    Spiced chip and dip

Came here during lunchtime. This is a very open and spacious restaurant with outdoor seating. There is parking available. The service was amazing with the waiter checking on us frequently if we enjoyed the food which we did. For my drink, I got the cookie butter latte which was delicious. It was more on the sweeter side which is what I like. For the appetizer, we got the spiced chip and dip. The chips were very airy and crispy where you can still taste the potato. The dip was a perfect pairing. It was light and creamy with a perfect amount of spice. I love that the pizza was wood fired. The Margherita pizza was okay but felt like I needed more flavor on the sauce. The mushroom pizza however was delicious. It was earthy and flavorful. Overall, I had a great time and would recommend

Steel & Rye has to be my favorite spot in Milton! Growing up here, I must admit, I didn't really get the chance to visit often but I see why so many people rave about this place. They have a cute concept for breakfast/brunch where you can order at the bakery stand and just find a table to sit at & they will bring you what you ordered. What we ordered: -BLT sandwich -Chicken cutlet sandwich -Turkey sandwich -Iced matcha ube latte -Iced honey lavender latte -Cold brew I love the sandwiches from here! The chicken cutlet was my favorite; moist and not dry at all. I'm obsessed with their drinks... honey lavender is so good. The matcha latte with ube was also very nice. I like how both drinks didn't taste watery at all & had all the flavor! Nice and strong. Staff is very kind and helpful. Inside is very spacious & has lots of tables available. This is a great place to go to get some work done, study, or even just to meet up with a friend to catch up! Hours: On Mondays, they're open from 7am- 2:30pm. Tues-Thurs they have regular hours 7am-9pm, Friday 7am-10pm, Sat 8am-10pm, & Sunday 8am-9pm. Parking: they have a parking lot! If the lot is full, there is also lots of street parking spots on Eliot St, on both sides! Free parking.

Haven't been by steel and rye for a bit so we decided to meet an o'l friend for some lunch / brunch! We weren't disappointed. Nice local spot with a small parking lot / street parking all up the street available. Walking in we were greeted right away. Directed us over to the order counter. Grabbed drinks and some sandwiches! - matcha ube latte - ice cold brew - honey lavender ice latte coffee - chicken cutlet sandwich - BLT - Turkey sandwich Everything was enjoyable. I liked my matcha latte especially after mixing it well the Ube and the matcha always goes well together as a pair. The lady liked her coffee not overly sweet! I got the chicken cutlet sandwich, it was much bigger than i expected and i was definitely full after. The chicken was fried well, still moist and not dry. Thin cuts! The sauce they have on there i forget what it was but it was like a pesto/olive oil/ Italian seasoning mix. You take your seat with a number flag and they graciously bring it to your table. Everyone was super nice and they bring out water for you as well. Will definitely be back. Light casual and pretty quick food.

Great pizza! Pricey but worth it for a treat. Their pizza oven was recently replaced - feel like it was just as good as before the change in oven. Awesome dough recipe and good variety of pizza options. Fans of margherita, pepperoni, and fennel sausage.

As always, good service, food, drinks and ambiance. Especially for a last minute reservation

Even though I don't live in the area, I've been here a couple of times. The vibe inside is rustic dining /bakery with a morning ToGo bakery that is amazing to a dinner experience that is as gastro as it gets. The menu is artisan everytime. The chef is clearly an artist. I've had their dinner pasta specials and the lasagna bolognese and the kale Caesar. Service is clearly outstanding and the servers grasp of the menu is superb. This is a cut above everyone else. I look forward to all my future trip here.

Stopped in for the morning bakery items. While expensive, the flavor and quality is very high (at $6 a piece, it can get pricey trying them all!) staff have always been friendly and helpful/welcoming. Inside is a bakery/coffee shop that is great for meeting friends or getting a little work done. The pizza oven can be a great warmth in the winter when in use.

Ask the Community - Steel & Rye

Is there a private dining room for approximately 20 people?

Hi! They do, not as big as it used to be because they transformed the big private conference from into part of a bakery, But yes, they do have a room to accommodate 20 people.

What are the vegan options for brunch? This place keeps coming up when I look for vegan brunch, but I'm not seeing anything on the menu

I don't see any true Vegan options sans the two sandwiches (not really brunch) - both have Mayo. Odd it's coming up as Vegan.

