well you would adopt him out to us the next day as we would be returning to Sedona. You also mentioned at this time that Jack was having problems with one of his eyes and that it may need to be anucleated. I reassured you that as a previous veterinary technician and director of the Humane Society, I had seen this many times in the past and that our team of doctors in Sedona was very comfortable with this surgery weather that be performing the surgery or just simple rechecks over the next few weeks. You let me know at that point how comfortable you were sending him home with me because of this. November 27, 2015: I received a text from you this morning to call you ASAP. During our phone call you informed me that Jacks eye had some blood in it and that the doctor may need to anucleate the eye. I agreed that I only want the best for Jack and if that is what needed to be done, so be it. I asked you at that point, to please keep me posted and call me as soon as you spoke to the doctor this morning at 10AM. I did not hear from you until 6PM. You informed me that Jack will be seeing a specialist on Monday. You are aware that I will not be in California past Sunday. I assume that you would also be aware that The Humane Society not only has a magnificent team of doctors, but also a fantastic team of very respectable specialists as we are a very affluent community. I also informed you that my husband and I have had these plans for weeks now, hotel room in Laguna Beach booked, plans changed to accommodate jack, shelter events moved around, and time taken off of work for both of us all to adopt Jack. I am upset that after many months of getting my hopes up to adopt jack, they have fallen through. As the Director of Animal Care for The Humane Society it is of utmost importance to me and my staff to not only make sure that all of our animals find forever homes, but that while they are in our care, that they receive the best care humanly possible. I would like to think that you and I are similar in the fact that we are both animal rescuers and that we want all animals to find forever homes.But unfortunately we are very different, I want what's best for all animals and in this case Jack. But because of your obvious attachments to Jack (which we both know you have)you have let a perfect forever home slip right through your fingers. Realistically, if you planned on keeping Jack from the beginning, I wish you would have said so instead of stringing me along this emotional roller-coaster. I can look past the fact my husband and I completely rearranged our schedules and spent hundreds of dollars to make this adoption a reality for our family. But what I cannot look past, if the fact that you waited until the day of, to say that he needs more attention before he can be adopted. I understand that you want the best for jack, and at this point that may involve veterinary care. But you also have to understand that upon becomming an animal an animal rescuer, you are you are making a promise to the animals that you will find them a forever home. You have not only let me down, but most importantly Jack, by not allowing him to live out his senior years on a beautiful 2 acre property in Sedona where he can be at peace day in and day out, while being taken care of by our amazing team of very talented doctors. We as animal rescuers are here to help eahother, we cannot save all animals, but together we can save many. read more

All these one star reviews are very sad. These are people that obviously love and would take good care of a dog and took time to fill out an app and go to an adoption event in hopes of getting a special dog and then were denied. Since Pardon Me, Inc.'s website is under construction, I too have emailed twice asking for an application and have had no response. There are hundreds of homeless dogs that don't need a perfect home, then need a good, loving home. Denying these dogs to good homes seems so crazy to me when it could open a place for another dog at a high-kill shelter. It seems like the perfect is becoming the enemy of the good. Possibly Pardon Me, Inc. should take a fresh look at their standards and policies. I obviously am not suggesting that there be no due diligence or evaluation criteria. I am 60 and have always had 2-3 dogs since I was 18. I shudder to think if I had been denied my first two rescues when I was 18 because I lived in an apartment and worked full time. I gave two dogs a glorious life and they lived to be 18 and 17 years of age (and it took me 3 years to get over them to adopt another dog!). Even further, the 18 year old had a benign brain tumor when she was 1 year old and I even paid to have that operated on even though my salary was small (but I loved her). To read these reviews, I'm sure I would have been denied back then. But isn't the point to save as many dogs as possible from euthanasia? As long as the dog is safe, loved and medically cared for that should be good enough. read more

We picked out a shy, scared little rescue dog who had been cruelly abused and had to have a hind leg amputated... she is now running and playing! I have known and work with this group for years and people are not always perfect just like not every home is right for every dog. You may have fallen in love with that puppy but is your a lay around the house and do unthing type and this is a dog that is hyper and ready to go you would not be a good match and any rescue that does play attention to who and what they adopt to should be called a rescue. Rescue people work hard caring for injuried and sick dogs alot of them are never seem for months and even years because of the care they need while helping and placing dogs that are ready to find forever homes. People just cause this one didn;t work out I am sure they had another that would havve been better for your situation. And if you so perfect why not try fostering a dog or 2. Oh no you can't do that either. GET OVER IT your were not a match for the dog. read more

We were looking to adopt a dog to be a companion for our other dog, as we are a two-dog family, and were thrilled to find a rescue close to home with small to medium sized dogs. We found an adorable Shih Tzu, and spent time bonding with him. We filled out the paperwork and arranged for a home inspection. The woman who runs the rescue first told us that we were denied, because we had a doggie door, and there are coyotes in Anaheim Hills. We told her we would remove the doggie door, since it was an insert in our sliding glass door. She said she would check with her "Board", but we knew that, despite having owned, loved and spoiled sweet dogs our whole lives, she had already made her mind up not to give us the dog. It was a ton of aggravation, a lot of back and forth, and we finally were fed up enough to pull out of the process and adopt from the pound. So when I researched this volunteer based group on yelp I was quite nervous about bringing my kids to look at the puppies up for adoption because of the not so good reviews, but it really was a great experience for us. We showed up and happen to meet a dog that we feel in love with, the foster family talked to us and answered all the questions they could, we came back the next day to spend more time with the pup and to ask even more questions, we just wanted to be sure. Never did we feel that we were being a pain in the neck. It was very busy as they have lots of great dogs they are trying to find a good home for, yes there is an application but they truly want the best for the pets. read more
