I trusted this veterinary hospital with the life of my beloved dog, Pope, and I will forever regret that decision. On April 30, 2026, I brought Pope in for surgery to remove a mass from his palate. I was told the biopsy showed a benign tumor, and I trusted the veterinarian's diagnosis. Just two weeks later, Pope began spitting blood. I rushed him back, terrified something was wrong, but I was told it could simply be part of the healing process. Again, I trusted them.In the days that followed, I watched my happy, loving dog slowly fade away. He became weak, lethargic, stopped eating, and was no longer himself. Knowing something was seriously wrong, I sought a second opinion. I went to VCA in Tustin. That is when I learned the devastating truth: Pope had cancer that had already metastasized to his liver and needed a blood transfusion. He was going to be only 5 years old on 8/19. Not long after, I had to make the most painful decision any pet owner can face and say goodbye to my best friend. What hurts almost as much as losing Pope is the complete lack of compassion and accountability from this affordable animal hospital in Orange. Despite multiple attempts to speak with management, I never received a meaningful call back from either Paul Correa or current manager Melissa Villanueva. No explanation. No concern. No acknowledgement of what happened. I spoke to Nina all of those times, she seemed the only one concerned about the situation, each time I called back she remembered me as Pope's mom. The rest of that team is by far the most insensitive, dismissive, and cold-hearted veterinary staff I have ever encountered. Pope was not just a dog--he was family. I trusted this hospital to care for him when he needed them most, and I feel they failed him. Under new ownership November 2025!! Dr. McCarthy has been treating our dog and two cats for nearly 5 years, she is amazing and truly loves animals. She puts the care of the animals first and explains everything that she recommends so we know they are getting what they need and if anything can wait either due to financial reasons or to not do too much at once for the pet she is very transparent with all that information as well. Dr. McCarthy saved my cat's life after he received what should have been a death sentence. She helped me with every step of his care and checked in on him often and I'm happy to say he's been healthy and happy for 4 years since he was declared cured. We are so excited to see her take ownership of this hospital and highly recommend her to everyone we know! As few weeks ago My pet Fefe was bitten by 2 Coyotes. I been patronizing Affordable Animal hospital for nearly 7 years. I took her in and the diagnosis was 2 lacerations . 1 under her neck and 1 on her abdominal are. She had surgery, and IV, pain medication, antibiotics, and medication for her liver count to return normal state. Affordable animal hospital took great care if her, the doctor called be to inform me her status after the surgery. The doctor also called me several days after I tool her home to check on Fefe and myself. The front office ladies, the assistants and we'll as the veterinary doctor are all great , patience and pleasant to me and my pet. .so thankful for thier excellent service. The only draw back is the ungodly activity outside on the street area that others mentions. I look past this behavior because there are things in life we can control, and some we can't. I would give 0 stars if I could. We went here for our kittens first round of shots and waited in the overcrowded waiting room filled with really anxious loud barking dogs for about an hour. It looks and feels really dirty and unsanitary. When we finally got in a room they would come in to do one thing, leave for 30 more minutes while we just sat there in a hot room. Eventually I heard them talking at close about that they had forgotten about us in the room. They came back in and tried to upsell us on a fecal test my kitten didn't need and the vet I went to earlier in the week for our other cat did not recommend anything like that. The fecal test would have cost more than anything we went in for. Scummy vibes on that, trying to make money off a perfectly healthy cat. This place is just kinda gross. We brought our corgi puppy here to get his vaccinations and made appointments in advance. Daisy, who I spoke with multiple times on the phone, has been SO sweet to chat with over the phone and I've greatly appreciated all her help in getting us set up with appointments, but the one thing she forgot to mention was that this clinic *requires* a health exam before administering vaccines. I didn't know this beforehand, so when the bill came, I was shocked to see $40 exam fee in addition to the vaccine fee. It's common to see a lot of vets in OC charge an exam fee with a vaccine, but I recently found one that just administers the vaccines without an exam, so we'll be switching over to the other vet instead. The vaccine fees themselves are really reasonably priced. I called around to several vets, and they were charging at least 25% more for each vaccine. They are definitely on the affordable end of the spectrum, and their exam fee is also priced much less in comparison to others. For this reason, I still think it lives up to its name of being an affordable vet clinic. During our first visit, we waited about 20 minutes, and you need to call to "check in" when you get there. You're not allowed to go into the office, so I've actually never met the vet... but the nurses and vet techs are really nice and helpful and pleasant to interact with. I personally would like to have met the vet, but understand things have changed due to COVID - just something to note for anyone who is expecting to go into the office with your pet. Overall, our experience has been just OK or so-so! We got the vaccines we needed, but did not like having to pay the exam fee without knowing ahead of time and also would have liked to go into the office with our puppy. read more

