So I have been going to this place since they open. I have recommend to several people including a famous artist visiting. And brought multiple groups here. I even recommended the owner for an award from the city that they won. I truly believed in this place. But over the years I have been noticing changes. I did not write about them because I understand running a restaurant is hard. But today was the last straw. I placed an order with uber eats. The courier was nice enough to text me and say they sold out of my meal. Allegedly the restaurant tried to contact me. When I called them directly they told me I needed to cancel because uber is a third party. This is why I am upset. I have been using uber for years. Different states and different countries. People have always been able to get a hold of me. Most of the time the receipt comes printed with your number. Second, they could of canceled the order and spare both my time and the courier time. The person was on a bike! My time was wasted because I had to go through prompts to get a person. But uber told me via bot that the restaurant needs to cancel otherwise, I would only receive a partial refund. I don't mind they ran out. I mind my time and the couriers were wasted because they didnt want to do the work to cancel. Now I feel embarrassed for supporting because they don't care. read more

Recent dined here, I had the catfish, rice and gravy and candied tabs, the food was delicious and seasoned well, I did feel the piece of fish was on the skimpy side(it was quite a thin filet; my sister got the fettuccini Alfredo w/chicken and enjoyed it (more flavorful than the typical Alfredo). I felt the street corn was overpriced, $12 for essentially one ear of corn cut into three pieces. We were there on a Monday before 6p so was not bust nor was the music too loud. I had no issue with the 20% gratuity (our service was good) but they have the nerve to still have a line for additional tip on the receipt (I normally tip 15-20%). I would return. read more

If you read my first review, you know that I will scream Team Park 54 from the Mountain Top. I said every time I came home I was going and this trip home I ensured to pull up. Catching up with a few friends, we decided to meet Saturday afternoon. This afforded us the opportunity to partake in the afternoon side of Park 54. As we arrived, the young lady at the hostess stand was super pleasant. She was all smiles as we walked in and provided a warm greeting as she took count and coordinated our seats. We were able to be taken to our seats immediately and she advised our waitress would be over shortly. She was right, within seconds of sitting down, our waitress was at the table welcoming us to Park 54 and assisting us with the menu. As it was early afternoon we decided to engage in the 'All You Can Eat Brunch' as we would be able to have a little bit of everything. Still holding on to the memories from my previous trip, I ordered a side of the corn muffins as well. Arriving at the buffet, the buffet is set up in the back area. The young lady was sitting down texting as we grabbed our plates. Upon completing her text message, she smiled at us and said hello and began to remove the covers from the stainless steel chafing dishes. As the covers were removed everything looked... nice! As I traveled down the row, I got a few things to start me out. Waffle - Flavorful, dry, room temperature. Chicken Wings - Overdone yet wet from the condensation, lacked flavor, old grease taste. Bacon - Well done, flavorful, warm. Grits - Stuck, warm, very robust flavor profile. Catfish - Warm, golden fried, simple. Based on the above, this trip to Park 54 left me befuddled. The food was nothing like it was my initial visit. The brunch setup isn't conducive for food to be just sitting in the chafing dishes as the condensation causes the food to be moist and takes away from the initial texture, especially that of the fried foods. The grits were the best dish of the selection, however, the lack of creaminess and abundance of stuck-ness was beyond perplexing. Though the idea of the brunch is perfect for a midday setup, the less than precise execution has become a deterrent for me. With the amazing ambiance of Park 54, it will remain an option for friend connections, however, I just want the corn muffins from now on. DineOut 2025: This is not a drill, y'all! They give you the cornbread muffins WITH the Dine Out menu! Most spots cut corners for RestoWeek, but not this time. We got the muffins (!!!), an app (8 wings?!), an entree (steak!), AND two sides for $55. Oh, and a dessert! My guest got a salad, the fish, two sides, AND a dessert. It was on, we had to take food home. Best deal of the week, so far. It was also Martini Mondays so there was a live DJ, drink specials, and a packed house to take it all in. But where other spots give you the lesser for RW, I was happy to get all that food for that good deal. No Martini for me; I did a Manhattan and one was enough for a school night. The place is had a great look and layout. The food was tasty and quick to the table. I was there with a group of about 8 people, most were older individuals with slight hearing problems. The music was a bit loud but when there was a request to turn it down slightly so they could hear one another (at the time we were the only table in the place as they just opened, and one person at the bar). We were told they could not change the volume. That response was quite disappointing particularly, as I said, these were older individuals who hadn't seen one another in quite some time. But other than that I had a fantastic cocktail, appetizer and meal. We started with the street tacos (catfish, shrimp and steak) which were delicious. Then my meal was the fried pork chop, with greens, and candied yams. All were tasty, seasoned well and served hot. But before I forget, the cornbread at this place is killer! I seriously could not get enough of it. