Since the renovation of the Paris theater and the Can Can show I would highly recommend this place. Portland needs more classy venues and they've done a really nice upgrade. There is pink drapes, chandeliers, professional curteous staff from the front door, to wait staff. We got to say hi to the performers at the end of the show. On our way to Voodoo, my sister and I passed by the Paris Theatre and saw that they were hosting the "unofficial" after-party for G Jones. We had just seen G Jones perform at the Roseland Theater, so we thought, "Sure, why not?" Plus, concert goers were able to get in to the after-party for free if they showed their stamps from the Roseland Theater. Not only did we get in for free, but the bouncer let my sister bring in her donut from Voodoo! #nofucksgiven. The layout of the Paris Theatre was interesting. The main room had 3 levels. The bar was on the top platform. Then there was a lower platform kind of like a balcony that overlooked the bottom floor. I didn't particularly have a great time at the Paris Theatre. First of all, the place was a total dump. The women's restroom was tiny with only 2 stalls that were wrecked. Secondly, the person in charge with the visual effects needs to get fired. The lighting and animated background behind the DJ sucked. I couldn't get past the creepy dancing tron robots that were playing on repeat. Sometimes they didn't go in line with the beat drops. Lastly, the sound at the Paris Theatre was distorted because of the heavy ass subs. The only thing I did like from the whole experience was the DJ. No idea who he was, but he was a house/trap DJ. I liked that he was super into his own set, so he was up there dancing along with the music and hyping up the crowd. read more

Getting here is a struggle. It's located next to Voodoo Doughnut which, as you can imagine, is it complete and utter shitshow with tourists. Where there are tourists there are Street kids asking for money from the tourists. So, the trip to get into the building is rather unpleasant. The remodel is pretty amazing with one exception. What in the hell were they thinking with the floor. This is an old movie theater so it has a sloping floor. Instead of bringing the floor up and level they added a crazy amount of stairs with flat sitting areas but it reduces the space drastically. Their tables and chairs are gorgeous however very uncomfortable to sit in for more than 5 minutes. This leaves everyone standing around on a floor that is still slopes. The lighting and sound system seem really great. I don't drink so I can't help you there but I have not heard any complaints about their drinks. read more