I've been going to Affordable Animal Hospital of Orange for over a year for both of my cats since they were kittens. This is the only place they've ever been and until today I haven't had any problems. Today I took my cat to get spayed. The receptionist was rude and unwelcoming so I thought maybe she was just having a bad morning. The only time she was not rude was when I complimented her on her scrubs. When I went back to get my baby girl the same receptionist was there working on the computer, didn't acknowledge me when I came in (not even to say "I'll be with you in a minute) and there was only 1 other person there. Approximately 10 minutes later she was still doing the same thing on the computer, hasn't helped a single person in the waiting room and now there are 4 people waiting for her and again she never acknowledged one person that came in. I simply asked how much longer it would be and was told, very rudely by her, that she is one person and there was another person ahead of me. I sighed out of frustration and when she asked me if something was wrong I told her she was very rude. She proceeded to argue with me and pretty much said would you like to pay your bill and never come back. I told her yes. She also proceeded to tell me she was a supervisor. After finally paying for services the tech, Rosa, brought out my baby girl and informed me to come back in 10 days for a checkup. I informed her I would be going somewhere else because of how rudely I was treated. She was very apologetic and sweet. I have another appointment for my 2nd cat on Friday and will be canceling that and going somewhere else. So sad that 1 person can ruin things to the point i will not return. read more

They lost a client due horrible scheduling or "walk-in" scheduling as they like to call it. It's not an appointment because apparently they like to charge more when it's a walk-in and they just happen to "never" have appointments. I was scheduled to walk in at 1pm lol and I tried to go in about 10 mins earlier because I know they never just take you in at the time you arrive AND it was going to be my first visit here, so I know I was going to fill out paperwork and wanted to speed up the process. However, the door was locked ? Rang the doorbell 2-4 times? No answer? If they were on lunch they could've said their lunch hour is from 12pm-1pm. Or at least have a sign up. As I'm sitting here in my car typing this, the vet or assistant arrived with a pizza at 12:56pm and another just zoomed in at 1:05 towards the back. If I would've stayed and waited I really wonder how long I would've waited. My husband was the one who made the appointment here. I was quoted 24 dollars for anal gland expression and when I get to the counter to pay, I'm told it's $40!!!!!! 40 dollars to express anal glands when my dog was literally back there with a tech for 2 actual minutes???!!!!! Then I'm told it's the tech fee added to the anal gland expression fee! You seriously add another fee when the $24 should be plenty to cover the procedure! And they're rude!!! RUDE, RUDE, RUDE! The Office Manager is a very abrasive and rude. I brought my dog there from 3 months to 4yrs 4months. I was given a half full ear medication. I asked for a refund of $90. I had to go to emergency vet whichcost $250 visit/medication because Affordable is CLOSED ON WEEKENDS.The VET is really good.Unfortunately the Office manager is Confrontational.Not worth going to jail for. Absolutely the best. Dani is fantastic!! My husky needed to be seen immediately due to a severe dental abscess. I called 10 animal hospitals that were all booked and had no emergency virus available. AAH we're also booked, but told me they make time for her. I'm so grateful they did. She had surgery, they removed teeth, cleaned up the infection, sent us home with a happy husky and a bag of meds to help her recover. I was previously quoted just over $2k for this at her other vet which is also a low cost vet, AAH was just about 1/2 of what my original quote was. I couldn't be more satisfied. Luis went above and beyond today in giving me information on frequency of deworming. Customer service is 5/5 as well as how organized they are. ITS LONG BUT WORTH THE TIME My first thought is I should invoice them for my time and the amount of fuel I burn sitting in their parking lot. The whole "nobody inside" thing is VERY off putting. If that's the deal and you have people stacked up in the parking lot for huge durations of time (so far 20 minutes today, was 45 minutes on Wednesday) WITH PETS IN THE CAR get a temporary tent or something to Provide shade for clients and their fur babies. Let's face it, Covid is a thing. We all gotta do what we gotta do but think about it, the tech was just at my car picking up my cat and asking me a lot of questions and she was approximately 2 feet away from me and I'm in my car without a mask on, nor did she have a mask on not that they even work, but don't you think that is a lot more risk than having a useless mask mandate inside and hanging some annoying plexiglass up at the check in counter? I dunno about y'all but my suv is about $130 to fill up right now. Sitting here idling my hard earned fuel into the atmosphere is truly annoying. As are the absurd wait times. Aug 5 2022 update: So I changed it to 5 stars and here's why. Yah the parking lot stay out thing is absurd. I gave my reasoning. The day I wrote that was my third trip there in as many days with my cat for some post dental complications. They said "come inside Dr wants to see you". My First thought was "wow that review posted and got around the office really fast" anyway long story longer Dr Ahmed Elsadany broke to news to me that my baby has cancer and the complication she was having was that The tumor that he found is right on the mandible and it had pretty much eaten away the whole entire jawbone and that's why her mouth was out of alignment. It's just absolutely devastating news my heart is just shattered after 14 years of being a cat dad. However He is awesome. He did the thorough research and spent the time with her and narrowed it down and did A great job explaining it to me and being very comforting because I was obviously visibly upset. He has done x-rays and a bunch of bloodwork and had it sent out to a radiologist on a Saturday to have it read so he had everything ready for me when I got there. I was very impressed with him and the staff and how they handled the whole situation. Very caring. So parking lot aside this Dr is great. She was in there two years ago for four days because she had pancreatitis and he let me come over every day and feed her when she was there and gave me a lot of time with her every day. GREAT DR CARING STAFF lame paranoid parking lot wait. In the big picture when it's all said and done, I can live with the parking lot issue. read more