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the drink I had, but remember it was so good I had two, and they weren't small servings. I'd say check it out. GET THE CATFISH DINNER!! I wouldn't steer you wrong! Let me start by saying, I've never had a bad meal from Park54! One night a week and a half ago, I just did not feel like cooking (don't judge, you know how that is)! So I ordered the catfish dinner with Mac and cheese, candied yams, and the cornbread! When I tell you, the catfish was fries with love! The candied yams were the perfect balance of sweetness and you can never go wrong with pairing it with baked Mac and cheese! The catfish was well seasoned and was not fishy or earthy like some catfish can typically taste. The Mac and cheese wasn't overly cheesy, which I loved for someone who is lactose intolerant. We wanted to try a black owned business while visiting the Boston area. Honestly, from the reviews I didn't have high expectations for the food. Plus I'm from the South, no one does soul food like us. The ambiance was amazing. The hostess was so warm, friendly, and welcoming. We were seated within 5 minutes. Our waiter was amazing as well. The service was 10/10, but the food 4/10. I'll keep it brief. The food is not cheap, but nothing stuck out to me about the food. The oxtails were awful. My friend could barely eat them due to the toughness. The pork chops were fried to hard, but they gave you two nice size pork chops. We didn't like the greens or yams. The macaroni was okay. I really want to support this local business. And we've tried. Have been probably 5x and each time we leave disappointed enough (for one reason or another) that we wait a long time (many months) before trying it again. The experience is inconsistent - some tasty items each time but dampened by a mediocre dining and service experience. On this weekend's visit, 2 of 4 orders were wrong and my drink had an unexpected taste, but I was still charged for it (after drinking only 2 sips and commenting to the waitress that it tasted funny), and water refills were very slow. Turkey bacon was inconsistently cooked. It felt like we were inconveniencing the wait staff with any requests. My family Valentine! Tonight's visit (again) to Park 54 was another great night. I have been here multiple times. It's a nice close by spot. I always enjoy the vibe! Walking in to a nice restaurant to see so many black people makes me feel at home. I know my people are going to take care of me , treat me well and don't have any unwelcoming energy. Our apps...We got the wings, the catfish (I plan to get them next time with some grits on the side..I think they would pair quite well) and the spicy calamari. I got a Caesar salad as I need to always have some greens. For entrees, it was the Delmonico (with mash and greens) the oxtail mac N cheese, and the colossal shrimp Mac N cheese (BOMB) I had the Park Pistachio, so yummy! And then later I had another drink it was so yummy with a nice slice of pineapple. We were surrounded by the date crowd for sure! Lots of couples in reds and pinks! All the waitresses were so cute!! They all had these little pink sort of tennis dresses and red sweaters with hearts with their hair all in cute styles, with bobby socks (google it lol ) and white sneakers in observance of the day. Service was slow and the food was cold. I had a party of 9 in between 2 shows at the local theater. We arrived at 4 PM and we did not get our food for over an hour. I mean these muffins started us off with a BANG. Topped with an apple cinnamon butter type combo - my goodness and warmed to perfection. We then dove into a couple of espresso martinis - I'm an espresso martini woman and these were my type of Tinis. They crush (I assume) espresso beans and gracefully top the martini, brilliant. Cocktail: ordered the 54 old fashioned and i think the server at my table forgot about it so it came 20 minutes later with the appetizer. I think it was sitting for a while because majority of the ice melted. Not what you want in a $19 cocktail. Service: it was bad in a comical way. The waiter just handed us his handheld POS system to punch in which means he didn't really know how to use it or was flustered. So the cocktail came out with the wings but less than 4 minutes later the entrees came out too so there was no spacing just everything at once basically. We ordered dessert and he came with it but never checked to see if we were done with dinner. We were in the middle of dinner and the table was full so told him to take it back and give us some time. Restaurant Week brought here to try. Restaurant is on the main street with street parking as far as we can tell. There's a live DJ spinning 90's music, very lively! We sat down and no server came for awhile, since they are new so we let it slide. We had flagged down a bus person to ask for service. Finally a server came and she was very nice. We ordered our drinks and food. Drinks are on the pricier side and restaurant week menu was a great value! We got wings and calamari for apps. Wings were great but skip the calamari (overcooked). For entrees we got fried red snapper, boned in ribeye and shrimps & lobster grit. We were blown away of how fresh and tasty our entrees were. For desserts, they ran out peach cobbler so we got red velvet cake and banana pudding. Both were equally as yummy (forgot to snap pics). We couldn't finish all the food because their portion was big. Came to the table hot and great presentation and seasoned nicely. Good portions. The 54wings- I ordered were dark and over cooked. I didn't make a big deal about since we had already waited nearly an hour and fifteen minutes to be served. Dress code was not enforced. Also, there's a unisex bathroom which stayed occupied with a huddle of folks standing right in front of the nook (four tables) where we were seated. Music was too loud- club or restaurant?? They need