    6" Italian sub
    Darinae B.

If you blink you'll miss it. This place looks bare inside, it sounds like a hibachi grill, and smells like a toasted sammy, but don't sleep on this little sub spot. It reminds me of a sub spot in New York. All the love goes into the food. The guy on the grill is serious about service. There is only one guy on the grill so make sure you have time to wait for your food made with love.

Cheese steak sandwich and Italian salad. Both delicious!

Cheesesteak sub and 1/2 Italian salad. Both delicious! Kind of a hole in the wall, very basic eatery. Kitchen is open to view and clean. Most people order ahead and pickup To Go. This was first visit. Will do To Go in future now that we know what to expect.

Little storefront that is very easy to miss, it just says "SUBS" on its strip center sign. You see your sub being made, very transparent.

I saw this consistently place recommended as one of the best Italian sub in the Houston area and it was phenomenal! I'm very glad I stopped in, and I look forward to working my way down the menu.

    Tuna sub. Delicious!

I stopped in to grab lunch on my way home from work. It was a bit after lunch time, so I was the only one there. I assume it was the owner who promptly took my order and built my tuna sub. It took up the entire to go box and weighed 5 pounds, i swear. It was delicious and so much more food than I really need. I may try the salad version next time :). Great service. Great food. Great value. I'll be back. Happy to support local too.

If you are a fan of subway or another subway franchise, don't eat here. This place blows away the chain shops. I had the roast beef sandwich, which was so tender and delicious! The one thing I wish is they had a selection of bread for the subs.

One of the best tasting subs have had in a long time? Good amount of portions are put into the sandwich, so they are very filling.

Our server was very friendly. She gave us extra time to look over the menu and kept our glasses full. We got the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Fish Tacos. Both really good choices. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Sandwich came with French Fries and the tacos came with rice and beans. If you're in Texas City swing by and try them out. Easy parking plus they have a full bar.

Opened this summer, Mr. Taco is Texas City's newest Mexican eatery. It's located about a block away…read morefrom the fairly busy Palmer Highway, which makes it a little hard to spot. But once you arrive, you're in for a real culinary trip south of the border. I dropped in very eager to try one of their taco plates. While the pictures on the restaurant's Facebook page had already piqued my appetite, I wanted to see for myself if they were the real deal. So, for my first meal here, I ordered the Pastor Street Tacos. Like at any good Mexican restaurant, my meal began with chips and salsa. It's an unwritten rule of mine that if the complimentary chips and salsa are good, the main dishes will be just as good, if not better. Fortunately, that rule holds true for Mr. Taco. I tried both the red and green salsas, which were truly spicy--a definite plus in my book. The tacos arrived after a few minutes. While the menu said they were miniature--there were four in total--they were a perfect portion. Anchored by marinated pork and topped with fresh onions and cilantro on corn tortillas, the tacos were accompanied by a bean-filled consomme and rice. With just one bite, I imagined myself on the streets of Guadalajara or Monterey; the authenticity was simply evident. I occasionally dipped the tacos in the consomme, which I could describe as a bit earthy and salty. Overall, the meal was incredibly enjoyable. This dish is a prime candidate for a go-to order on a return visit. I was very well taken care of by our waiter, Samuel. The meal's spiciness had me quickly finishing my water, but he kept the glasses coming without me having to ask. While working on the meal, I was parked in front of one of the business's massive TVs, which were tuned to the Astros game. That said, I consider Mr. Taco an ideal place to catch a game. It helps that it's open until 10 p.m.--or 2 a.m. on the weekends--though a staff member told me that's assuming they're not having a slow night. Price-wise, I'd say the costs are quite fair. My platter was about $13, which would be roughly three dollars more elsewhere.

My boyfriend got their sandwich that was similar to an Italian sub, which comes with the olive spread on it. He liked his sandwich, but felt the olive spread was overwhelming and scraped most of it off. He later said that had there been less of it on the sandwich it probably would've been better for him. My stomach was a little upset, so I was looking for something milder. So I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich off of the kids menu. Maybe it's just me, but a grilled cheese sandwich is American cheese on white bread, grilled. Here, apparently children eat cheddar and Swiss on a grilled roll. I asked to hold the Swiss, and went with straight cheddar as American was not an option. It was OK, but nothing to write home about in my opinion. Apparently this is a popular spot, as the tables were full both before we arrived and after we left, but unfortunately, we did not have an overwhelmingly positive experience.

They were hopping on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch! It's homestyle diner food meets Luby's. They have daily specials and the daily menu on a chalkboard on the wall. It's cafeteria-style service and the board with the options is located right at the buffet line. They had several hot options as well as sandwiches and other choices. THE FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! I had a club sandwich on perfectly toasted bread with a side of fries. The fries were really good. Crisp on the outside and perfectly soft inside. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak with brown gravy (brown or white gravy were the options), mashed potatoes, cornbread, and macaroni & cheese. Had a bite of everything on his plate and it just screamed "Grandma Southern Kitchen"-that's how good it was. Fantastic diner/comfort food. Service was exceptional.