My cats were due for their annual shots and their previous clinic had closed due to covid. Luckily, I found Affordable Animal Hospital because not only are they affordable as their name suggests, their staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. I was able to make an appointment for the next morning and my 2 cats were ready in an hour just as they had mentioned over the phone during the appointment setting process. They each had to go through a physical exam before getting their annual shots. They do follow COVID-19 Safety protocols. Upon arrival, you need to call them to check in. They will call you when they are ready for your pet. Unfortunately, you are unable to enter their facility. What I did really enjoy about this experience was that they call you once everything is done and they allow you to ask any questions or bring up any concerns you have about your pets to the vet so they can further discuss with you before they are picked up. Also, I do want to mention that I left a toy inside each of my cats' two carriers to keep them calm during the car ride. But, when I got home I realized their toys had been left behind by accident. Their toys were found at their office eventually and not only did they keep them in the lost and found for me, they also washed the toys and remembered my cats' names when I went to pick up the toys 2 weeks later! Writing this review so you can save your money and yourself and your pet the stress. No matter how desperate you get. DO NOT take your pet here. Not sure where the Vet who helped us even got her degree. The front desk and the vet tech were wonderful and so kind and sweet. However, the vet ... can't say the same unfortunately. She absolutely did not know what she was talking about. I brought my cat in for excessive, drooling because I thought maybe it was because of the stool softener I gave him because he has a history of constipation. His original vet did not have an appointment available for that day, so Out of desperation, I brought him here, thinking that the vet was going to help him. Instead of helping, she was coming up with all these insane diagnosis. "Oh I hear a Heart murmur, I'm suspicious of bowel obstruction, I think he threw up his poop there is something wrong, he might also have cancer too because he's geriatric." Which was absolutely insane to me because I took my cat to the vet a week ago for his skin and his original vet is very thorough and she checked everything and no heart murmur and no bowel obstruction was ever told to me. So I told the doctor that, he has a very healthy heart and he was seen twice within the past week and all the doctors said that his heart was healthy and fine. And asked for the bowel obstruction. I asked her if she can hear bowel sounds in all four quadrants of his belly with a ball of structure one side is hyperactive, while the other side is completely silent. What was very interesting to me. She then grabbed her stethoscope, and started listening to his bowels.... And then told me she hears both quadrants all four sides.... Like why would you throw that diagnosis in when you haven't checked his bowels and then you tell me that all four quadrants are active? And without even giving him an abdominal exam, all she did palpate for though was his femoral pulses. I quickly realize that this doctor is definitely not qualified and does not know what she's talking about about and was ordering unnecessary labs and x-rays for my cat so I refused treatment from her and just paid for the exam and left. Fortunately, I got an appointment for my cat the next day with his original vet and found out the reason why he was drooling was because he had a small ulcer on his tongue. She checked his bowel sounds they were perfectly fine and she checked his belly for any constipation And she said it was fine. I also asked her to listen to his heart and she said she doesn't hear any murmur, and he is perfectly fine on the aspect. I'm writing this review so that you can save yourself the stress and actually go to a qualified vet and not the one that they have here. Save yourself the money and stress amount of dollars or cents are worth spending at the vet. read more

