We were given an inflated price that overcharged by about $20 from what we calculated the total should be for our three items: full rack of ribs, mushroom burger, 10 wings. At the window we asked for an itemized receipt - we were told they didn't have one as we were waiting we took a picture of the menu - did the math and came to the conclusion we were indeed overcharged. Upon talking with the owner he was able to provide an itemized receipt and he did NOT overcharge us - it's just that their menu does not reflect what they're actually going to charge you - on the menu for the ribs stated 22.99 and we were charged 29.99. The reasoning being they have larger ribs now. I don't know how big the old ribs were but these are huge! The food is fantastic -the best ribs I've had in Texas- just beware of how much you're paying and have extra money available. I think it would be simple to stick some white tape over the old prices and sharpie in the new prices- just a suggestion.

Great authentic Cajun accent, Joe, but where's the Cajun food?…read moreJoe must have a loyal following, because the place (now Cajun Joe's Premium Seafood) has been in business for 15 years, although under at least one other name: Cajun Joe's Fried Chicken. The building shows wear and tear (perhaps from hurricane Ike) and looks like an old KFC building. The sign out front (including logo) indicates chicken. I am in a hurry, so I opt for the drive through. Menu is so extensive for such a small number of customers and staff that it likely means most is from frozen. Seafood, burgers, chicken, BBQ... and surprisingly (may we have a drum roll please) ... Mexican food! Oh, and pork chops! Burger was recommended by a local craftsperson, but seafood is the namesake. Choices: Catfish, redfish, snapper, shrimp. I order the 5 pc fried shrimp, with fries and toast for $6. While I am waiting at the window of the drive through, I look straight ahead, and lo and behold I am surprised to be looking into someone's back yard and patio windows with only wire hurricane fence separating us. Maybe they're looking back at me. What if it were night time? It would seem the headlights shining directly in the patio door windows might bother them. Or, maybe this saves money on the light bill. Or, maybe there aren't many night CJ customers. Or, maybe that is CJ's house. Still waiting for Joe at the window. I look into the restaurant. Nice Tiffany-lamp style stained glass hanging lamp shades over the table, with "Cajun Joe's" on it. Joe must be the only worker on a Sunday. I guess he is a Jacque of all trades. There are some other customers inside. Now a truck pulled in behind my car. Food must not be that bad. Well, the shrimp looked and tasted like they were bought pre-breaded. They were overcooked and tough. The tartar sauce was horrible. The fries were ok. "Premium Seafood"?? No. Garlic bread was excellent, though. Maybe spaghetti should be added to the menu. I guess I should have ordered a burger. I am starting to sense that Joe tried chicken when he first bought the place, but there was probably a reason KFC failed. So, then he tried adding other things to the menu in hopes of bringing in more business. But they are all missing 'La Marque' (pun intended). In fairness to CJ's, the whole area is down; for example, La Marque's Mall of the Mainland is mostly a ghost mall and a failure.