From concert venue, to porn theater with Hentai on Sundays, and now back to dance venue, its nice to have this place back and cleaned up. The first thing you'll notice is the screen. I would go to say its the sharpest, best looking screen in Portland's EDM scene. Such vibrant visuals and crazy lights on this thing. Sound quality is nice and loud and the outdoor area also has a great vibe. This place has started doing weekly events like Taco Tuesdays that are always fun to hit up, especially with both indoor and outdoor music. They also allow for 18+ events which may be good for younger crowds, but might deter the older crowd as the place gets crowded with the OLCC separation. Having grown up in Portland and played shows at the Paris in the '90s, I was really happy to see that they preserved this little landmark. It looks really beautiful now with red lighting and chandeliers. They even have swank couches outside in the smoking area. That said, I was bemused to see that they had missed a few important details. Simple, 2 ingredient drinks (gin and tonic, vodka cran) were $9 and watered down. For $9 I expect at least a real glass, not plastic. I get it though, concrete floors. The main floor BTW is uneven and hard to navigate in high heels. The sound system was truly awful. Also, they never updated the women's bathroom which is surprising because the rest of the place looks so nice. With these changes it could be a 5 star experience. This woman pictured below provided some of the worst services I have ever received in my 23 years of life. I ordered a Moscow Mule while with my date. It is one of the easiest drinks to make and is provided by nearly all of the places that provide alcoholic drinks in Portland. The drinks provided were NOTHING like a Moscow Mule or even an alcoholic drink at all. They contained literally NO alcohol and were on the worse end in terms of flavor. I did not complain and I simply ordered another drink, thinking that this was a fluke. When I ordered the other drinks, I found them to not contain any liquor as well. I said something to this lovely bartender and the response I received was a bit shocking: "You should have tipped more, maybe then you would've gotten a better drink." I found this to be absurd and it upset me a little, nonetheless, I decided to provide her with a very generous tip of $15 (mind you that my drinks totaled $12). I then asked her to give me another two drinks and let her know that I did tip her a bit better this time and received an even WORSE two (different) drinks than before. I spent nearly $50 total on drinks alone and another $30 on the tip. When I brought this to her attention she just waved her paws at me and shooed me away. If you see this woman or want to go to this establishment, I suggest you stay away. All of the bartenders were unprofessional and the event was very unorganized, but if you want to get ripped off, please be my guest and attend the next show at the Parris Theatre. I usually tend to leave unbiased reviews and keep the business in mind while writing these reviews, but this establishment deserves every negative review it gets and more. Inside has a pretty cool layout as well, big screen on stage, pretty nice bar and the staff was pretty friendly. The music can be heard great anywhere in the building and outside. So I heard rumblings through the grapevine that there was a sex theater, where you can watch other couples have sex. My wife and I being the freaks we are, wanted to check it out. We walked in....good God...looked like a scene from 28 days later. Hi, there. I am a longtime Paris customer and not very longtime Yelp reviewer. I don't normally leave Yelp reviews unless I find one that is completely baseless, inaccurate and intended to try to damage the reputation of the employee they are written about. This is a counter-review to Tim M's very long, winding, repetitive and most importantly very naïve review. Early in his review Tim states he's 23 years old which, by my math, tells me he's been legally allowed to enter these types of establishments for two years. I am 32 (almost 33) and have been to just about every type of place that serves alcohol, including in other countries on other continents. As a result I have made friends with lots of bartenders. In fact, my best friend is a bartender and I hear stories about newbies like Tim all the dang time. The Paris Theatre is not just a bar. It's a concert venue. It is very loud and can be very chaotic and extremely busy at times. Mistakes could be made in that environment. Sure. However, to postulate that your drink had NO alcohol in it is just preposterous. Are you really suggesting a bartender, y'know, a person who gets paid to put alcohol in cups for people, is going to forget to put the alcohol in your cup? Multiple times? Come on, bud. That's a lie and you know it, Timmy! You see, this is a common mistake people make when they go to the bar for the first few times. They think over tipping equals over pouring. It doesn't, Timbo. These people are legally responsible to put just the right amount of alcohol in your cup. You know what drink has a lot of alcohol in it? A shot of whiskey. A real man's drink. A Moscow mule is an 8.5 oz drink and 6.5 of those ounces are sodey pop and limey juice. Drink whiskey or beer if you want to get drunk, bud. Next, let's talk a bit about professionalism. In his review Tim describes the staff as unprofessional. So, let me get this straight. Tim uploaded what appears to be a snapchat photo (kids these days, amirite?) of the bartender in question (without her permission and while she wasn't paying attention) with a caption on it that says "She's a bitch" and another line below the photo that says, and I quote: "That's the bartender. Never then treated horribly." What's that second sentence mean, Tim?! It doesn't matter, any way because your review was half made up stuff and half you not understanding how bars work. Way to take the high road on professionalism, kiddo. The truth is I know that bartender. She's great. She does her job very well and handles business in a very professional manner. Everyone who works there does a great job. Heck, just the other night a fight broke out which turned into a gigantic brawl, which at one point spilled into the bar area and the mentioned bartender had to fend off a bunch of drunk maniacs smashing bottles and fighting. One security guard got punched in the mouth and another was slashed badly with a broken bottle. There were seven police cars outside. This is the environment where she works, Tim. It's very hectic, chaotic and at the very least busy. You're not special. You'll learn this when you start going to more places and figure out how these things actually work. You've so much to learn, Tim M! Lastly, I will take the only good piece of advice you had and have myself a pleasant day! read more

The first time I came here it was fun. This is during the remodel. It was fun. I dint get to see it done. I went back last night and there was a DJ out on the patio. He was great but there was some dumbass drummer boy playing his drum right outside the entrance so I couldn't hear the DJ. The security staff should've said something. The DJ inside was ok. But the dancers on stage were a little sad. They couldn't dance for shit. They definitely weren't helping hype up the crowd. The venue looks pretty nice though. But the drinks are overpriced water. They stole all my money. $40 spent and I didn't even feel a buzz. Won't come back here unless the DJ makes it worth my money. read more

Would NOT recommend this venue to anyone who wants good customer service! The bartender was VERY rude and even security told her she needed to calm down and then she proceeded to call my husband and I names that I wont mention because it is inappropriate, we wanted our money back after we were told we couldn't bring the Pepsi we bought out of the area that only says "no ALCOHOL behind this point". At this point we didn't drink the soda just wanted our money back which she would not give us back. I then posted a review on their Facebook and she responded saying we were trying to go against OLCC rules and that we are not allowed back. read more