Well, that's it. I'm moving on. The Vet and techs at AAH are pretty awesome and definitely hands-on and caring. What has turned me off from them is their refusal to provide you with electronic prescription verification unless you use their pharmacy; if you don't you have to go in to the office and pick up a paper copy. You can see from other reviews they aren't even mailing them, even during the pandemic. Second on my list of "I'm done" is the recent LiveChat I had on their website where the agent decided to reprimand for not knowing their appointment policy instead of just asking me to call in. She was rude, did not even know what information the website provides and eventually just disconnected the chat mid-conversation. You can check out the conversation in the pictures. I left a previous review about how much I love this place and how well they have taken care of my dog and I stand by that review. But until they re-evaluate their prescription policies, I'll look for another vet who is closer and more service-oriented. read more

I want to preface this review by first saying, I almost always received great service. There were a few times when I called for medication refills that I did not receive any callbacks. I would have to call the clinic back to request the refill. WARNING: do not purchase your pets medication from this clinic! During Covid my dog began having seizures and we brought her here to find out why. She was diagnosed with epilepsy and prescribed phenobarbital. This happened at a time when finances were very strained and I made it clear to the clinic at that time. So when I moved I found out that the veterinarian could call in a prescription to any local pharmacy. This is where I get upset. For nearly 2 years I paid $90 for her prescription. After having her prescription called into a local pharmacy, using the good RX app, the same prescription, the same dosage, the same quantity, ended up being $13.47. I OVER PAID for her medication by getting it from THIS clinic. $90-$13.47 = $76.53. Times that by 24 months and I ver paid a grand total of $1,836.72. This PISSES me the eff off and any good feelings I had about this clinic are dead. I hate it when companies rip you off. read more

This is an honest review as I was going here for a few months. Don't ever trust this place. They are not affordable at all! Beware!!! My dog needed immediate surgery for a leg fracture that is supposed to cost up to $5k but instead my total vet bills were $10k!!! I was also referred here from another hospital because most other hospitals claimed they couldn't perform the surgery. Mind you I checked most of Riverside County instead of Orange County. On top of that there was so many unnecessary visits in between and I do not live near this hospital. I had to have my parents drop him off once and they decided to randomly cancel the appointment when they only left me a voicemail about wanting to move the appointment earlier due to the surgeon having an emergency. My parents and I live 2 hours away so yes they had already left and were on time to the original appointment but they wouldn't take my dog in. I would never go here again! They did get my dogs leg fixed but everything was overpriced and non-negotiable because my dog was in critical care and needed the treatment done ASAP. read more