What is the attire at dinner?

Casual to 'date night' - depending on the occasion

I ordered the Chopped Greek with Chicken which was larger than I hoped but still very good. My husband had their Steak & Cheese Crunch Melt. It reminded me of a steak and cheese but better. A must order for sure! Go check it out for yourself! I know you will be impressed as much as we were.

I did make a reservation ahead of time, and I'm glad we did because by the time we were leaving it was really busy inside. I used to frequent this location when it was Fridays but it seems like they have a lot more room in this location compared to others and even have a patio from what I see. I only opted for a few appetizers as I wasn't too hungry Bang Bang broccoli - 4/10 could've been cooked longer and the sauce should be on the side, but it has some flavor. Maple gonchujang wings 9/10 These wings were really good and recommended by our waiter Madyson, and I'm so glad I got them. I do wish they were cooked well done as I had asked, and were just a bit smaller. (But that's my personal preference) Nachos with chicken 5/10 I feel like these might've been done before our other food because it was cold and barely had any chicken nor toppings. I did ask for additional toppings on the side which she brought quickly. I wanted a tequila based drink and she recommended a lemon drop with tequila, mango and guava juice and it was really good. Overall the experience was good, but the pricing is a little steep for the quality and quantity of the food. Madyson made the experience that much better as well, thank you.

We also love their stuffed dates. For entrees, I had their Salmon which is always cooked to perfection. My husband's had their Steak Frites which he enjoyed very much. Dessert is always a tough choice since all of them are excellent but this time we went with their brownie sundae. Met up with some good friends in Quincy and we're looking for a place to eat. Conveniently located by the Quincy Center stop, this place was great! We were seated quickly without a reservation (though clearly it can get popular, we showed up at 5:30 and by 6 the place was full of reserved parties!) and our server was very helpful. We got the fried calamari and the steak tartare as starters. While the calamari itself was crunchy and nicely lightly battered and fried, I would guesstimate that about 50% of the dish was actually calamari. The rest of the fried bits were carrot coins, lemon slices (with the seeds still in...) and what I think were pieces of poblano peppers. This honestly felt disappointing as the portion was quite small to start, and then for half of it to be miscellaneous fried veggies felt like it wasn't a great deal. The steak tartare was also an extremely tiny portion, with the plate heavily populated by arugula leaves and six tiny toasts. Not the most generous portions here unfortunately. I got the steak frites as my main. The steak itself was presently beautifully with a peppercorn sauce poured over it. However, I was looking for the salt shaker because the steak was quite underseasoned. While it looked like a good medium rare cook (how I ordered it) with a great looking sear, I had quite a bit of chew work to do getting through the gristly bits. The fatty side cap was a bit chewy and could have used some direct searing. The oysters were delicious! Not even a little bit of grit, with a very onion-heavy mignonette as an accompaniment. We didn't order much from the raw bar due to my friends' tastes but I feel like this would probably be the reason I come back another time with different people! I could have definitely been happier with the food here. But again don't sleep on the raw bar and if you're looking for a nice place to hang for an evening, overall great vibes here!

Chasing Sunsets!…read more What more can you offer than a great view, good food and excellent service? Well, thanks to The Tavern we had it all. :) On a beautiful Wednesday evening we came here for dinner and sat on their patio. It has been quite some time since we have dined here. The view was stunning since we had the perfect seats to watch the sunset. I honestly could've stayed here forever. Our server Megan was friendly and kind. We both started off with a few drinks. I had their Sparkling Pear Martini which was good. We were both starving so we ordered our main dishes and skipped the apps. I had their Grilled Swordfish and my husband had their Baked Scallops. Both were fresh and hot, but mine was a bit overcooked. I did mention this to our server and she kindly apologized. The vegetables that came with it since I substituted the rice for Carrots were delish, flavorful and healthy. The scallops that my husband had were cooked to perfection and I can still taste decadent butter sauce it was baked in. YUMMY! I don't know why this restaurant did not get good reviews, but I would highly suggest going on a beautiful night to watch the sunsets. This just added to the ambiance of the restaurant and overall dining experience. Cheers~