My friends and I went there for a special screening of Blood Diner. It is a small theatre and doesn't have very many places to sit. They do have some uncomfortable folding chairs set up though. But it is a cute little place. The people behind the bar were very friendly and helpful. Not sure if I would go here again though because of the seating. And the parking is tough too. read more

Umm... Wow unlike anything we've experienced before. We are a very fun adventurous couple when it comes to this kind of stuff but this place was beyond creepy. There was no tour. The 1 guy that worked there walked us in where there were about 20 extremely creepy guys standing at the entrance waiting for "fresh meat". Don't get me wrong, I enjoy being checked out by guys but just not by a bunch of pervs that look like they are ready for a gang rape. We were guided to the couples area which was about an 8x12 little area sectioned off by rails from the rest of the theatre. Men were lines up on the other side of the rails watching our every move. The porn was playing behind them but they just stood and watched us. Some were jerking off as they watched us. Creepy... We attempted to enjoy the porn movie playing but could not get past the creepy pervs watching us. The porn was not good quality and had no sound. We would've liked to have toured the rest of the theatre but that meant having to walk past the line of creepy gawking jerking off pervs, so we decided against it. The theatre was also extremely hot. There is absolutely no AC. It had to be at least 85 in there. We stayed for about 10 mins then left having to walk past the row of creepy pervs. NEVER will go back to this place. We left and went to Sessos, a nice clean fun SAFE environment. read more

My first time there and I arrived there just after opening at 11:00 am. Was almost empty with a BBW gang-bang movie playing. I am not a fan of BBWs and this movie ran for an hour. To be more appealing I would suggest either 15 or 30 minute movies to offer more variety. Started to leave at a little before noon. I made a yelp account just because I was upset over the reviews for this place. First thing I wanted to say - I had no idea Ray was the owner of the Jefferson Theater or had any relationship to the new Paris (I mean, I guess I just don't know who Ray is, sorry!). As a college student I used to live up near the Jefferson on 12th near the freeway and I had a couple of very scary walks home late at night. Patrons of the Jefferson on more than one occasion helped me out and once a specifically belligerent/potentially drugged up? gentleman was harassing me to the point I had to duck in for a little bit until he left. So thank you for that, kind theater patrons. I've been to a lot of weird places in my life and sort of make a habit to explore the ones I feel safe in. I regularly enjoy strip clubs but the Paris was my first real encounter with the inside of a theater. A friend and I, both a bit drunk, both joking how Portland has gentrified strip clubs so we have to find somewhere new and dark to spend our time, were tired of the tourist drinkers around Voodoo and decided to peek into the Paris. Neither one of us had been to a porn theater, as a girl I foolishly thought I could hide out. I didn't really expect a red carpet or anything. I've been to filthy peep shows and arcades before, more than a few 'creepy' adult bookstores and bars. I was expecting they'd take our money and we'd be on our own. However we were given a tour, given the rules (I was given a discount) and it was made very clear that the space we were in was to be off limits to anyone not in our group. Now, as a woman, if you enter this space (I would assume other spaces like it) you are going to be stared at more than anywhere else in your life. I have never seen so many penises up close at the same time. It was the wildlife safari of cock. I understand this can be creepy for people, it was weird for me, but it challenged my perception of the way theaters like this ran. And the main couples booth was completely full so it seems there was a clientele who enjoyed the voyeurism. This is very different from an experience like Sesso's in that the intended focus of the space is on voyeurism. I had a great time watching the behavior of the participants and comparing penis sizes for a while (my friend was not amused). No one was using the cages which was a drag, and I would have liked to see the gay porn room, but I have no regrets for the experience, I never felt unsafe. Patrons respected the rules, the place was very clean (the wall art was amazing~~) and the staff was very nice. I wish they could sell beer. :( read more

Ok, so we stopped in after a night out. We left our party to find some food and head home, but ended up doing the whole "hey, we've never been there and were drunk enough, let's check it out." So we went in. The front desk guy was very polite and understanding that we were a bit out of our element. He tried to prepare us. When we went in he lead us to the couples area. The other commenter was not kidding when he said that all eyes on the theater trained on his wife - same for us. I'm surprised no one broke their necks swiveling around. It was super weird. We stayed about 20 minutes. There was a small group of people screwing each other in the front of the theater, which was cool. The movie playing was pretty good. But the guys standing around were pretty weird for sure. They kept turning around and staring at us just waiting for us to do something, which honestly just made us laugh. It was weird. I give this place 4 stars. I was expecting creepiness and that's what I got. It was weird and fun.