Overdue review but our visits here have been a very great and solid experience. We took our senior chihuahua Bebe here hoping to get some dental work and a senior checkup on her. Dr Ohanian who saw her that day explained everything very thoroughly over the phone including the bloodwork we had to get on Bebe. We also got a dental estimate that day and after bringing Bebe in for that service I'm so happy at how well she recovered from her dental. It has been almost a year since then so we will be coming back for another one.. I would definitely continue bringing Bebe here for her allergy injections, flea medications, and dental procedures. I have been bringing my dogs here since 2017. I have done many vaccinations, sprays, neuters, and physical exams throughout this time. I have recommended this clinic to friends and family. I have personally brought five dogs into this clinic between my husband and I. One of my dogs passed away three years ago and every year they email me on his birthday to say happy birthday. Every year I tell them he's deceased and to please stop sending these emails and yet the following year I receive it again. This was not enough for their one star review. I still continued to bring my dogs here afterwards because I thought they were good at what they do. I scheduled my dogs spray on Wednesday, June 21st. They told me she couldn't eat or drink past 10 PM. We go through the process of lifting food and water bowls so she can't have any the night before her surgery. The next morning, 1 hour before her surgery appointment they call to say the surgeon called out and they have to reschedule. That's totally fine I completely understand sick days. We reschedule for Monday, July 3rd. On Friday, June 30th they call at 4 PM and leave a voicemail saying they need a deposit and to call back by 6 PM end of business day. It's 4th of July weekend and we're out of town and have no reception so I hear the voicemail too late. When I show up on Monday, the very rude lady at the front says we called you for your deposit. You needed to make a deposit for the appointment. Mind you I had made the appointment almost two weeks prior because they canceled her last appointment. I also made it to the morning of the last appointment without ever receiving a call about a deposit. Seems really shady that all of a sudden they need deposits for these appointments. Anyways, I still can get past this. But after my dogs spay, she has two scrapes under her ribs. It looks like razor burns from where they shaved her. I ignored it for the first couple days but then the scrape started to look worse and I didn't know if it was infected. I called the clinic to let them know and she nonchalantly said yeah no problem send a picture to this phone number and the doctor will call you back. I have received no phone call back. After all of these things, I am done with this clinic. I will find somewhere else that cares more about my pets and our experience. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE A few months ago I had called around various locations in my area about euthanizing my sick pet rat. I know that it's not very common and expect a lot of judgment from people usually but I never expect it with vets. This location was the cheapest option for me and when I called and asked if they'd be able to euthanize my pet, the NICE receptionist with bangs and glasses told me that they usually do not take exotic animals, but that since it was an urgent euthanasia appointment she would ask her vet. She put me on hold and then got back to me with good news and said I'd be able to come in. It was 45 mins away from me so I booked it. I was completely distraught about doing this because yes she is a rat but she is my family so I was overwhelmed with emotion. I have extreme anxiety and I am also autistic so it took a lot of courage for me to get out there and do this. When I arrived it was a different receptionist than the one on the phone. I am appalled by how rude she was. She asked me what type of animal I had with me and when I said rat she immediately yelled with disgust, "A RAT, WE DONT TAKE RATS!" In front of the entire waiting room. I told her about my situation and that I had called beforehand and was told that I could come in. Luckily the receptionist I had talked to earlier overheard the commotion and let her know the Vet said it was okay. (The nice receptionist was a trainee and her trainer was also very rude to her.) They then had me wait in the waiting room and when the vet was ready they called me over so they could grab her. The RUDE receptionist then asked me if I wanted to be present for the process and so I said yes because I wanted to say my goodbyes. She went in the back to let the vet know and then the Vet came out and LAUGHED in my face and said that was not possible. (THEY ASKED ME IF I WANTED TO GO) By this time I was already on the verge of tears from being overwhelmed with these rude employees I said that it was fine. I paid for her paw prints and they said that was it. When they took my rat they didn't even let me say a last goodbye. I went to my car and sobbed immediately. I didn't leave a review at that time because I wanted to wait until I got her paw prints. She was euthanized July and It's October now (when I wrote this) and I did not receive any calls regarding picking up her paw prints. From previous places I have taken my other pets for cremation and prints it has taken awhile so I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt and be patient but I finally called and when I did it was the same rude receptionist. I could tell from her voice. I said, "Hello I was here a few months ago to euthanize my pet rat, and I have not received any information regarding picking up her paw prints that I had already paid for." I work in customer service and am also a receptionist so I know I wasn't being rude, I know what it's like, BUT she immediately gave me attitude and said they called me multiple times and she even called me herself. I wish I could show you guys how disrespectful she was being. I asked her if they had the right phone number because I wasn't getting any calls or voicemails. And she was like "FOR RUFUS RIGHT?" I said "WHO?" That was not my pets name lol She then asked for my phone number and when I gave it to her guess what she said... "Oh We don't have that number in our system.." EXACTLY. Her tone immediately fixed because she realized she was in the wrong, she had to look me up by my name and said that her system had automatically changed my area code to 714 instead of 951. She did not apologize. This whole situation has been extremely stressful and upsetting. I hope they treat the animals better than how they treat their owners. I understand how mentally draining a job like this can be, however it is never okay to treat an already grieving owner like this. I do not wish for anyone to lose their jobs but I do think it's time for the receptionist to be retrained on customer service etiquette. I will never come back here and encourage other owners to be mindful of where they are taking their fur babies. read more