to please firm up the identity they want to garner. Even after asking for music to be lowered or at least shut off the speaker near our seating (which they did oblige)- after 10 minutes of relief, a dj started yelling and screaming on a mic to hype up those sitting at the bar. It's too much. Good luck but a more streamline identity needs to be forged. Lastly, the 20% mandatory gratuity is over the top. Service is barely average. This is applied, regardless of party size. Hiking up the prices will not keep 'undesirables' away ( if that's the intention). The food is very good- that's your staple. Suggestion: change your ambiance - lower the music level, stop with the trap music and live, over-the-top DeeJay and a less 'hood' following may develop. Skirting the line in my opinion - define your demographic and shine. Respectfully, management needs to be better and a more strategic marketing approach is required; including ambiance and sitting experience. read more

They also have a private patio space and upstairs area for events. I went to the $35 AYCE brunch. Had all the breakfast staples. The shrimp and grits were delicious! Absolutely LOVE this place! I've come here twice now, once during restaurant week earlier in the year and another time recently for brunch. Both times were fantastic. The portion sizes are huge and absolutely delicious. During this most recent time for brunch, we ordered the mimosa tower to start. It came with 5 different kinds of mimosas. It looked really pretty and was super yummy. There were 4 of us so we each got one~ there was one extra that 2 of us just split. The cost was $60, so about $12 per mimosa. For my main meal I ordered the chicken and waffles and it did not disappoint! The fried chicken here is chef's kiss. So flavorful, so crunchy. Honestly, the waffles were just ok, but the chicken really made up for it. Still highly recommend this! Such a good spot for dinner or brunch! Anytime! When we first walked in we were sat in this awkward place but before we could even take a seat the manager came over and asked us if we wanted to sit off in the back. We accepted and honestly it was the best it was like a little secluded area we had access and view to the TV and we was pretty much there alone and the experience was amazing. I had this flight of lemon drops I couldn't even finish it, they're like drinks whole drinks I thought it was going to be like shots but nope. I wish I could remember the woman who service name she was also the manager but she decided to serve that day. She was incredible I absolutely loved her. The food was amazing I had the whole fish fried you got to try it. It's so much food I couldn't even finish it. This is definitely a must try. They have these little honey corn muffins oh my God prepare yourself because they could be addictive. I also had the buffalo chicken dip, if it's on the menu I will always get it and this has to be one of the best places that I've had it. We came around 10pm on a Sat night thinking the kitchen would still be open but were told they were only serving chicken and fries. Was a little disappointed that we didn't get to try more from the menu, but I will say that the wings were really good! Seasoned well and juicy. And very reasonably priced compared to just about anywhere else these days. #wingflation My friend ordered a drink - said it's pricey ($16-20) but very strong, so you only need one. There's also a nice lounge upstairs but it wasn't being used. Found street parking nearby after making a couple of passes down the street. Looking forward to coming here for brunch and checking out the live music and the buffet style (all you can eat) menu. Update: Tried the $30 buffet brunch. Drinks (juice, soda, etc) are not included. The grits and plantains were my favorite. The wings were juicy but needed a lot more seasoning this time. Wish they had the cinnamon corn bread for dessert instead of the banana bread. Mac and cheese is really good, great cheesy flavors, the perfect choice of pasta (cavatelli with the ridges along the pasta *perfect*) The corn bread muffins are SO DAMN GOOD every part of them is masterfully done and the flavors sing together. They are tini tiny and I think calling them muffin bites on the menu might help them not get people disappointed by the size. Wasn't a huge fan of the fries. My friends and I stopped by while we were canvassing in the area. We walked in and were warmly greeted by the staff and swiftly seated. The music was great (run by a customer with excellent musical taste!) and there was plenty of space available for additional customers. The other customers were all engaged in lively conversation with a lot of laughter, which makes the space warm and inviting. None of us had ever been, so we were unsure what our options were. When we asked our server, we were told it was all-you-can-eat brunch only. There were many options, including French toast, roasted potatoes, scrambled eggs, Mac and cheese, catfish, bacon, and sausage. All of the food was wonderfully seasoned and at a good temperature. We each had two plates because the food was that tasty! While we did not have alcoholic drinks and stuck to water, the drinks the other customers had looked delicious! Initially came here with a friend for the brunch on a Thursday! He had hyped it up. Quickly learned the brunch was limited to the weekend and on Thursdays they open at Noon! That was ok! We left and came back at 3. Our waitress Lindsay was nice and not pushy when she could tell we needed our time. We had several rounds of White Lion (IPA), Park 54 wings with cajun rub, and split a raspberry lemon cake dessert. They also offered these complimentary apple cinnamon mini cupcakes (that's the best way I can describe them). They're served warmed and they're good. The ambiance was great. Karaoke was to begin at 8, but we didn't make it to then. I would come back again... and we plan to! read more