Our little dog was slightly limping and wouldn't put weight on her back leg on Friday. We think she jumped around and hurt herself. We didn't see improvement by Saturday so we knew we wanted to take her somewhere to get examined. Her regular vet was booked and I then called AAH and I explained what was going on with her and they squeezed us in that morning. I was so relieved. The Dr was able to examine our dog and ruled out anything was broken or fractured. He treated her with an anti inflammatory shot and some pain meds for relief. We were also given the same meds to give take home and give her this week. I think her name is Breeann or Briana, but she is really helpful and so nice. She assisted me over the phone, and in person she was just as pleasant. In fact, each employee we interacted with there was very nice. I am so grateful for AAH being able to accommodate us so last minute. Plus, they have really amazing business hours. This was our first visit to this clinic, but definitely will be coming back here for her regular exams/vaccinations. Our dog is seeming to feel much better and getting close to walking like her regular self. read more

First and foremost and for the record, I wouldn't have had a 1-star review to give for this veterinary hospital about a year ago when I was recommended this place for my puppy's spay. They took excellent care of her then... And that's why I still can't understand why my experience went the way it did come time this year for her annual check-up. Same as I had with my very first visit, I set up an appointment WELL in advance (we're talking at least two months simply due to availability) through their website and even got a confirmation email making sure I would still be available to come in. Well, that day finally came, and upon arriving at the hospital it looked like everything was closed down. Lights were off, front door was locked, and absolutely nobody was in the parking lot. I thought to myself, "Hm, this looks strange because I have an appointment scheduled in 15 minutes." But nevertheless, my puppies needed their annual exam! So I gave them a call and the line rang... And rang some more... And still rang up to voicemail. "Weird. Are they on lunch?" I couldn't help but wonder. But why would they be on lunch when they were expecting a client to come in? Meh. I guess that's besides the point now. After waiting the entire 15 minutes PRIOR to my 2:00 appointment, I finally left a voicemail meant to explain the situation and HOPEFULLY request a re-schedule. I'm writing this after three-or-so months of being bitter-- and surprise, surprise! I STILL have not heard back even once (through phone call, through text, or through email) from this vet office. I still got their PROMOTIONAL emails though, which told me that they are still in business and are simply ignoring MY calls and emails. Great. I don't want an apology OR a reschedule with this vet because I've already found another who truly cares for my babies as much as I do. Hell! If push came to shove, I'd much rather wake my ass up at 6:00 AM just to get to the first-come-first-serve discount clinic in Garden Grove that opens at 7:00 AM over this "discount" hospital! I just wanted to get the word out and hold this vet accountable for the lack of professionalism handling appointments and contacting their clients on a punctual basis. read more

After doing an extensive research on Yelp, I found this vet to be promising and decided to take my dog for her annual shots. Dr.Yoo and the entire staff was super friendly and the service is just top notch excellent! It's nice to see the whole staff engage and genuinely take care of your fur baby like it's their own. read more

I've been here for the last 2 years and I've had enough. It was convenient when I had all my dogs here and I thought it was "affordable." But Actually, don't let the name fool you. They're HIGHER priced than other vet places around. The receptionist/person who answers the phone is RUDE. Said our pets had no vaccines and then said they're not in the system. Gave them the same info/address. I'm looking at the paper receipt right here! Most likely the same person per other reviews. The other thing is appointment times. You pick a time let's say 2 pm. Good luck. You check in and they won't start until 45 mins-1hour lol. You're in your car wondering why but then tell yourself it's only 5 more mins they'll come out.. yeah right. After a year of this, I've gone elsewhere. read more
